Go with your instincts. That gut feeling is possibly God's way of letting you know to check this out. I would however explain that you are not doing this to dampen her interests, but that you care deeply for what she is exposed to. I think it is a GREAT thing that you are upset about the book. Society has dampened our "shock" at things that are so wrong. This is a good sign that you are sensitive to the Holy Spirit (IMO).
I know some people think that kids will read what they want even if we don't "allow" them to, so it is better to let them. I don't think that is the case-knowing they will doesn't mean we approve and allow it. It also doesn't mean we jump off the deep end when we find out they do read the "banned' material.
Mom_2_3, I have three American historical fiction novels out right now. All from a Christian worldview. (Imagine that! The first is "The Color of Freedom," a YA that takes place in the American Revolution. (age 12+) The others are "The Candle Star" and "Broken Ladders," books one and two in a trilogy of Civil War fiction. (age 10+) I'm writing book three right now. I also have a fantasy that will be out the end of the summer. Magic, but none of the junk. It will be called "The Quill Pen." Book trailers, lesson plans, summaries, etc. are all on my website. I can't post it yet, 'cause I'm new, but if you google my name, Michelle Isenhoff, it will come up. Thanks for asking!
Neat webpage! Your books sound very interesting. Maybe you can't post the link, but I can. http://michelleisenhoff.com/default.aspx
Michelle, I loved reading some of your book reviews and found some I want to get for Emily to read. Actually I would like to read them also. Beth
Beth, I'm so glad you found them helpful! That's why I review them, to keep kids (and their parents ) reading, and in some cases, make parents aware of content.
