That would be the sound of my head hitting the desk. I sent our application in to set up our homeschool. Did it by the HSLDA suggestions, certified/return receipt.

I got a call this morning, and it seems that I designated DH as the Chief Administrator, but forgot to get him to sign the form. Sheesh!

She told me that they could go ahead and set it up with me as Chief Administrator, but I really feel like DH needs to be the one at the helm of our school.

So they are sending it back. We have plenty of time, but I was so glad to have gotten it sent it.

Why do you have to have a Chief Administrator? I am not too clear on all the laws else where.

Well at least you still have a lot of time to get it signed and turned back in.

I go to the Superintendents office to fill out our form, give them my curriculum list yearly so I know they have it and it doesn't get lost in the mail. I also live 3 blocks away from the office also.

I'm so glad that you have plenty of time! Another plug for not procrastinating...lol.

I'm also so glad that we don't have to do any of that stuff. lol.

We have to designate a Chief Administrator, but besides registering, keeping attendance and year end testing, that is all we have to do for records.

I am glad I don't have to worry about that much yet. All we have to do is report the childs name, age(between 7 &16) and grade, along with our curriculum list for the seven state required subjects, reading, writing, math, civics, history, literature and science.

Daddy is the principal here, too. lol

All we have to do is track hours in case anyone ever calls DFS on us for not sending out kids to school (the hours tracking proves we're adhering to state standards for HSing). No letter of intent. No curriculum list. No turning in those hours unless there's a problem. Nada. Not quite as free as Texas, but still pretty darn good.

Gee, and I thought we were pretty easy here. We don't have to designate our curriculum, and we just check mark off days we have school - which is everyday isn't it?

Oh, and I think we have to designate a Chief Administrator and keep immunization records because we fall under the Department of Non-Public Education and are considered Private Schools.

That's close to us: We need intent to homeschool form, which is a paper where I fill in the names of the kids and what grade they are in and sign and date it--2 minutes, tops!

Plus we are supposed to do a yearly test of some sort. We do the ITBS.

    That's all we do.

I live in PA.. we have to jump through flaming hoops, stand on our heads, offer up our first and last born and then we have to file an affidavit, prove immunizations, provide a list of objectives. We have to have standardized testing in 3rd, 5th and 8th grades, keep a portfolio with a log kept "contemptuously" with our learning and a log of all reading materials, samples of all work, proof of 180 days, have an evaluation by a qualified person, prove that we keep up with the states health requirements for students, then turn in the portfolio for the superintendent to evaluate and approve.

Me too, I live in AZ and all we have to do is file an afidavit of intent that has to be notarized. That's it..we file it once and then we are done! Couldn't be easier in my opinion.
