Since we never know what life will bring us, I want Jeannie to do what she needs to do just like a kid in school would have to. TM said, too, about not letting a kid get by with something. I'm going to have to deal with this book report unit, because I don't want Jeannie being the only kid in school that never did a book report. How humiliating for her.
I remember book repot forms in the really young grades. It was a sort of fill in the blank What is the title: who is the author: how many pages: Who is the main charircer: What was your favorite part: Did you like this book: just examples.
One thing I remember doing for a book report in grammer school was make a book cover for the book and another time we made cereal box covers for the book. It was fun. Lorna
We turned a book report into a bookmark using microsoft publisher the other day. It is ds10's second attempt at a book report. He starts with the questions like you mentioned, then turns it into a paragraph. This time we went a step further and 'publised' it as the bookmark. He is really proud of it, and is giving copies to all the family. It was a great way to inspire my reluctant writer. Hopefully next time he will not moan at the thought of a book report!
oh yes! I like that idea too! bookmarks are easier and we canleave it in the book for the next reader!
