 Im in Ca, we tried the up to SD then over to Wa the mountians ( Continental Divide) through there is so hard on cars. My last mini van made it as far as Oregon coast on the way home. Not something I want to revisit. We had had the car tuned up and checked up prior to trip, transmission had been serviced even and it died on us.
So I am not looking to taking a long trip again. But my inlaws are pushing for us to go to SD to family reunion. the Ill one in Wa is my mom, my last parent alive so I am biased. We really enjoyed the trip back then up to the point where we found our our home had been robbed and then the car broke down as we tried to salvage the last few days of our trip driving down teh coast trying to rest knowing the neighbors had already told the police everything and all we could do is pray anyway.. thats when the car died, Lol.

Last summer we went camping with the inlaws, instead of staying at my dads, we were going to camp on his property he had driving his riding mower around and everything so we could.... but didn't happen that way.

Okay I am not trying to complain, just trying to look at it differntly and pray that Gas prices will go down so if we do do the round robin again the car will be happy! and so will I!

I've driven over the Continental Divide, so I know exactly what you're talking about! I was 16, and our brakes gave us problems on the way down. We ended up spending two nights unexpectedly in Durango, Co. while they got them fixed. Seems no matter what you decide, someone will be frustrated. Sometimes you're simply in a no-win situation.

:) We may get to just stay near by home and camp as a family for a few days, I think that would be wonderful! We have a good group of friends who are having a 4th of July camp out and we have been invited to join them as well... same weekend as the reunion so the kids won't be disapointed if we do that one instead. This group has been trying to get us to go with them for quite some time too. So nice to be so wanted every where eh? :D
I think I am just feeling guilty for not wanting to go do either family thing this year. But when you are the ones who do the traveling each time they want to visit it gets monotonous. :?
