Home School Name We live on Apple Tree Ave. I call our home school Apple Tree Elementary Its easier to use a name when you have to sighn up for something as a teacher if you have a name for your school.
Crystal~ I'll have to think on a good name for your school, though I do like Jackie's suggestion. You have such a nice street name that I may incorporate that somehow, followed by Academy or whatever. Kris~ Gracie would definitely love the name of your school, as she is sure she is a princess! Missy~ I have a cousin who is married to a Missy, who is also Missy Miller! (Miller being a pretty common last name, I'm sure there's alot more of "you" out there! Just thought I'd share!) There are some really original names out there- some of you are very creative. I especially think the Hafadai one should win for originality! Oh, and Becky~ I made up a business-card on the computer, which I then laminated. It has the name, address, and phone number of our homeschool, says "Educator Identification" under it, and I put "Signature:" and a blank line, which I signed. When we were shopping at the Book Sale in Lancaster, I saw a sign that said 15% off for all teachers. I asked and he said "I would need to see id of some sort". I pulled out the card, asked if it would work, and he said "definitely". I was pretty excited, as that was the first time I actually used it anywhere!
Crystal could call it "Sky's the Limit" or "Eight is Enough" or "Birthing Pains" OR "Bearing Fruit"...
No, Brenda, not "Eight is Enough"! Who's to say she and Rod plan on stopping there? Though I do like "The Sky's the Limit", LOL!
Becky, because I own my own daycare and it's out of my home I use the discounts when I can. I've never been asked for ID. They only ask where I work and then I say, "I own my own preschool". My daycares name is Frogs Pond Family Christian Learning Center. I have always been a frog collector and you see many frogs on Christian merchandise so I used it. My "mascot" is a frog with angel wings and a halo. If I open a daycare at my church within a year or two I'd like to name is Kids For Christ Learning Center.
We are Sonrise Christian School. When we started out, I found a list of Christian schools on the web and printed it out. I put some combinations together that I thought sounded good and let the boys decide on the final name. I wanted to use "academy" but I don't think they were sure what that meant and they just wanted to be a "school".
Ours is Heavenward Homeschool. "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14
JEN!!! Do you, by some great miracle, have the paper about the "purpose of the church is to kiss frogs"? PLEASE, PLEASE SAY YES!!!! I read it first in high school, then heard it later in college. I had a copy of it in my Bible, but finally lost it. I use to collect frogs, too!
Do you know what FROG stand for? F ully R ely O n G od Jackie, What is that paper about? I've never heard of it. Please enlighten me .
Hey, Jackie! I'm "paying it forward" with the name thing...now Brenda gets to name someone else's school! Heidi! I love the business card idea! When I lived in IL, by law homeschools are private schools...not sure now that I'm an Ioweegan. Actually, here is so backward that the private Christian schools fall under the same laws we do and all the parents whose children attend have to file forms with the state for their kids just like homeschoolers do.
I offered suggestions for Crystal - does that count? What about expanding borders? Crystal - I mean no harm - really - I admire you. I don't think I could handle eight children (or more
A few years ago I asked my children to come up with a name for our school. They decided on "Learning Through Life Academy". Not sure where they came up with that name but it has stuck ever since.
I have been reading everyone's awesome school names. We have ours that is not a real serious one. I need some help with a serious name. Any suggestions?
settlers... how about "Narrow Path Academy"? (It's a narrow path those of us who home school and it's an even narrower path those of us who walk with the Lord). What are the names of your children - maybe you could use their initals as some kind of acronymn (?sp). How many children did you say you have? This could be fun... naming others' schools...
