Candy canes! My secret sister was AMY U. And she did the greatest ornaments, she made 6 fabric candy canes, and they smell good too! she included the Legend of the candy cane. (I'll share it if any one wants) she also sent candy cane bookmarks for the kids and a sweet card. Amy Thank you so much for the sweet orniments!
Amy your welcome. No bugs can eat these candy canes, I hope! I'm glad the scent lasted, thats one part I was not sure of. I love making things for Christmas.
Well that was the end of the ornament exchange here. Everyone got their ornaments. Thanks to all you took part and made this so much fun. Maybe we will do it again next year. Lorna
I do not know it was a new thing for me to see. I do not know how she made them smell. I will describe it like this, you know the piping on the edge of seat cushion, it was like 2 of those (red & white) entertwined together, I'm not sure how she made them stiff like a cane. but they are about 6 inches long. and about 3/4 inch thick. They look nice on our tree.
wow okay cool, I think I can figure it from there, could be a good craft for my kids! mayhaps she used some tacky glue or starch for stiffener? ( i been reading olde english lately haha) and perhaps extract of peppermint?
I got the craft from family mag. (I think). What I did was cut 2 squares of fabric the same size and a peice of wire just a little bit smaller.( you can use pipe cleaners too.) It said to take tacky glue and paint the fabric and roll them up. Then let them dry. You put the wire in when you start to roll. I used a glue gun on mine. You also tuck in the ends for a cleaner look. Then once you have two rolled up peices of rolled up fabric you twiced them together I used the glue gun again to tack them at the top and the bottom. For the scent, I looked all over for pepermint scent and couldn't find any. So I used candy cane bubble bath and water together and let them sit over night. I scanned the directions but I can't get them to post sorry. But they were really easy and fun to make.
