I really don't know why she did that. Maybe just maybe some of that sweet little girl is still there. :D
I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about my dd. She and I sometimes can get along, and have a very good mother and daughter relationship. Then there are days when she drives me crazy, and I just need to get away from her for a little while.
I will not let her get away with much, and the things that I do let her really doesn't matter. I am trying very hard to stay calm and not show her when I am upset, because if she sees me getting angry, she will then know what to do to make me angry.
I am going by a quote: " Those who anger you control you."

I just would like to say again, Thank you ladies for listening, and your advice means a lot to me. :D :D :D :D

By the way. Who is David Bowie?

    Vicki,

Your sweet little girl is still inside. Just think of this as her pupa stage. It will take a couple of years but she will emerge from her chrysalis as a beautiful young lady and fly away.

(Can you tell we just did a unit on insects? Hee hee!)

    Brooke,

My favorite smiley site is Planet Smilies

    http://www.planetsmilies.com/modules/news/

To use a smiley from their site (or any site like it), you pick a smiley, copy the URL right underneath it, go back to the "post a reply" page, type [IMG]. You can use the Img button on the "post a reply" page if you forget the code. Click the Img button, paste your smiley URL after it and then click the Img button again.

    Cool!

No, She I have never heard of him. I was never allowed to listen to rock/pop music, growing up.
I can tell you every song that The Gather's have sung. I did however listen to it with my friends, but never knew who sung what song. And didn't care really.
I also grew up with out television. So I have no idea who any actors are. I have seen some tv shows at friends homes, but never cared much about them.
We still don't have a television in our home. And the only type of music we listen to is Christian. My kids are not missing out on anyting except garbage.

And we are Southern Baptist. Have been all my life.

I had to laugh. I had heard of David Bowie, but that's it. Just: "a name of a celebrity, singer, maybe?" Didn't recognize ONE song She listed! Partly that's my sheltered upbringing (yep, Baptist!), partly because I never really got hooked on popular music. Listened to some off and on as a teenager, but usually didn't know who was singing! (Beatles, Air Supply, stuff like that.) My brother could tell you who the artist was, when the song came out, etc. I'm not good at identifying the classical composers, either. I love Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, etc. but can't tell you whose music I'm listening to, unless I check the CD! Anyone's parents listen to Peter, Paul and Mary or Tijuana Brass? My dh laughed when we compared our parents' favorite records -- nearly identical collections!

When I was a college student, I'd get in a mood and nothing would satisfy me but Meatloaf. Whenever I'd turn it on, my roommates would roll their eyes and say, "Watch out! Jackie's in a heathen mood today!" I always thought "Bat out of Hell" was an incredible song...reminded me of myself, a good, by-the-Book Baptist girl and my rather rebellious boyfriend, LOL!

Hey Jackie didn't Meatloaf also sing "Two of Three Ain't Bad." Some of it went I want you, I need you but I can't remember the other part. Then it goes Two out of Three ain't bad.

Yes, and also "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" But I think my favorite was "Crying Out Loud", I think is the name. It was years later, I was heading up to Chicago to visit my best friend (and also to see the same rebellious (ex-) boyfriend) when I heard "Total Eclipse of the Heart". That song fascinated me; there was something about it, like there was so much more to it than I was grasping, KWIM? Anyway, I mentioned it to him. He told me it was written by the same guy that did Meatloaf's stuff. I think he's one incredible song writer.

Sigh.... Now I'll probably go to bed at night thinking of that ex-..... *If you leave me now, You'll take away the biggest part of me........."

You guys are cracking me up. Usually I'm one of a few who remembers those songs. I loved all those power ballads too but... here's one to throw you for a loop... who remembers the Bay City Rollers? I can't believe I'm admitting it

I remember them, but can't think of anything they did. I was telling DH about this thread right before I went to bed last night...he heard me laughing and wanted to know what was so funny. So we ended up laying in bed and singing lines from all those songs...we did "American Pie", "I know a heartache when I see one", "Stairway to Heaven", "Desperado", ELO, Crosby Stills and Nash, QUEEN!!! ("Seaside Rendevous") UNTIL MIDNIGHT!!!! Geesh! My BIL married a girl 15 years younger than him, and DH was commenting that they really don't share the same songs, because they grew up so many years apart.

I remember the Bay City Rollers! I had forgotten about them until you mentioned it. I used to have a big crush on them.

I also had a big one for the BCR, especially the drummer, Derek. I read not long ago he was in trouble for molesting elderly patients at the hospital where he worked, plus he eas suspected of having a relationship with a teenage boy. Disgusting.
