Tina~ LOL- I just have to laugh because I have always had you pictured as really tall and thin- and here you are 5'2"- LOL!!! I had the dark hair right in my mind though, but probably would have pictured it short! Isn't it funny how you get a visual picture of somebody just from "hearing" them talk on the net?! Good for you~ you be a girly-girl~ you need to be since you're so outnumbered at your house!
Actually, Tina, a HS'ing friend of mine has 6 boys, ranging from 5 to 22. The oldest will be married a year this January. She was SO EXCITED, because she FINALLY has someone on her side. She said painted the walls. The boys all complained, "MOM!!! They're PINK!!!" So her DIL stopped by and OOHed and AAHed over the beautiful "rose" walls.....
There would definitly be a pause in the universe if I went pink. A few years back about 60 pounds ago. I went somewhere. I walked into the wrecking yard wearing makeup and something other than steel toed boots. The guys stood there starring and one of them said Look It's Barbie.I think it was the first time they had seen me without a grease streak on my face.I am slightly out numbered here. I do ocasionally wear makeup. You might get me into a dress boot. I DON'T do heels.
Heidi.. You know what is so funny is that most of my friends are tall....one of my best friends is 6 feet, but guess who wears all the BIG jewelry, heels and *loud stuff*. YEP.. I have to be *girly girl* to survive around here.. One of my girlfriends is expecting her 3rd child and she has 2 boys, and really was praying for a girl. Well she got it! She promptly went home and hung a pink chandelier and bought a huge pink area rug for the baby girl room. The other day when I found out and cried with her we were so happy it was a girl, then I came home and felt like crying with dh Sometimes I wished I had been granted that girl, it would be special to have.. I don't know as my parents always say and I believe too,God has seen to it the right kids get with the right parents or mom in this case. I pray that all of my future dil will be loving! What is so funny about all this is that my MIL has 3 boys (just like me) and WOW what a tight relationship we have now after she got over the hsing issue... My parents say see God is taking care of everyone's needs!
Tina, When I got pregnant with my third one, my husband started singing the theme song to "My Three Sons", and said, You know it's a boy, we don't know how to make girls!" But that little thing perservered, and we got our girl! Even though I had an ultrasound and they said it showed it was a girl, I didn't believe it until she came out and I saw with my own eyes. Those were my first words after she was born..."It really IS a girl!!!" I absolutely LOVE having a daughter! But if she would've been a boy (her name would've been Zachary), I would be like you---love him as much as any mom can love a child, but just have little twinges now and then of wondering what it would be like to have a girl! I agree, GOd knows best! We THINK we know best sometimes, but in the long run the way God works is the way things should be!
Heidi mentioned getting a visual of someone even though you only talk to them online. I have to say that when I saw the Hershey pictures all you girls looked just like I thought you might. Somebody start a thread- 'Here's who I thought you looked like.' LOL.
Tina, that friend I mentioned with all the boys... Her boys have been trained to do the housework, change diapers, cook dinner, etc. We always teased her that, if her sons didn't rise up and call her blessed, her DIL's sure would, LOL!
Well, no, Crystal, not tall, but you get my drift. You guys just all looked the way you sounded, for lack of a better way to say it. Especially with Jimmi Lu, I wasn't at all surprised to learn she was a minister. Her faith and commitment came through in her posts. She was kind enough to send some puppet scripts to my church but unfortunately they never got used.
I think this is a good thread! It's neat to "hear" how you all look! Who was it that said they have curly hair but hate it and straighten it? You should try "embracing" the hair you have. I have curly hair, and I have people ask me where I got my perm, since it looks so natural! I tell them it IS natural, and they say, "Oh man, you're so lucky to have curly hair---and for free!" So I guess it's a matter of perspective! I used to straighten mine too, but once I found a gel that keeps the frizzies to a minimum, I've let it stay curly. It's soooo much easier that way!
I finally gave into my wild mane and got it layered to get rid of the bulk. It helped my curls get more uniform and now I love my hair for the first time in my life! Hubby doesn't like the price tag on the leave in conditioner, but it is a must have .
What do you use Brooke? I need something that will help with frizzies, I think my hair is getting tired of the one I've been using. Does yours help with that?
The brand is "grund". The product is "tiger reconstructor". There is also one that is tiger reconstructor with moisture, but I prefer the regular reconstructor...and of course the local carrier isn't getting it anymore!!!! :x Might have to have my bro in St. Louis send me some more. My hair is thick and gets frizzy with humidity really bad. My curl is not uniform either...at least it wasn't until I started using that product. Now it looks like normal curly hair. The hair cut helped a bunch too...it was previously long and all one length.
I have more of a natural wave. I can easily straighten it or curl it up with some type of product. I do have frizzes on rainy days. I found that the spray in curl enhancers help with that.
Deena, I have the curly hair but straighten it. It really depends on the length of my hair. If it's a little longer I will put moose in it and scrunch it dry. When it's short it looks horrible curly...it looks like a big brown afro! Right now it's middle length so it's getting there. I have such thick hair that it gets bushy easily. And also, using too many hair products causes me to have breakouts so I don't like to use too much stuff in my hair too frequently and if I don't use it my hair looks aweful, so the only way around it is to straighten it. I don't have the kind of hair that can just air dry and look nice...it has to be "done". I also like frequent changes. I get bored easily and need to change my hair often. I probably have 4-5 different hairstyles a year.
That makes sense Jen! I actually doblow-dry my hair once in awhile too, but it's just as frizzyfor me when it's like that, and the curl starts creeping back in a couple hours after I blow-dry it. Does yours do that? Nice picture, btw! I can picture you looking like that! As if that matters...hehe You have one little one? Are you gonna have more sometime ya think? Kids are a lot of work---but worth as they get older and do their chores, which takes the weight off of you doing everything! Really, though, I love my kids so much I can't believe it! Before I had them I never knew the depth of love a mom has for her children, despite the way they drive us crazy sometimes! Okay, I'm rambling, so I'll stop now!
The hubby and I are in the middle of an argument, I mean, conversation about having another one. I can see his points though. We live in a very cozy house, plus with as many kids as I have I would have to boot one out if I want to remain legal with my daycare. He would like to wait until our son is in Kindergarten, but if I had it my way I'd have one right now and not look back. I LOVED being pregnant! My curls do creep back if it's really humid, but since I bought this new straightener it hasn't given me any problems. It's from Vidal Sasoon and it gets really hot, which is what my hair needs. I also use this stuff from Catwalk that I put in my hair before I blow dry it and it seems to help.
