There is another thread somewhere, Deena. Basically, we are using this thread to encourage each other to lose weight- accountability of sorts. At the end of September, the person who has lost the highest percentage of weight (based on starting weight) will recieve a gift from the rest of us. Did I get that right, everyone?

    Almost. There's two catagories...Under 200 and Over 200. So there's two winners.

But we only send a prize to the winner in OUR catagory, right? We don't send TWO prizes?

I didn't read the whole thread, so I don't know if someone already posted this, but I joined a site called SparkPeople.com that is for those thousands of us losing weight. They have journal tools, recommendations for food, recipe swaps, work out videos and forums to share on. They even have a homeschoolers forum. It's all free!!! It's like having your own personal trainer right in your home. I love it. I've only been following it for 4 weeks and I've lost 9lbs. and 2 inches off my hips and waist. I've got another 50 to go, but slow and steady wins the race!! :D

You are correct. Everyone will send the winner for THEIR category a prize. We aren't sending two prizes.

Welcome, Deena... and Wolverine as well! Gotcha both! It's never too late to join. :)

I did Sparkpeople for a while, but had a hard time staying motivated. The homeschool group was friendly, but not very active.

Went to Curves yesterday!!! When I first joined, I was going a lot. But now, the only regular time I have to go is during the kids' piano lesson on Wednesdays. I've got to get into the ROUTINE of going three times a week.

YAY, Jackie!! My sister lost 80 lbs by getting using the Curves plan. I can't justify the $35 a month to go when things are so tight financailly. Yesterday at the pool, I tried to get more actual swimming in vs. just playing around with my kids. I really should take advantage of the water aerobics offered at our pool. My neighbor and I have been walking some, too. She also wants to lose weight, so we've been encouraging each other some.

Walking is SO much better when you have someone to walk with!!! I have this great Richard Simmons walking tape that was given to me back when a bunch of us teachers walked the halls after school. It is SO fun!!!

My college roomies and I were faithful Sweatin' to the Oldies users. We had so much fun! Maybe I need to find it on DVD.

It's a series of Richard Simmons exercise videos. It's aerobics created to be more like dancing, so it feels fun. I'm not the most coordinated girl, so I spent a lot of time laughing at myself!

Maybe we could all find the same tape of some sort and agree on a day and time to walk for a certain length of time. We can "meet" here either before or after, and maybe we'll feel like we're walking "with" one another?

LOL Or maybe that's too silly to work.

Best wishes to you all! :D

Accountability and discipline are great tools for reaching your goals.

I won't join you because I've already lost what I wanted to and more (from a size 14 to a 6!!!) It took 18 months, but no fancy diets, no gym memberships.

Slow and steady wins the race...you can do it!
