Yeah - I hadn't thought of that, but you are right. I don't want my kids info out there either. If we can figure out a secure way to do it, so that only people with a password can access it, I will do it when it gets back here. The other thought I am having is that maybe after it comes home, if people are keen to see it again, we could send it around again and people could add new details - new questions maybe? What do you all think?
This would be alot...but we could give Karen our email addresses.....ok..so the work would be on karen's end since she would have to send them all individually...but it is a thought?
if people would like to see it scanned, what could be done by the last person is they set up a photobucket account specifically for this, have the account set to private with a "guest password" --- then, the account link and guest password is emailed to only those here who participated.... when your PB account is private like that, it can't be accessed by anyone without the guest password -- and also, a guest password doesn't allow the guest to make any changes (ie, they can't add photos or remove photos), only the account owner with the normal password can do that... granted, you still have people being able to save the images if they wanted to -- but considering that they already had the information/pictures/etc right in their actual hands, that's sort of a moot point. the other option would be to scan it and then send the file individually via email to those who participated -- for that, though, everyone involved would have to be comfortable with downloading attachments and have the appropriate programs to open them, etc etc... the PB option would be a lot easier, IMO....
I can put it pretty deep in a file on the HSIZ website. You'd pretty much have to have the whole path to find it. Just a thought. I think if it one file then I can put a password on the file itself but...would have to investigate to make sure.
What if we would keep circulating it, adding to it, maybe more questions and at the end of the cycle send it back to AussieMum and she can start the cycle all over. Keep it going for months, years, etc.

are we last? i wasn't sure where on the list we were :lol: unfortunately i don't own a scanner. if it lands here and people want to see it via private PB account, the only way i could do it would be to take photos with my digital -- which should work fairly well if i can get the right lighting, since i do have a closeup function on my camera, and i have some photo editing software that could brighten/sharpen/etc if need be... i'd sure be willing to try if people want to see and are fine with the PB account way, up to all those who have their stuff in it... sending it 'round again would prolly be pretty awesome too - and rather neat to have it continue for a long time, being added to and stuff.
I am just happy that we are talking about the end of the journey with this journal....not because I want it to be done with, but because it is still with us and not lost "out there" somewhere!! I didn't think we were going to get it back! It will be fun to see it when it is done!!
It is amazing how this thing has taken on a life of it's own I think that the safest thing is for everyone not to scan/post anything on the web. And for those who wish to see it once it's completed, we can send it to them again, after it has come home so we can see it too! I agree with O'hio G'ma - it would be kinda nice to continue circulating and adding to it. I would also be happy to send the file via email to individuals who participated. I am more concerned about our children's safety than the abount of work it would be. The www is not the safest place out there, kwim? After I get it back, if another way to safely share it comes up, I will contact each participant and ask thier permission first, and leave out the pages done by anyone who doesn't agree. Does that sound like a workable plan to everyone?
www.blogger.com allows "private" blogs...so she could set up the blog, scan the images, and then "invite" the folks who want to view it, to view it. I have a family site this way...I've invited ONLY folks I want to see it. Does this help?

I took it to the post office late this afternoon on the way to the library! It shouldn't take long to get there at all. We really had fun doing this. Grace enjoyed anwering the questions too. Of course I typed them for her.
YAY! It is now in the Great State of Louisiana!!!! Sorry~things have been kinda crazy, so I didnt get to post asap that I had gotten it. Can you believe that I totally forgot it was coming with all the craziness that was going on here??? When I saw it in the mail, my first thought was, "I wonder what sample I ordered that came in this big ole' envelope!!" (I am always ordering free samples and free stuff, so things come in all the time!), and when I realized what it was, dd and I looked and read through it for over an hour. This week we will be reading the entries and marking them on a map of the US. Although for Aussiemum, I need the world map! lol!! For those ladies that are waiting for it, you are in for a treat!! It is sooooo very awsome!! Really, Good Morning America should do a segment on us for doing this!! lol!! We are planning what to put in to give all of you a "taste" of Lousiana (heehee get it? Taste? SOUTH Lousiana is known for its cusine, I sure wish I could send along something edible for everyone!!) Hugs to all!
