Interesting, because that's what I was starting to think about you. You seem to be interested in disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing.
What I am interested in is the answer to this- Jackie and I have some of the same opinions on Miley Cyrus, but I'm the one getting told off. Why is that? I know why- because if you are not part of the 'in' crowd on this board, you are opinion is wrong no matter what. If you don't like my posts, put me on your 'ignore' list.
Well I think it is time to bow out of this conversation....and simply agree to disagree on several factors brought up. Although I do want to bring up that I sat on a jury for a rape trial. It involved an 18 yr. old girl and 3 boys all about the same age as the girl (the sexual acts against her were one on one and not three on one). The incident had taken place at a party were alcohol was involved and judgements were impaired so by this behaivor some here would say she was "asking for it". There were several men on the jury, myself and one other woman--All the older men said the same thing...."she was asking for it, just look at how she acted". To my surprise when I said, "what if your wife was out having drinks with her friends or your daughter, does that mean she was asking for it ? After all she is at a bar?" It was the YOUNG MEN who backed me and said that NO woman deserved to be assaulted no matter what the circumstances. They knew that women (or men) do not "ask for it" just because of how they act or dress. This happened almost 18 years ago and let me just add that I still think about the look in that girls eyes when she had to tell her story, the pain and humiliation that she was going through and would continue to go through. NOBODY and I do mean NOBODY should have to go through that. I do also think about those three boys who used extremely bad judgement that night and now have a record that includes sexual assualt. No that is not the same as the young boy and the teacher but that is still sexual abuse regardless if he thought it was a good idea or not. I just wanted to reiterate my position that sexual abuse of any sort is never asked for or deserved. Peace
Well I definetly am not part of the "in" crowd on this board........And I know that many of my views (especially political) don't jive with many others here....however, if I feel strongly about something I will defend my posistion.... just as you have. As for Miley, I didn't comment on her simply because I don't follow her. My dd is too young for her and I am too old! If you want my opinion though, I would have to say if she was my daughter she wouldn't be going out with a 21 year old. But she is not so I have no control over her actions. As far as the legalities of the issue I don't know how they work so I can't comment on that.......I think if the police could do something it would have to be after catching them in the "act".

I also didn't realize that by voicing my own opinion (which I thought we were all allowed to do) that I was "telling anyone off". I simply stated what I think and how I feel. Isn't that we are all doing here? So why am I not allowed to do so without pissing someone off? It isn't personal Becky it is just my opinion. You and I both know we don't see eye to eye most times. First of all what the heck is the quote button for? Oh yes to use it! How about you go count how many times you have quoted me. But see that doesn't bother me because that is what the darn button is for. Quote me all day for all I care! I promise I won't come back here and complain that you are targeting me. Secondly nobody is targeting you but I am getting pretty darn sick of this. I came here to give my opinion on the link the OP provided and that is all. Now because I dont agree with your opinion you get your panties in a bunch and it becomes a pissing match over who is in the "in crowd", quoting each other, targeting each other and freaking Miley Cyrus for crying out loud!! Wow! Your statement reminds me of the nasty things people say about rape victims. "She had on shorts so I don't feel sorry for her. She probably thought she was all that, because a grown man was attracted to her." Regardless of how mature the 13 year old boy may be, this is still statutory rape. Since we do not know the 13 year old personally, we can't judge his case against other children who may be mature for their age. He may not be considered a victim in the sense of the word, but he is a victim of a child predator. He was taken advantage of.
