"You keep using that word...."

    I drives me insane *literally* :) When people say ya instead of yes. It isn't even a full yeah, just ya. I am not sure if it is a local thing or not, but there are so many people here who speak like that.

    One more thing is when people type redneck post. There some people I know who write things like "birfday" "thas nuf" I mean it is bad enough for them to speak like that, why do they have to write like that too. I know they can at least spell birthday.

    This whole thread makes me feel weird about posting. Because my grammar is horrible! There is hope though. I have only taught up to 2nd grade we haven't gotten past prepositions. Hopefully the second time around I will catch on. ;)

    I think this is a TX thing! My kids have picked up on it since moving here. I hate it. How hard is it to say "yes"?

    I have been thinking the same thing!!! :lol:
    I had to look up what each meant when I first started reading this forum!!! I didn't understand it at all :oops:

    My husband hates it when people say "I know right".... so being the wonderful wife I am, I say it as much as I can :lol:

    It seems lately, that I hear "mortified" being used incorrectly. This drives me nuts! Also, at my church, during Sunday school, the word "eschewed" has been used several times in the past few months. (I don't usually hear it very often). They have been pronouncing it "eskewed." It makes me want to scream! And these are intelligent people using these words!

    Cool, is another over-used word.
