update I thought I would come and update you all on us. Scott started physical therapy on his back this week. He goes 3 times a week for 6 weeks and then they plan to do shots in this back if that doesn't work before thinking about surgery. He is out of work for at least 6 more weeks now. I am hunting a job but not having much luck as of now. Life is hard but we are trying to hang in there. Yesterday we had a very bad day. Long story but we had a wreck and that will cost us some money too. Money we don't have. Prayer for us please as we are praying God will show us what his plans are for our life and we will go what ever he tells us to do at this point. We just need a clear letter from him telling us what to do. Yes, I am trying to laugh instead of cry. Some days I do cry to be honest with you all. I love each of you and thanks for all the prayers, kind words and helpful ideas. LORNA:lol:
Lorna, Your family is in my prayers. Praying for God to show you His will and provide for your needs.
Lorna, your trials seem enormous. I'm praying that you will find refuge and strength in the Lord. He is a very present help in trouble. Ps. 46:1 May He help you find a way through-- financially, educationally, healthwise, and mentally. Do what you can do, and don't feel guilty about the things you have to postpone. It sounds like right now, you are the main strength in your family, so I'm praying that you'll take care of yourself, too! You haven't mentioned much support--do you have close family? Friends near-by? 'So glad you found this supportive forum!
Oh Lorna, I'm sorry things are going badly for you right now! I will be praying for you and your family! I agree--you need to make sure to take time for yourself so you can stay as healthy as possible! If I lived close I'd come help you, as it is I'll just send up extra prayers! Keep your faith strong---sounds like you're going through a Job experience, but hopefully your friends are more supportive than his were! We love you too, and God loves you!
I am praying too! Sometimes it seems like the troubles are layered upon our backs, but if we can just make it through this load to the drop off point and let the Lord have His way things work out. Remember He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him! Keep focused and the Lord will keep you in peace. Be blessed not stressed!
I hope things will improve soon for your husband and your finacial situation and sounds like you need a big hug. Take care of your self. ........ Though it maynot seam like it, things could be worse.
Well, as you can see, Lorna, you have many friends here, and many prayers going up!!! Wish we could give you a big hug! <<<<HUG>>>>
Lorna- is there an employment office there where you can go in daily and check their postings? How about Human Services, or whatever they call it there? Do you know if you qualify for any help now? You have children in the house, so you'd think there'd be something you could get. Are there food programs you could apply to? The Red Cross gives food and assistance, you just have to apply. They will help you with Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner, as well as Christmas gifts for your whole family. They helped my mom one year and they really fixed her up with groceries. The gifts she got were nice nice, too. Kevin is in a program where they give you training and send you out on interviews. They give you resume help, interview practice if you want it, and other job seeking help as needed. Best wishes, girl.
Speaking of Christmas, a lot of major television stations have lists you can get on for that sort of thing too! They will send your kids gifts, or tell you where to go to pick them up. so check them out as well when it gets time for that sort of thing! Wic here in California helps with food for kids and moms wiht kids, so I am sure there is one similar where you live. I have in my single days many of times be blessed by teh food bank through my church ministry that took people there, so that maybe something to do too. Maybe you coudl start such a ministry up if there isnot one cause there are other folks out there and Safeway and ALbertsons and even Walmart donate food and stuff for those organizations. Don't know why I thought about that and sent that information in, maybe God has aplan with it? anyway you are in my prayers! T
Lorna, 'still praying for your health and ability to think clearly and that you'll have COURAGE to keep on doing the little things--one thing at a time--whatever needs to be done next.
We checked on food stamps and didn't get them even though we were under the limit on money coming in monthly. I don't know but plan to call Monday and ask why they turned us down. Someone told me if you own a home they will give you a rough time. Ours isn't paid for but we do own. We go for a second doctor on Wednesday, 20th and that is our 20th anniversary too, if you remember will you please pray for some answers that day for us. I pray that this doctor will work toward getting something done for his pain. Thanks for all your prayers. Love and God bless each of you. Lorna
Sometimes they will turn you down if you own a vehicle/vehicles worth more than 5000 dollars here in TX. My kids will be without insurance(we had Medicaid for the last 2 years because my husband is self-employed and we couldn't afford insurance) at the end of the month because we bought a 99 Suburban. Even though our payments are only 150.00 month - it doesn't matter. Not whining - just giving another reason they might have turned you down for the food stamps. They MUST be able to give you the answer, because there has to be a "technical" answer. We had food stamps for about 6 months last year because my husband couldn't work (we were dealing with adjusting blood pressure meds-boy am I glad that's over!!!) for 5 months. As far as I could tell it had to do mostly with the income and outgoing bills. Sabrina
Sabrina, you are right they did that when my dh was without work last year do to a illness. It's hard they wouldn't help if you have two cars, I was told they can't hold your house against you, because it's where you live. But, I would try food banks, and sign up for the christmas and thanksgiving boxes that go out.
Thanks for all the ideas. Please continue to pray for us as he sees a real back doctor this week on Wednesday, our 20th anniversary. I will check in as I can. My free 10 hours is up now for the month and I have to come to the library. Know I am praying for you all, Lorna
Lorna, did you check the Red Cross yet? MY sis said they have funds available for such times as this. She is about to loose her home because of my moms death so she has been checking into these things too. Still praying for yoU!
He will have surgery on his back on the 5th. Thanks for all the prayers. Also our boys will have eye surgery on the 2nd to get the tubes out they put in their eyes in April. Some of you may remember that. No, I haven't checked with Red Cross yet. We are so busy with doctor's appointments we have a hard time getting school in right now. Most weeks have been 5 to 7 doctor visits. Lorna
That is great news. What are they going to do? (I had back surgery 16 years ago, and my dad has had 2 surgeries on his. So, I am all too familiar with that.) I am praying all goes well, and you all can get back to "life" asap! I know it will take some time, but do you feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel? Thanks for the update!
