Oh man...lots of good things came out of this thread. I was pleasnatly surprised that it was still going when I logged in today and it really gave me a better perspective on life in that most people feel out of place.

Yeah, Can you imagine a 30 yr. old (at the time) with dark blue hair and electric blue streaks with a nose ring and tattoos all down her leg at a homeschool group park day??
Our old group was really different though..we had 6 LDS families, 2 buddists, 2 catholic families, 2 families from different countries and then my family. We all got along and we were able to talk religion and politics without it effecting the group, which was awesome.

Oh well , now that I have "normal" brown hair , I feel like I need to go back to fire engine red hair !!! Maybe for Christmas ;)

My kids often have wild colored hair (compliments of spiker gel), so even Crystal's blue hair fits right in with us! :)

I came back and read some of the posts - you all crack me up - which is why I feel "fitting in" doesn't mean anything anymore.

While in PS I would put that hair color on my kids - a different color stripe depending on mood. Even did a picture on my son's head one day for a "spirit day"

I like our park day - I like the unstructured "play date" that lets them run around and "socialize" without a leader. Makes life more fun I think - plus I like gabbing with the other moms - we have a pretty cool group.

Other groups - well I won't go there. I've had a few come out to our farm who I would just say "WHEW!! No Thank you!!" too much structure just getting out of the car!!

And now I'm upset my hair is too dark to make Christmas red....... it just turns into a cool burgundy color - but still not what I want.... lol.... green would just look like puke I think...

rofl...thinking of puke green hair! When I was in high school I died mine with kool-aid. I wanted blue soooo bad but couldn't find blue anywhere...so finally came across it. I was so excited....until I did it on my blonde tresses...and ended up with green! yikes! rofl. I still wore it though. :)

For Halloween my dd was a punk rocker I opted to actually dye her hair pink and black because it was actually cheaper than the spray stuff. She was thrilled because she has wanted pink in her hair for a long time. I didn't mind, it's just hair.

ROFL I had to respond to the island of misfits. We are all so unique and idividual here. I am not posting as much as I used to but this is the ONLY place that I have found were there is so much love and understanding. This is a very warm bunch of "misfits". I can agree with everyone else about not really fitting anywhere. Our family is on and off church goers. The Lord led us to a very nice little church. We went regularly for about a year and then it started changing and growing. Now it isn't the same little church anymore, so we don't go as often. But we have a relationship with the Lord. Isn't that what it is all about anyway? I do really enjoy the friends I have made here on the spot.

I had a similar incident, except it was actual dye & my hair turned orange. I had really light blonde hair & tried to dye it red. It was one of those temp dye, washes out in 30 washes. It never washed out, but did eventually fade into a nice strawberry blonde.
I never had blue hair though. I did dye it pink once. My mom came home from the store & threw pink hair dye at me. I gave her a really strange look, partially because it was so unexpected & partially because I hate the color pink. She looked at me & said "Well, I didn't think blue was your color & they were out of purple."

I went to dye my hair red and it turned out purple. I have dark hair. It actually looked pretty good except my parents were not thrilled because they found out that I missed a day of school to do it.

I tried later to actually die mine with a fire red (goth period) and wanted the almost burgundy red and it ended up looking like I had dark brown hair, you could only see the red in it in direct sun light.
A friend of mine went eggplant and it was pretty cool. A really dark, almost black purple. I didn't have that much guts though, lol. :)
