Went to Hellmart tonight, err, Walmart. I had a desk calendar on my list so, after weighing my options, I chose a 5x7 notepad with blank months printed on it. That's it. Pretty simple. When I went to check out, the cashier refused to sell it to me, stating that it had been coded as a "dangerous" product in the system. No recall, just Walmart decided it was dangerous.

After the cashier was EXTREMELY rude about it (A condescending, "I don't know why you can't seem to understand this...."), I finished my transaction, took my items to the car, and went back in. I got another calendar and took it to the service desk, hoping I'd speak with someone who was the proud owner of a fully functional brain. After quite a snotty response from the woman there, I was piping hot. At one point I asked, "What am I going to do? Papercut myself to death?" I mean, how in the name of all that's holy is a NOTEPAD DANGEROUS!?????

She made the mistake of mentioning that they product was coded that way LAST WEEK! And it was still on the shelf. When I questioned her about it, she said they were under NO obligation to remove the product. So I wasted my time deciding on a calendar only to be refused service.

When I said something to the effect of, "See, this is why people associate Walmart with poor customer service." She got really irate. And when I said, "This is why I dislike shopping here," I was informed that they didn't need customers like me. Yep. Those were her exact words. At which point she called security to see me out. DID YOU READ THAT? I WAS THROWN OUT OF WALMART TONIGHT!!!! Because I wanted to buy a calendar that might somehow kill me.

(for the record, I never cussed, never yelled, and never threatened. I did raise my voice a little, but I didn't get to "yelling volume.")

Oh, after I was "asked to leave" I did get a little mouthy. Still no cussing. But I turned to the other customers in line at the service desk and sarcastically said, "That's right ladies and gentlemen. I was just kicked out of the store because I wanted to buy a "dangerous" calendar." Ok, maybe I did yell at that point. lol.

ROTFL....Walmart's customer service really is bad. I prefer Target, even though their prices are a little higher. You've got to tell me what this calendar is. I believe I will try to buy one tomorrow. (Is that dangerous calendar local or nationwide?)

Oh my word!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Dh did a short stint as "Loss Prevention" at Wal-Mart. (that also is probably who they were referring to as "security") They are just as bad to work for, let me tell ya!

One time I was trying to buy some sort of solvent for my dad. He didn't know which would work better, some sort of alcohol or something else. Anyway, I found both and went to purchase them since he was going to try each one. The lady scanned them and told me that I couldn't buy them both because it came up on her screen that it was dangerous or some such nonesense. Evidentally they are both components for making meth??? I would have liked to have died right there in line! But a calendar? Well, that trumps my solvents by a mile!

    Ok, that was hilarious, SS!

When I was a freshman in college, our campus had strict curfew. If you returned to campus after midnight on a weeknight or 1 am on the weekend, you physically could not get into your dorm unless you called security. At which point, of course, you were in trouble. If you just stayed out all night, there was only about a 1 in 5 chance you'd get caught and it was the same punishment either way (9 pm curfew for a week). So if we missed curfew we usually just hung out all night off campus. But at that time, 1996, our choices for 24 hour entertainment were Shoney's or Walmart. We usually opted for Walmart.

Walmart hide and seek was our game of choice for hours of fan-flippin-tastic fun.

I'll never forget this one time that I hid in a large trash bin. It was for sale... not in use. I had the lid on and everything. Seeing as how it was 3am, I dozed off. Next thing I know, I'm rolling down the aisle. I hear a guy say, "geez this thing is heavy. I don't think it's empty." At which point, of course, he opened it. Bahahahahaha. Funniest. thing. ever. His face was totally expresionless, as if finding a teenage girl in a trash bin at Walmart at 3 am was a perfectly normal thing. He simply replaced the lid rolled the bin back to the shelf.

You will write the company, won't you? Better yet, you should get someone else to go in and attempt to buy the contraband calendar and secretly video tape the exchange. That would be a youtube hit!

OMG, I thought of doing just that! I was sitting here trying to figure out which of my friends might be free today to join me. lol.

And yes, I do plan on writing the company, however frivolous an exercise it might be.

OMG he trash can story was hilarious!! I remember playing a rendition of hide and seek/tag in Walmart w/ our cell phones and such. We would split into teams (usually 2 on 2) and hide in the store and sneak around and try to find the other team. If you were spotted then you had to run for your life and try to hide. The team who lost had to buy everyone food at the local "pub/eatery". I was a senior in high school and I remember hiding in the clothes racks and shaking them when people would walk by! lol. Good times it was.

LOL...what a story! That is hysterical. I'm sure not for you at the time...but really...that is quite a story. We can have Homeschool Spot ban on Wal-Mart! I have never had a problem at Wal-Mart but I never think of it as much of a place anyway...and never expect good service...but I've never had to deal with any of them. The cashiers were either indifferent or nice. maybe you should come all the way here to shop at Wal-Mart. yes, you can drive all the way her to get iffy service because it's the best they offer! LOL. I think I'll check my wal-mart for that calendar...I want to be kicked out too!

For those on the hunt for the calendar:

It was about 5x7. Blank month pages. The one I chose was a dark burgundy (almost brown), but I think they came in different colors. They were hanging on a peg with the office supplies, not the calendars. The brand was the same as the majority of the office supplies: @ the Office. It was $3 at the store here, but that may vary, of course. I wanna say there were 50 pages, but don't quote me on that.

Amie, if anyone gets kicked out of wal mart it would be you. My stars don't you know you can hurt someone with those calendars, why I knew that much. Where you been? I know studying and not checking out wal mart items. LOL any way girl I think you need to write a letter to editor to your local newspaper. That is just to funny.

It happen to me one time. I went to buy the girls a sim game. It was on the shelf. When I went to check out the lady said this don't work and then she said hold on the next thing I knew the check out counter I was at was surround with police officer, secuity guards and manger they ask me tons of question where did I get? How did it? I told them and they told me I was lie because the game was behind lock and key and didn't come out till the next day. By then I was piss, and embrassed I said ok lets walk our little ass back there and I will show you right where I got it and there was others there. We all march back and sure enough there was still some there. They looked at me and said how did they all get there, I said they must of walk them self there. (Smart Ass) by then I was piss everyone was treating me like I was a crimial then they took me to a back room and made me sit there while they check it out more then came back 20 minutes later and told me they were sorry one of there employees but it out early, and they couldn't sell me the game till tomorrow. I said good I wouldn't buy it from you if it was the last place on earth. By then they were kissing my feet, but it was a little to late. I now shop at Target have to go 35 minutes out of my way but a least I am treated better.

Now Amie if you fine one of calendars some place please be careful with them.

A similar thing happened to me at TRU with a game that was put out too early. Only thing was, it was put out over a week early. I mean, they didn't call the cops or anything. They were good about it, too. They were having a sale that was like buy two games and get a certain game free or something. The lady at the service desk told me to buy another game instead of the one that wasn't out yet, then wait till it was out and return the other game. That way I still got to take advantage of the sale.

(gee I hope that made sense. lol)

If you call corporate it will only be referred back to the local store's manager.

I would call the manager and speak with him or her. That is just ridiculous!

That's about 10 minutes of your life that you wont get back~ LOL
