Ladies, I hate to bring this up because it's two years away. But I received an e-mail from the King Tut people. The group tickets for Ft. Lauderdale and Chicago are ALREADY on sale, and they expect to have the ones for Philly fairly soon. It's frustrating, because I can't imagine making a commitment that's two years away! Anyway, I want all of you who have expressed an interest to really consider it. How many REALLY want to be in? I know that on reflection, some of us were just talking.

You can already print certificates for Philly; they expect the show to sell out, and these certificates are needed to get a ticket later. This does NOT apply to group tickets yet.

So consider what you want to do...of course, we don't have dates yet...and let me know. I'll try to keep everyone informed. If anyone wants the copy of the e-mail sent to me, send me a PM with your e-mail and I'll try to forward it to you.

I know I am serious about going with my family!

Boy, Jackie that is along ways away and alot can happen. But, like you said they are selling fast and we were watching a program the other night on tv and they said the tickets are going like hot cakes. YOU are right we all need to think and decide what we plan on doing. I am really thinking of going. I think it's would be so cool to see and neat for the kids to see.

OK, let me explain, especially for newbies. We have several families in the Pennsylvania area. A year ago, three of those families plus me and my girls met in Hershey,PA. There was talk several months back about maybe getting a group together to see King Tut in Philly. Others who don't live in the immediate area were thinking of timing visits to family on the East Coast to coincide with this. The group ticket price are about half-price of the general admission. So this is primarily what I'm talking about. Do we have a group that would be interested in meeting in Philly?

If you are interested in seeing King Tut at one of the other sites, or even in Philly but not with us, I will still send the info to you.

Or, Amanda are you out there? If you are, perhaps you could sign up to get the updates for King Tut and post them in the NEWS section or something?

Thanks! Tina, I'll get back with you!

OK, here is the web site:

    http://kingtut.org/home.htm

When you click on it, there will be a menu on the left; click on ticket information. That will take you to a page with the different locations. Click on Philadelphia. At the bottom, you will see something about subscribing to the newsletter. That is what you want to do.

What they are doing now is giving away free certificates. You request and print off a free certificate for however many tickets you want (up to eight; group tickets are done differently). YOU MUST HAVE A CERTIFICATE TO LATER BUY TICKETS!!!

If you want to go to one of the other locations, click on that city instead of Philly; the process I assume is the same! As of now, the newsletters haven't said anything other than GET YOUR CERTIFICATE NOW!!! But I would suggest anyone interested in going to sign up for it. I think each location has its own newsletter.

But if you want group ticket costs, how does that work? Don't you have to have a group sign up to get that?

Yes, you do. Which is why I want to know how many people are serious about being in. I think what we were talking was to set a date for us all to meet together in Philadelphia. Do we have enough to make a "group"? Iknow if Crystal's family comes, that's almost enough right there!

YOu know what's frustrating....I thought 2007 was when we were heading to Maryland. But it's NEXT summer, which is...ding, ding...2006! I'm not sure we can get out there in 2007 or not. Or maybe we would puxh our visit to Maryland to 2007, but I'm not sure if my in-laws would let us do that. HEY! I know! Maybe I could have THEM come out HERE next summer, then we'll go there in 2007, THEN it'd work! I soooo want to go in 2007 and meet you all!!!! :D I'll need to throw out that idea to my husband and in-laws, since they rarely come this direction, and there's lots we could do in the Seattle area! Okay, I'm getting excited now! I was bummed when I started this message!

My problem is that I won't know what we're doing for awhile. Are there any husbands going along also? Just wondering. It's possible that if this other idea doesn't work out, I could try to save up and go with my dd or something, cuz we wouldn't all be able to afford to go. The wheels are turning....

When do we need to let you know by, Jackie?

I'm planning on dragging DH along, and I know he'd appreciate having more guys there. We're planning on spending the week camping somewhere in the area. Does Philly have a subway system? When we went to Boston, we camped out near Lexington and brought the subway in. Phillip, especially, loved riding on an "underground train". And I'd rather not have to deal with driving/parking in a major city.....

