Yep, my keyboard got a good washing just now too!

Beth, I can only imagine the joy and relief you are feeling right now! I'd be "giddy as a schoolgirl" if I were you too! :D

Amen and Praise the Lord and Hallelujah, and Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow, etc.!!! :D

What a wonderful day we have had. I just had to get on and share some of it with you. Bill and Bobby has senior day at church today and wore their cap and gowns with three other seniors. They awarded our church scholarships and Bobby was one of the winners. Bill didn't apply since he isn't going to college. When the preacher finished talking to each of the five seniors he said, "Bill, you know where to go" and Bill walked over and sat in the preacher's chair on the stage. The chairman of the scholarship committee presented the scholarships and then the preacher said a lot of nice things about Bill and how much Bill means to our church. He said Bill was going to do a creative movement and that he was going to be Bill's pardner for it and for anyone who wanted to join in at their seats to feel free to do so. Then the music starts to play for Our God is an Awesome God and Bill leads Roger, the preacher, through the whole creative movement. Remember Bill is mentally handicapped. Near the end Roger thought they were through and started to turn and Bill reached over and touched his arm and showed Roger the next movement and the whole church laughed. When it was finished the whole crowd clapped and cheered! Bill was thrilled and grinning from ear to ear. Later in the service Roger had Bobby come up front to help him make a point about how we sometimes cut people down with our words. Then at the end of the service he made Crystal come stand up front with him while he told everyone again about her good news and he told everyone how brave and faithful she had been during the whole thing. He said he hoped he would grow to be like her. She was so sweet and of course turned a little red. It was a wonderful service and then we had a church wide cookout this evening and it was wonderful. I am so worn out but it is a good kind of tired. The kind that comes with a feeling of love and fellowship. What a blessed day it has been. I hope all of you have had a wonderful day too. Beth

Beth, that is lovely! Thank you for sharing with us. There is such a feeling of contentment after a church gathering. The fellowship is uplifting and also assuring, especially when we have gone through trials. It is wonderful to know that you have a church family that you can cry with and celebrate with. This is awesome!

Crystal and Bobby's birth mother is in a hospice home now. She is on morphine all the time to keep the pain down, but can still move around and talk to people. Crystal wanted to ask her a question when we went to see her in the hospital several weeks ago but didn't tell me until a couple of days later and when we went back to see her she was not there. Yesterday Crystal told me she feels guilty for not asking Darlene if she knew Jesus. I told her that we could try to call her and after a little bit of detective work we got her on the phone. I told her that Crystal wanted to talk to her and then I gave Crystal the phone, kissed her on her forehead and left the room so she could talk privately. She came to get me in a few minutes and mouthed to me that she didn't know how to ask Darlene what she needed to know. She asked me to do it. I explained to Darlene that something was bothering Crystal and that she needed to know if Darlene had been saved. Darlene was nice about it all and said yes she had been saved and was baptized. I thanked her and asked her if she would repeat it to Crystal and I gave the phone back to my sweet child. Her birth mom made her feel much better by telling her and they talked a little while then Bobby talked for a minute. Crystal got back on and Darlene asked about her cancer surgery and what all our doctor had told us. THEN! Darlene told Crystal that her cancer would come back that it always did. I couldn't believe she said that to Crystal. But Crystal was not upset. She told me that from the moment her youth group put her in the middle of their prayer circle, placed their hands on her head and prayed for her that she had felt at peace about all she has been through and she trusted our doctor and just knew everything would be okay. Wow. To have faith like that. Freddy and I are taking Crystal to see Darlene today at the hospice. Bobby said he does not want to see her there and I respect that. He remembers a lot of the bad stuff that Crystal does not. She knows that and understands Bobby's feelings. Pray for us today if you can. It may be very emotional for Crystal. Thanks you all. Beth

Our day went very well. Crystal was not very talkative while we were at the hospice home. She may have been overwhelmed by the aunt and grandmother being there as well as the physical condition Darlene is in now. She is totally bald and has dark circles under her eyes. She was having a bad day today. She said she was depressed and feeling sick. She is bi polar also. At least I think so from something she said about her medicine. The aunt was very nice and said she would send contact info to us through Crystal and Bobby's brother Jason who lives near us. We see him more often than any of the other birth family. Darlene talked about getting better and going to stay with her sister at the beach. That was hard on Crystal because she knows it probably won't happen. Crystal had her camera and Emily took pictures of Crystal and Darlene and then some with the aunt and grandma in them. Bobby hasn't asked how the visit went or said anything about Darlene since he got home from school. It is just different for him. He remembers the drinking and fighting as well as the neglect and abuse. Crystal does not remember, but she knows about it through things she has heard from her older brothers over the years. I am glad we went for Crystal's peace of mind. I hope she will be okay when this is all over. I know she will grieve, I just hope she has the answers she wanted. Thanks for your prayers. Beth

I guess I don't pop in as often as i should, but really have been thinking about Crystal, glad things will get better for her now.

sounds like your church family is very supportive too, thats great. Congratulations to Bobby for getting the scolorship. I'm sure Bill's creative presentation was great too.

This is an update on Crystal.

Yesterday we went back to see the doctor who did her surgery. He said she was doing great and again said she does not need any radioactive iodine treatments. I reminded him of the birth mom's cancer and also told him a birth aunt told us there has been several cases of cancer in the birth family. He said the type of cancer Crystal had was not hereditary and that he could send her to another specialist but that he honestly felt it would be a mistake to do the iodine treatments because it would cause her to have a dry mouth all the time. He is going to monitor her thyroid meds. level carefully because he thinks hers needs to stay a little low. Because of that he wants her on extra vitamin D. He is very careful and I trust him so we are following his plan and will always have to keep her blood work up to date just in case, but for now it is all good news. Her scar is getting smaller already and we have instructions on how to keep it healing properly. The doctor says it will go away almost completely in time. No new news from birth mom this week. As far as we know she is still in the hospice home. I doubt if we will go see her again. Crystal leaves for camp on the 13th with our youth group. I am so happy for things to be sort of back to normal. Thanks for all the prayers. Beth

Beth, when her scar is healed, try using a cocoa butter stick with vitamin E in it. Joyce scars terribly and we found that that works wonders.

I agree that the scar will go away. My friend has had her thyroid removed and I can't see her scar unless she points it out. It looks like a part of the folds of the neck. I didn't know she had the surgery until I was telling her my sister has to have hers removed. She then showed me her neck. Otherwise I never would have known.
