I was just thinking about Jackie and her husband thinking that couple with a wide age span doesn't share music....

I'm younger than DH who graduated in '89 and has all of Air Supply's greatest hits on his mental recorder  , yet I liked the "oldies" from the late 60's and early '70's....guess I shoulda married an old guy, huh?! Actually, we both just like music, period, and always seem to know each other's favorites even if we don't share the same opinion on them

And to conclude the Meatloaf question.......

"I want you...(echo-I want you)....I need you (I need you), but there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you......Now don't be sad (don't be sad), cuz two outa three ain't bad...."

I have no clue who any of you are talking about.
I feel so left out. I like Bluegrass music the best. Anyone like that type of music.
My dh has tried to tell me who all of the groups y'all are talking about. But he doesn't have any of his old tapes to let me hear them. Except one, some group called 38 Special.

Anybody listened to the radio while watching a movie at the drive in theater? and bring your own food too  How many people were in your trunk?

Jackie I remember Paradise by the Dashboard light also.

Thanks Brooke, I have been trying to figure the rest of that song out all day.

Does anyone remember Muskrate Love? I can't remember anymore of their songs. The Barry Manalow songs on love.

I'm just wondering if I am the old around here. 40 is getting over the hill.

...and not just the tapes but the eight tracks too  we used to bebop around to Leo Sayre- "you make me feel like dancing- gonna dance the night away"

Muskrat love- wasn't that The Captain and Tenille?

About being 40- I'm about ready to topple over!

"I write the songs that make the whole world sing......
I write the songs of love and special things.....
I write the songs that make the young girls cry.....
I write the songs, I write the songs......"

Don't forget John Denver!!! When we were studying the states, my poor DDs got a "concert" of "Country Roads" when we hit West Virginia! Didn't Captian and Tenille also do "Tie a Yellow Ribbon"?

Sonny and Cher...."I GOT YOU, BABE!!!!" (Which, I admit, goes back to the VERY beginning of my music awareness days!)

    Jackie,
Tony Orlando and Dawn sang Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree. Cher use to sing Gypsy, Tramps & Thieves. Remember Little Red Corvette by Prince. Sweet Home Alabama by Leornard Syknard. Remeber the group Alabama. The song that you lit a lighter to.

And what exactly was it you were lighting there, Trish  !

Yes, it WAS Tony Orlando - my mistake. But The Captain and Tenille DID do "Do that to me one more time...." I heard her talking about that song. Her mother was shocked at it, and she said "Mom, it was JUST KISSING!!!" Boy! Can you imagine Brittany Spears' mom saying something?

Cher also did "Black Lady"...another gypsy song.

Vicky!!! You are not the only bluegrass fan here, so don't feel too left out! I listen to a little of everything myself. From Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, and Bing Crosby to Alice Cooper and Dr. Hook! Also into the blues. 8) I've been to the "Wheatland Bluegrass Festival" in Michigan a couple times. That's always fun!! Always wanted to learn how to play the banjo too, but the darn things are too expensive!! Can't find anybody that listens to "my" music............

Tina, yes I am over being mad.
I am having a ball reading these post.
I loved the song Contry Roads.
Also got on an 80's raido station and listen to it. I heard most of the songs that y'all are talking about.
Found some tapes that belonged to my brother, of Journey, and Suvivor, Deaf Leapord.
Want to go looking again to see what else I can find.
That music is cool, I really liked it.
    :D :D :D :D

I STILL have 8 tracks. All Elvis and 2 Star Wars soundtracks. My husband and I still collect LPs!!
We have an old radio, record player and 8 track cabinet (all in one ) got it for $20 at an estate sale 10 years ago.
My girls know the 50-60s music , some heavy metal, and I collect movie soundtracks. I have the King and I, West Side Story, My Fair Lady , Grease (movie and orginal broardway production which my girls can not listen to) etc. all on LPs. We also have about 10 operas and a collection Hawaiian music.
I have Janis Joplin, almost all of Elvis' movie records ( missing Viva Las Vegas), Huey Lewis and The News, Heart , Led Zepplin and DEVO!! We have over 400 records and I have'nt even counted our Cd's and music downloads yet!!
You think I would be dating myself here but my husband is 30 yrs old and I will be 32 next month!! And to say the least we are all big music fans in this house!!

    "Better shape up!!!
    'Cause I need a man!
And my heart is set on you-hoo!!!"

(Another one that reminded me about the same ex-boyfriend. He and I dated off and on for 11 years, so most songs from back then remind me of him in one way or another, LOL!)

Do any of you old fogeys remember a show on NBC on Friday nights called The Midnight Special? Wolfman Jack was the host.
Remember the song about him called Clap for the Wolfman?

I was telling Randall about us talking about old songs. It is funny how different songs can bring up different memories.

We had to take Vicki to get her blood drawn yesterday for her Depakote level. The hospital was playing a lot of the oldies. I laughed. Elton John was playing for awhile.