As for when, the group tickets aren't on sale yet, so I don't know. I just want people to start thinking about it.

    We'd love to go!
We're about 3 hours from Philly.
It does seem like it's really early to start planning, but I think it would be an awesome field trip, as well as a great chance to meet everyone! Wow- what a reunion that will be.
You can count us in- there will be 4 (cause I'll definitely make Brian come along for that trip!)

Lorna, NO MONEY YET!!! So in a sense you don't have to "buy" them. With your five, my five, and Heidi's 4, that will give us enough for a group. Was Crystal thinking of coming, too? Her family is practically a "group" in and of itself :) ! As I said, they haven't started group tickets for Philly yet, you can print up the certificates for the individual sales. The difference in the prices was unbelievable! Someone had posted that they had group tickets for Los Angeles that were only I think $5, compared to over $20 for individuals.

Do we have to do anything yet, then, if we have enough for the group rate?
I don't remember if Crystal wanted to come along or not- I bet she will.

I would love to come too. That would be 4 but the only question I have before I say we would be there for sure is what happens if something comes up and we can't make it. It's along ways off and alot of things can come up, if you know what I mean.
We want to spend a week or so up there and camp out and see alot of other neat things there to if we do go up? So, we are still in question yet?

That's OK, Kris! OF course, no one can really make a commitment right now! From what I understand, group tickets for Philly ARE NOT AVAILABLE yet, but they expect them to be soon. Individual certificates ARE available now for Philly. I'm more interested in finding out if we have enough people to make it a group.

Heidi, I hesitate to say ANYTHING to Crystal about this right now. She's under so much stress with the court date for Jessie coming up. It's not something that has to be decided right away, so I figure there's no hurry to ask her about it.

Yes, Kris it is a long way for you and for me. You do have me beat! LOL I told DH that I wanted to go when we first talked about it. We do one big trip a year. This will be that trip. We just try to plan the best we can and hope that nothing happens. I think going with the group will be so much fun for the kids ( yes, us too. I probably want to meet you all worse than the kids do.) It just all sounds so cool.

Where is the liberty bell in comparsion to the place King Tut will be? What else is there to see besides Hershey park and the Amish people?

Lets all just pray hard that it works out for us all.

    Jackie~
I talk to Crystal on a daily basis. I will mention it to her and see what she says. I just think that she will want to come because her and Rod are great about doing things like that with the kids. But, like you said, it's not a big deal for us to know "for sure" right now.

    Lorna~
PA is actually ranked 6 out of the 50 states in tourist attractiveness. Right in Philadelphia, alone, there are many, many things to see and do- not just the King Tut thing and the Liberty Bell, but lots of other museums, and historical attractions.
Not too far from Phila., in Easton, PA, is the Crayola Factory.
You mentioned Hershey- the amusement park is there, as well as the Chocolate Factory, Hershey Gardens, etc.
Lancaster County is home of the Amish- there are many, many tourist attactions there dealing with the Amish, as well as several places that do dinner theaters, Sight & Sound that does Christian productions (we're seeing "Ruth" in August), American Music Theater always has something going on, several museums.
Gettysburg wouldn't be too far away and has all the Civil War things.
And, a few hours away, in good old Harrisburg, there's even things to see and do- including the capital, state museum, and Civil War Museum.
There are outlet malls in Lancaster, Hershey, and Gettysburg.
And all of that is just in the southeastern part of the state!

Heidi forgot Valley Forge!!! Kris, if you're camping, maybe we could camp at the same place. And no, I've no idea WHERE yet!

I've been to Philly just once, and that was many years ago. I was single, and with my best friend. I remember that the town hall has a statue of William Penn, and nothing could be built taller than that statue. I also remember that it has lots of outdoor sculptures, and was designed after Paris, France. The art museum (made famous by Sylvester Stallone running up the steps in the movie Rocky) is kind of at the end of a street that is like the Champs Elysee (or however it's spelled!). I don't thnk it's too far from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

Actually, my DH is leaving tomorrow at 4:00 AM for Philly. He's taking a week-long workshop at La Salle University. Sigh.......
