We traveled over 1000 miles this week to see our son gradutate from Basic training and are safely home in NC and he is safe in Washington at Fort Lewis.
I made it through my first personal training session in 3 years this morning. Boy, am I out of shape, lol. The girls went with me and had a blast.
1. We are so blessed to have good jobs and GREAT friends. The other day we were headed to Phoenix to see the Cardinals (beat the snot out of...or squeak one out, whatever) My mom was supposed to watch the boys...but then she couldn't (long story) So within 30 min. I had found a friend that was willing to keep the boys Sat. AND Sunday night! (one friend was willing to give up a date...on a weekend she didn't have her kids...but we didn't have to do that.) 2. My niece (who has a recurrence of Hodgkins) got clear scans this week and will start her bone marrow transplant soon. This is the first good thing in this whole deal. 3. My husband made me breakfast today.
At our son's turning blue ceremony on Thursday we got to put Bobby's blue cords on his uniform. Then Freddy handed him his first challenge coin and when he did Bobby said to me, "I have something for you and Daddy too." Then he pulled two little blue velvet bags out of his uniform pocket and gave us each a necklace that matches his Army class ring. I was in tears of course. Good tears. Our son has become a good man.
I got to join a gym last Thursday (10 days ago). I worked out Friday, took off Saturday, then went in for 1 hour workouts every day Sunday thru Friday! WooHoo! It looks like I've gained 2-3 pounds after a week like that! However, It's okay, my body is adjusting, and I still have some work to do on healthy eating, so I hope to keep up the workouts, and get better at eating better! Great stories everyone! VERY touching story sloan!
We had a food drive for our local food pantry today and over 600 pounds of food was donated. It was at our local skating rink and you got in by bringing in food to donate. It was so much fun for everyone.
1. My mother came through her cornea replacement surgery well yesterday. 2. After finding out that Samantha is not eligible to try out for cheerleader at the new high school she will attend this coming August, I found out today that she is eligible to try out for the dance team. Not only can she try out but after the director found out her dance background and experience she is practically begging Samantha to join! Yippee!
Bobby is happy in Washington and not upset about being deployed next month. He also met a young lady we keep hearing about.
We are experiencing rain storms here and will be through Saturday and for us that's a HUGE positive because we've already accumulated more rain than the entire of our monsoon season last year and we NEED the rain!
My mother in law decided she wanted to get professional help for our daugher with learning disabilities and paid $10,000 for her to be worked with over the next year!!!!
I finally got back to exercising and I was able to run 1 mile without taking a break! We finally got some storage shelves for our garage so we can now organize it! I have lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks!
I'm doing a really fun idea test panel thing and I"m going to get paid for it........... go figure its about a new cooking website.
Someone at Co-op offered practice ACT/SAT tests right before Christmas. I had Rachael take one. She has never taken a standardized test before. She was at the National Average in English and Science, and above the National Average for Math and Reading, with a composite score of 24 (which means she is doing as well or better than 75% of recently ACT-tested high school graduates). They also said that she would have done better if she had known how to pace herself, as she didn't complete the test. Oh, and she got 4/5 for her essay, which I guess is very good, too! Whew!!! So for me, that means she's "OK", and I'm more comfortable with having her graduate in two years!!!
Me too Amy... the house is trashed, the floor needs mopped but the kids are all playing and happy! Yesterday I went and picked up a freecycle find... a complete set with almost all of the annual update books from 1949 of The Book of Knowledge!! Ok there is a site online that sells these sets in decent condition for up to $600... this one is MINT! How awesome is that?
Today is Elijah's birthday, 15. Just praising the Lord that he is not 16 He is having a great birthday
