Maybe we can all put together some a box of school supplies and some clothes our children don't wear. Once we hear from Vicki. Vicki does us alot from Sam's and Wal mart. I am sure. But we all might have some extra to help her. Lets all pray they are ok.
Does anyone here talk to Vicky directly enough to know clothing sizes, etc.? I want to help as much as possible but lack the knowledge to start gathering up stuff.
I'm in too! If several of us are prepared to send things when we hear from her, it might help "lighten her load" a bit.
I'd be willing, too, I don't think we'll be able to until we hear something definite. And that may be several months. Even if we had an address, it is doubtful she'd be there. We have no way to get in touch with her to see what is needed.
I'm in... I was thinking about that last night while I was working. Lord knows I have enough stuff to send from here. Is there anyone here that lives closer to where she was from who we could ship this all to or do you wait and send it directly to her?
I think we should all wait, till we hear from her then she will give us address and we can send it to her. Right now I don't think is a good time. I just wanted everyone to start thinking about her and thinking what they had so they could put some things together. Have it ready when we do hear from her so we can sent it to her. I don't know if anyone talks to her other then on here. Lets all keep praying we hear from her soon.
Does anyone know what state she lived in? Some got hit worst then others lets hope it wasn't here state?
Maybe Amanda will know. Of course, she won't want to "publish" anything that she shouldn't, but perhaps she has some information from when Vicky joined that isn't public knowledge......???
I think Vicky said she was from Mississippi, but I could be wrong. I'm watching Ted Koppel rip a FEMA guy a new one. This guy is totally out of touch, and it shows why that area seems to be at a standstill. And where's our illustrious president? Vacation over yet??
He cut his vacation short several days ago, Becky. Even I knew that, and I don't get the paper or watch TV. I heard today that with all the attention on Biloxie and New Orleans, all the small towns are being totally ignored. (I DO listen to the radio news in the morning, LOL!) Some of these people took a direct hit, and are frustrated to see the relief trucks rolling right past them to places with highter populations. They are just as effected. They were saying that many of these small places are inhabited by poor Blacks living in mobile homes.
I was looking in my email last night and I have Vicky's email address... I sent a message to her in the event she can someday get it and told her we're all praying for her (I also asked her to let us know if she's ok). Who was it that said it doens't look like the US down there? What boggles my mind was when the Tsunami's hit in Asia (just one incident I can recall), the US (and other countries) were right there within a matter of days. Here's a tragedy similar to the Tsunami in your own country and help is struggling to get in?!? Puzzling (although I did see last night that many many other countries have offered to help out).
Brenda I agree 100 percent why do we run and help someone right away but then again forget our people right here. They should of been there the day after the hurricane hit unstead of today. Maybe and I say maybe it wouldn't of gotten so bad. I don't understand why they are having so much trouble getting help there we should of been there without questions. All we can do know is pray for them poor people.
It does seem to have taken time to get help out. Part of that was the flooding that occured after the hurricane. From what I understand, people thought it was "over", that New Orleans was now "safe", and previously evacuted people began to return. Then the levee from from the lake was breached and flooded the town. But when the help DID arrive, they were hampered by the looters.
Jackie that is true and so sad I wish people would be thankful they are alive and be alittle patient. I understand it's got to be hard and looter is not helping anything but I heard it's very common when something like this happen so scarey. I really don't know what I would do if I was in it. I would just have to put it in God's hand and pray.
