Correct, direct deposit will get theirs earlier.

One question that I have which I have not found the answer to:
What if you have to owe money on your tax return?
Then do those fall under the paper check?

We are also direct deposit. Yeah. How exciting to get money that you were not expecting.

I have no clue if we are direct deposit or not. I think we may be if I remember from last year.

Okay so I just thought of something. My ex husband owes me thousands in back child support. Every year I get his tax return which is around $1000. So will I get his rebate too? I should right?

I would think that you should get his rebate if you are getting his tax returns.

Mamabear, if you've never gotten a return I think you would get a paper check, since they will not have your bank information for a direct deposit. If you just owe this year but have used direct deposit in the past, you may get yours deposited.

    Okay another question.......

what if someone filed early and will be getting their return via direct deposit before May? Will the rebate come with the return early or what?

The direct deposit will be based on the acct. # you supplied in the 2007 tax return you filed this year.

Are there conditions that could change the amount of my direct deposits?

There are several factors that could change the amount of your tax refund - resulting in either a larger or smaller refund than expected. Examples that could increase your refund are math errors and other mistakes. Examples that could decrease your refund include math errors, mistakes, owing delinquent federal taxes, state taxes, child support, student loans, or other delinquent federal obligations or if the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) portion of your refund is withheld pending further review.

Got this from the irs web site. Looks like you hit the jack pot this year!

I don't think it will come early, it sounds like they aren't going to start giving them out until May.

I know a lady on the welfare who owes child support for her two kids in another state. The kids are ages 8 and 10. Anyway, the state welfare office took her drivers license away until she got caught up on her back child support.

Someone asked about owing taxes. This is the best I could find.

My ex got behind when he decided he was going to move out of the country for a year and not pay a dime. He was about $6000 behind when he came back. He is supposed to be paying me an extra $150 each month in support to pay it off but he doesn't and so each year I get his tax return until it is paid off. Problem for him is that each month that he doesn't pay the back child support (even though he pays the current amount for the month) it adds interest of something like 6%. So what was $6000 is ultimately going to cost him more. Fine with me. At this rate I should be getting child support until Samantha is 21 instead of 18!!

We were also told by our tax man that we will receive our rebate later since we are not receiving a direct deposit. How ever it works out, I am glad. We thought we would have to owe this year. We aren't getting much back but anything is better than owing.;)

This happened to my BIL. His tax returns are automatically sent to my sister. His wages are garnished when he sticks to a job long enough for them to be garnished. He has a slip of paper that says he can only drive to work and back. He still drives everywhere.

I am excited we should get ours by May 9th. That comes right before the start of our used curriculum fairs in the area and before our convention. I know I am going to have to work hard to restrain myself from what I buy. I want that money to last awhile.

Me, too. We need new tires on our van, so we'll probably do that and save the rest.

We received our letter today. Man this should be a good year for us. I know we are getting several thousand from the IRS plus our rebate plus my ex husband's tax return and rebate!! Woo Hoo!!

Comes in handy too. Within the next two weeks we will be having teh exterior of our house painted. Then within the next two months we are having our kitchen, entry and office floors redone. I also need to buy curriculum for next year and we have a big vacation coming up in August. What a blessing!

I found this on another forum.

Someone was asking if we have received a notice about this. I received mine a week or 2 ago and this is how it will play out. they will use the last two digits of the primary filer’s Social Security number.

If the IRS has your banking information on file, as they would if you entered the information on your 2007 tax return in anticipation of a refund via direct deposit, these are the dates by which you will (most likely) receive your refund.

    00 through 20: May 2
    21 through 75: May 9
    76 through 99: May 16

If the IRS does not have your direct deposit information on file, then you can expect a check to arrive based on this schedule (approximately).

    00 through 09: May 16
    10 through 18: May 23
    19 through 25: May 30
    26 through 38: June 6
    39 through 51: June 13
    52 through 63: June 20
    64 through 75: June 27
    76 through 87: July 4
    88 through 99: July 11

And there you have it, so you will know how soon you will get yours.
