Okay, gals, can anyone remember past "conjunction junction, what's your function"? I've always remembered that much of it but no more. I remember being in grade school and they had all of us in the cafeteria for a lecture and movie on the metric system because they were predicting that the US would be using all metric by the 80's. Has anyone mentioned Lassie, Land of the Lost or HR Puffenstuff?
Jackie, my mom made us wear dresses and we wore shorts under them because you could not keep my sisters and I off the monkey bars or out of trees!
My mom allowed me to wear Pant Suits to school only on the days when I had Safety Patrol, back when 6th grade was still elementary school. Then, in Junior High, she started letting me wear them to school. But dropping me off EVERY DAY, and seeing all the other girls in jeans, she finally gave in. I still remember two girls that were kinda wild and in one of my classes the first day I wore jeans. They couldn't believe it!
My brother's wife told who is in her early 40's told me that her mother would not let her wear jeans at all when she was growing up. Pants she could wear but not jeans.
I'm having to adjust in that area myself. I'm not too keen on my girls wearing jeans to church. But now we're meeting on Saturday nights. Rachael has Youth Group at 3, and the evening service is at 6. It's not right making her wear a dress to youth group, so I'm trying to remind myself that it's the HEART ATTITUDE, etc. But it just RUBS ME WRONG!!! OK! I'm being S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D!!!
Jackie that is too funny! I see the youth dressed in jeans on Sunday morning and even as young and contemporary as I happen to be I still can't understand wearing jeans to church on Sunday!!! Put on some nice clothes!
Saturday night is different. And I just think I am old fashioned when it comes to certain things. Sorry I forgot to add that.
yea, Jackie took the girls to a new church youth group this Sunday they went in Jeans and they wanted us to stay for church service afterwards. I just felt uncomfortable in jeans but they said everyone comes that way and they were. I know how you feel...
Okay I forgot! I wore jeans to church before! But they were dark jeans and I wore them with a blouse, heels and jewlery. Oh gosh that doesn't matter does it? I can't believe this now I have to reconsider everything!!LOL!
We don't meet at all on Sundays now (again STRETCH!!! YES!!! I CAN do this!!!), because we're sharing the building with another church for about a year. As much as I'm having a difficult time adjusting, we ARE getting more of the "neighborhood" people coming on Saturdays. And by "neighborhood", I mean people who are really down-and-out, some homeless. So this is REALLY a good thing. We also have a light meal after the service. Rachael says, rightly so I think, that the people aren't willing to get up on Sunday mornings. But Saturday evenings they're already up and are willing to come. But it also means I have to keep a more careful eye on my younger two! We never know WHO might come in!
I looooved watching HR Puffenstuff!! I was just talking to dh about Land of the Lost last night and how I would really like for our kids to watch it.
I always loved books that had time portal themes so I think that is why I loved Land of the Lost. I still remember a book (wish I remembered the title!) I read as a teenager where the main character would be transported back to the 1800's through a mirror in her room.
Keep on dancing with yoour heart and sooulll on saturday night SATURDAY NIGHT! we loved the Bay City Rollers ha! Weird as they were they were fun ! My sister and I had that record worn through I am sure! HA! thanks for the memories!
