This is the opposite of dandruff. Dandruff is an oil build up while seborrhea is dryness. Lemon juice will dry even further. I'd try mayonnaise. In fact, I have used mayo when my dry scalp flares up. I have to work it into my scalp really well (as you should with any scalp treatment) and cover it with a shower cap. Yes, it will smell bad. But after a 30 min soak, then rinse/wash well, I always feel loads better.

Well for her hair I mixed the warm water and lemon juice. Then after shampooing and rinsing I poured the mix over her head and rinsed again with just cool water. Then I took what was left of the lemon and rubbed it all over her face. I can tell it worked because her hair and skin looks beautiful today. Usually it looks really oily - her hair and skin - today her hair isn't a bit oily and her skin looks perfectly normal.

Something you may want to try for your daughter is colesterol - I know I didn't spell that right! Anyway it is cheap and you can get a tub of it from Sally's Beauty Supply. Since it sounds like your daughter has dry scalp instead of oily this will work wonders for you. Coat her hair in it (it looks like yellow mayo) put a plastic cap liek a shower cap on and let it sit for 20 mins. You can even wrap it in a hot towel or apply heat with a dryer to really make it kick in. Then rinse with COOL water. Warm wwater opens the hair folicle to let the substance penetrate the hair and cool water closes it back up again. Her hair will feel like heaven! Use in on yourself too as a pampering treat! When I was in beauty school my friends and I did this to each other at least once a week. Fantastic and cheap!

Here's a remedy for when you feel sickness coming on:
Crush one clove of garlic with the bottom of a glass
Steep it 15 min. in (cup) hot water, take the clove out
Add 2 TBS. apple cider vinegar (the good stuff with the mother)
    Add 1 TBS. raw honey

    Found it on welltellme.com

Stupid question...what is raw honey? I have clover honey and honey....lol....still learning...sorry!

My ped when I was a kid recommended my mom give me ginger ale when I had a stomach ache. My mil, a pharmacist of all things, used to give Dr. Pepper to my dh and his sister when they had upset stomachs.

If you have really dry hair and scalp you may want to try olive oil also. Mayo is great. That Cholestoral (sp?) at Sally's is supposed to be great, like Tiffany mentioned, but I have yet to try it on my dd. My dd thinks it is gross to use olive oil or mayo on her head. lol.

Some honey is pasteurized or otherwise heated before sold. Those are not raw.. they are cooked. If you read the bottle it will usually saw "raw clover honey' with 'raw' in very small print above it. Or in the ingredients it will say 'raw'. Most honey that is sold in stores IS, in fact, raw.

    Thanks Amie!!

I just bought honey from a lady in Michigan. She sells it at a few stores around here and in downtown Toledo at the Market. She has the whipped lemon honey that is so awesome! I got that and cinnamon honey...and regular. All are awesome. that whipped lemon honey is like candy on toast. lol. I am still using this for my allergies and it is still working like a charm! Feels good to be off of allergy pills!

Yes Ava is the Cholestoral does look gross but it feels oh so very good after it is rinsed off. No hot oil treatment I have ever tried even comes close.

My mom used to give me Dr. Pepper for a upset stomach. I know ginger and peppermint work very well.

I give my boys a lollipop called "Preggie Pops" for upset stomachs. They are marketed for women with morning sickness, but they are a great combo of natural tummy calming remedies. The boys like the treat of the sucker (they so rarely get candy).

Okay I am stealing this from the other thread......

Is there anything you can do for a fever besided Tylenol or Motrin? We always do the cool bath, liquid diet, cool compress, etc but is there anything else? This is one area I do use meds for especially with my kids. A low fever is fine. Just like a cold it is your body's way of purging itself. But a high fever can be scarey.

I answered on the other thread about fever. There are a variety of herbs that will help reduce the fever.

Preggy pops are sold online at a variety of stores including Amazon and Drug Store dot Com. I can usually find them at a couple of the specialty maternity shops in town.

According to Mothering dot Commune (www.mothering.com), they now market them in a more general form as Queasy Pops, but are the same thing. So you can get either and they'd work.

Thanks Amie I saw your response on the other thread now.

There is a book called Herbs for Dummies or something like that I got from the library once. It was really good because under each herb it listed whether it could be used for children or not, pregnant women or not, how to use it and what the possible side effects if any there could be. It was very thorough. I would like to own a copy to keep here.

It probably does, but Menthalatum is also a brand. This is what we use for the boys. I'm sure it's mostly the same ingredients as Vicks, as it smells and works the same. It's just usually a little less expensive than Vicks.
