Did anyone read about Michele Obama's 540.00 sneakers!? She complained she has to take the dog out. When I took my dog out, I wore indoor/outdoor soled slippers, 9.99 from Avon!

Becky, how do you like your Avon slippers? I was going to purchase some in the past and wasn't sure if I would like them.

I goggled it. They don't look like $540 shoes; they look like something you could get a K-mart for $20. I think she ripped off.

The wealthy out-of-touch politicians who don't have to worry about paying taxes for the bailout aren't in a recession.

Becky, I thought the same thing, alot of times even when he was sworn in why did the kids need that high price cloths to go, and why did her dress have to cost so much, if he was worried about money or cared I should say they should of had something low key, I know it's a special day, but I think it would meet more to everyone if he would of went low key, it would of showed he care. Just my thought.
I think he his like any other president I will give you the rainbow if you give me this. They all are the same, don't really care about the low man...

I do, and they're on sale again! They do stretch out, so you could try a size smaller.

Consider looking at these Avon slippers, Sommer. They're made well and they'll last.

I buy nice shoes for Jeannie and me, but I really watch the circulars so I don't pay full price. I also look at the clearance racks at the nicer stores. I also buy men's sneakers for myself, cause I feel like they're sturdier and made better overall. Plus, I can't wear a soft shoe and it seems like all the women's sneakers are soft.

I tend to buy men's sneakers too - When you wear a woman's size 11 the selection tends to be pretty bad! :)

As for Michelle's sneakers, if I have the money I buy more expensive sneakers myself now. Generally ones in the $100 range and only once they hit the sales rack but still, I find it makes a huge difference in comfort and durability. $500 sneakers? I don't know about that but for good quality sneakers, if I had the money, was a fitness nut and/or in a position where there was a lot of walking involved I wouldn't balk at spending a couple of hundred.

my uncle is a foot doctor and I heard him many times tell his female patients to go in the mens department because the shoes were made better and tended to be cheaper.

Obama never claimd to be poor. He has quite a bit of money. I couldn't care less what any of them wear. As long as it's still a free country, she can pay what she wants for sneakers. I think $500 is high..but do we know for sure that's what they paid. Besides, me paying $200 for sneakers or shoes with my income is probably more outrageous than her paying $500 being a millionarie, relatively speaking. lol. (I did not pay $200 for sneakers but my dh considered buying me shoes for $180...before I told him that was insane.)

Besides as it was stated the only ones suffering in this economy are the middle class. Soon there will be no middle class.

Not an Obama supporter in the least. In fact in polls, he ranks higher than his policies. lol. I just don't give a hoot what Michelle Obama or her children wear. Mostly because I know if I had her money I would be dressed awesome and so would my kids everyday of the week. LOL. I wouldn't go nuts but I would wear nice things. Who wouldn't?

Yes I think $500 is just a drop in the bucket for them. I wish I could spend that much on some shoes! I wouldn't buy sneakers though I'd buy a fierce pair of Prada boots - although they may end up more than $500. I have a slight addiction to shoes and handbags I just dont' have the income to support that addiction but oh if I did the retailers better look out!
