(lookin sheepish........) .....ummmmm......It is still here! Sorry guys!! It has been absolute insainity here. We will be working on it this weekend and will pop it in the mail Mon or Tues! We live out in the boonies as it is and the bridge we use to get to town and the p.o. has been out for about a week and a half. We already live 15 minutes out of town, and with the bridge being out, we have to go waaaayyyyy around that adds another 20 minutes to the trip ! It has been a major pain (also for the moms I sit for, they have to shleep all the way around). I called Dept of Trans the other day and asked when they thought it would be fixed and they said several weeks as a part had to be manufactored out of state as the bridge is so old that they dont have parts for them anymore! We are surrounded by bayous and canals so we have draw (swing) bridges everywhere and when one is out, it is a pain!! Sorry again guys for the delay~we will have it out asap!!!
It will be going out on Monday~the 7th!! With all the holiday hoopla it is being sent out later than I wanted to. On top of all the holiday stuff, my bank (that I have my morgage with) called me on CHRISTMAS EVE and told me that they did not recieve the house note for November!!! I mailed it off but apparently it got lost somewhere , sooooooo I had to stop payment on the check and OVERNIGHT ($16.95 thank you very much!) a new check. The dog gone bridge is still out !!! Dept of Transportation said that the part needed is being made in GERMANY!! So who knows how long it will be out!!(the bridge out is such a pain. It really has put a kink in ALOT of my routine. I just cant get to town and take care of what I need too with out a big production!!) I mean, it has just been insane around here!! I am kinda sad to see Christmas go, but I am soooo looking forward to my house being in order again and us back on our routine!! Sorry to ramble!! But I thank all of yall for yall's patience and I will get it out on the 7th!!!
It's okay Shawna, that is life---it happens! As long as you're planning on getting it out, then it's cool! Hope things slow down for ya, and they get the bridge fixed soon! When my ds16 was in K, I took him and a girl, that was in the same class and lived near us, to school, and her mom brought her and my ds home. Well, in a storm, a bridge we went over DAILY to get them to and from school went out! Now get this, it took them NINE MONTHS to get that stupid bridge fixed! I could've had a baby in the same amount or less time! Hope your bridge doesn't take that long!
wow - I can't believe it would take that long to fix the bridge...I mean, what are you supposed to do in the meantime?
I have never known a bridge here to fall down! So I guess I don't have any real concept of how long it takes, or what it's like. In some places here we still have car ferries to cross rivers. I wonder why they don't use those during the rebuilding?
Ok ladies the Journal is going out today!!! YAY!!! ThE bridge was fixed over the weekend!!! FINALLY!!! Now I can get to the mailbox without having to go 20 minutes around. There was so much stuff I wanted to put in the journal so I kinda made the postcards "flip style". It was sooooo much fun doing it !! Sooo, it will be on its way today!!!
Ok......I am so ding dong lately that I just saw this! A bayou is a body of water (think like a canal) that can resemble a river, but smaller. They can run over 100 feet deep in some areas. They are used around here to transport sugar and carbon black mostly.
Well, in our area, the bridge was just over a creek. So that wouldn't work. Yippee! Who's getting it next?
Oh wow! We will be watching for it. Does anyone know about when we can expect it? I don't know how big it is or how it was mailed so I am just wondering when it will be here. I will let you all know when it gets here in cold NC. Beth
Hey Beth!! I mailed it today!! It is in a brown envelope and it will be from Louisiana! I meant to mail it yesterday but the little one I sit for snuck out of her play pen (it is in our classroom) and took everything off the shelf ~without making a sound!! So by the time I got it all back on the shelf the Post office had already closed! Sooooooo, you can start to look for it in 2-3 days!

It's here!! And just in time for the snow. It is supposed to start in the morning. Yuck! We have had a ball reading and looking at the postcards and pictures. I plan on us finishing and having it in the mail by Tuesday. Would say Monday but it is a holiday. I am so glad we got a chance to do this with everyone. Beth
yay! Doing the happy dance here...and singing a funny little song about Carolina (that we are making up, lol) I will pm the next person now, then let you know the address Beth. BTW, I think snow sounds fun, but then we never get any.
Karen and everyone else, The email came with the next person's name and we went to the post office and wished the journal a speedy journey. We had a great time with this and hated to see it go. I hope everyone has enjoyed reading the entries as much as we did. I do hope it makes another trip around the list once the book is full. I would like to see it completed.
