Deena, she grouses here and there. Mostly when she's tired. No where near like it was. She always asks me what pattern I will use for her spelling words each week. Last week was giant mice, this week was giant butterflies. I print them on neon copy paper to make them nice and bright, and she likes to see what's next. She also likes to choose the order of what we do each day, and that's been helping. It puts her in charge, so to speak.
Oh...I am dying here. It is 11:30 pm and we have not heard a word. I feel like it might mean that we did not get in. Dh said he doesn't think that means that. He said I just need to be patient. It's getting harder to do that. I hope I hear something tomorrow!
Will they let you know either way--whether you do or don't get in? I wonder, like Momothem, if they'll call, email, or write? If today was the drawing, I wonder how much time they'll take to notify the winners? Well, I'll have to go to bed without knowing! Maybe tomorrow!
I agree with your husband. They might actually do the selection of Friday, but that doesn't mean they will notify you that soon. Also, where I'm from there are many alternative schools. Sometimes parents will put their child in the lottery of three or four different ones, hoping to get into ONE of them. Then they might get picked for more than one, and will have to decide which one. That will leave an additional opening for the other one. So they also create a "waiting list". It isn't unusual for a person on the waiting list to be told they "made it" AFTER school starts, because kids simply don't show up!
They gave information to us that said they will be notifying us (one way or the other) by email on the #)30th. They also will be sending out a postcard. At that point, if accepted, we are given a 4 week time frame to complete the registration process (all the paperwork, school records, etc). So, I am not sure. I have to say I am feeling a little more disappointed than I thought I would about the thought of not getting in. I have been on the fence about it all along. So my feelings have kind of surprised me. I have been glued to the computer and checking the website as much as I have been able to.
Our pastor told us recently that the next time we face disappointment we should look back over our past and notice the many times we can give thanks for the Lord's "no" answers. To some of our most ardent prayers, and to our most bitter disappointments, we will later see that the "no" or "wait" answers were a great blessing. That's been a helpful exercise for me--particularly regarding some of the dashing young men I thought I could have died for! The Lord had to close all the doors until the perfect one for me came along! So, too, in retrospect, you will see that during these days all the right doors are being opened for you--even if it's the door back into your own home.
Thank you, PH, that is helpful. Keeping thngs in perspective and not losing sight of the fact that God is in contol. And I trust His way more than any other! Guess what my dh just asked me? UGH! He said, "have you been checking the bulk mail folder, too?" NOOOOO....I haven't!! He said I need to be checking that because if ther are sending out that many responses it could go directly to our bulk mail folder! so I may have gotten the response and deleted it!!!!! If that is the case, then I will have to wait for my postcard in the mail. I am so sad! I didn't even think about that. I NEVER check my bulk mail...I just delete it.
Oh Leslie! I know that must be frustrating! I was wondering at one point why I hadn't heard from a good friend in awhile. Her mail suddenly started going to my junk mailbox! I was never checking them, just letting the system delete its ownself. Now I check! I hope you hear the news that you want to hear!
I have a habit of deleting my emails then have to go resend to someone, so I know you can check this out ---->>>>>CHeck your Deleted files you may still have it!
I tried what you suggested...but I guess when that file is emptied, it is gone. No going back to it! But thanks for trying to help me!
Or I was going to suggest checking your trash can. I don't know how often mine empties itself, but it is worth checking.
I never open junk mail either. Maybe I shouldn't just delete it. I may be missing something important! I was really hoping to see that you got in when I checked today. Maybe you will still get an email today.
I ran to the grocery store and when I got home I came to the computer...and there it was. My email notifying me that we did NOT get it. They said that we should finish the registration process to be put on a waiting list if we really want to get in in the future. So, dh is out playing golf right now, so when he gets home we will need to sit down and discuss what now. I think he is going to be ok with us continuing on with hsing the kids, but he has not exactly said that yet. Thank you so much to all of you for all the prayers. There are so appreciated. I will keep you informed of what we decide from here.
Oh Leslie, I am so sorry that things did not turn out the way you planned. I hope you are not too disappointed. I know you'll come up with the right solution for your family.

I'm so sorry Leslie! That must be disappointing! I can almost feel the "NOW what do we do?!!!" question! BUT, God must have something even better planned for you and your children!
