I am kind of not looking forward to starting school back tomorrow. We only took a week and ahalf off but that is not it. I feel like it is just going to be too much work.
So assuming I am not alone in that.. the too much work thought process thing, I was hoping to get inspired by looking in here at the Spot and getting something.... not sure what but something to push me into that "I love to homeschool" mode. I go through this occasionally each year and usually I can take a day off and get rejuvenated and then I am good, but today I just don't feel like it lol. Plus I Just took a week and a half off, even though it was a lot of work with Christmas stuff it was fun work!
So what do you do to inspire yourself or get over the slump feeling? I know there are tons of newbies out there who will probably feel overhwelmed wiht it all at some point and this thread will come in handy to them as well...

HE-HE!!! Well, we were suppose to start a scaled down schedule today. I told the kids we were getting up at 8.... Um, yes. It was 9:30 when I dragged myself out of bed!!! It is now 10:45, I'm right here, Rachael is on the other computer playing a game, Phillip just finished breakfast, Carl just started his, and I've yet to see Faythe at all!!! How's THAT for motivation, lol?

When I have that slumpish feeling, we usually do crafts or projects that go with what we had scheduled.
It makes it more interesting and takes the schoolish feeling out of it.

    PUUUUUSSSSSHHHHHH

I don't know about you all but...after all that fudge, cookies, egg nog, hot chocolate and all the other stuff I ate....I need a BIG ole push. lol

This year worked out real nice because we can slowly get back into the swing of school with a Wed -Fri schedule and then be back to normal speed on Monday. Grab some science experiments and have a science day, then have a game day (yes monopoly, Life, Sorry, apples to apples, maya madness, whatever your game is learning), then have a reading day with some PE thrown in there - ice skating is always our favorite. Yes we do have to pay to go to an ice rink here in SE TX lol

Then that gives you what I consider a "normal weekend" to get your lesson plans done/laid out for the full throttle back to school on Monday the 7th.

    PUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHH!

hmm.. thats a thought, and next week dh will be home in the mornings awake, so I have to be set by then..... but I need more motivation than that lol!

My head is doing an equalibrium thing this am for some reason, must be sinuses, but that may be part of my frumpy mood... the rest may be the pile of laundry I have to wash and FORCE my dk's to fold and put away thier own stuff lol...ya, its not just the schooling we do moms its the house and the school I am not looking forward to...
maybe I will have something good for breakfast and get a bit of energy too ?
What else is there to do? ARts, Sciences, ya fun but work to me today I would have to make sure it was cleaned up after hahah, ( OOO do you hear me I am lazy today! Lol!)
Game day sounds good.. we were thinking of going to movies but I am not looking forward to going to see either of the two we were thinking of seeing..
I am such a foggy mess that I forgot to go teach the kids last night at Get REal bible study!
No one called, so they must have had it covered but woops! Totally spaced out on that one!
Maybe I need more vegies after all the starch in the goodies we cooked, and I did eat a few of them... maybe I am just still tired from staying up late on new years eve? We had such a great time at our Home group though! We played catch phrase, and watched Chondra Peirce dvd! then we had someone share and talked about our favorite scriptures... etc. IT was so fun! We stayed there till near 130 am, and the kids didnt want to leave , my kids are usually asleep several hours before that so this was cool!
And I am sort of excited about setting up teh new schedule .... but not too much... I need to shake things up a bit.... for the next three weeks, then we go on to my NEW NEW schedule of Semester 2 Weeee!

We are taking on a regular day today. We have had the last two weeks off and this has been enough for us. Ems is actually ready to go back and I am too. Yesterday I wasn't so thrilled about it but once I started putting the volcano unit together, I was thrilled and couldn't wait.

I'm in need of a push too.

I'm right there with you! I need a push too. My kids have worked on an art and writing project today on their own. They have been outside for a short recess (10 minutes). Now, they are listening to some music. I'm thinking of having a game day today. We'll probably read some books as well. I better get going. It's already after 10:30 here. I hope we all get back on track soon!

We're also getting back on a light schedule. The kids have a geography fair in three weeks, so we already have their country books from the library. They'll be spending their "first day back" getting a start on their displays. They also have some PE by making forts and sledding in the snow we got yesterday and today. We also will probably do some games...Scrabble, By Jove (mythology), Life...

Please give me a shove, too!
My schedule is light today and a trip to the library.

Remember this next year and take a full two weeks off! I know I am going to be doing just that!

*shoving whom ever needs one* :)

Well...my oldest has had a full day today. She did it all! Well, we still have 3 chapters from "A Secret Garden" for book club, and a Chapters 1-9 quiz for it too...but ...

My friend just came to pick her up for a Circle Letter party....there are about 8 girls involved and they're all going to meet - some for the first time - play, craft, eat a snack.

My son won't start back till next week...he just needs more time for official school to start. he's also 6, so I don't feel guilty at all. :D

We started today, with a light schedule. We are all done and don't have to do any tonight. We will go back to regular day tomorrow. A little in the morning then more after 5pm.

When dh came home kids were playing a bible card game and I told dd that she could finish that and write up her paper for science lab report when she was done.
Hubby asked if we were back at school today, and I said no... not really , and told him how short our break was so he was like " oh! Okay no problem then" he is great at getting me moving to do something I dont want to do... so we are off to wally world to get the tag removed from the jeans I got for Christmas, I have the reciept proving I paid for them but did the self check otu and didnt notice it LOL! Silly me!
I so needed new blue jeans, and they seem to have the only ones that fit over my ambidextrious.. er, self.
Anyway, they are cheaper than most places even if it was more than I thought I would be spending.
So I decided we will do that and maybe play a game of scrabble or Boggle when we get back.. gonna look at the craft stuff for ideas for the volcano too , I usually print up a bunch of stuff to get back on teh ball but this time, I still have grading to do for dd, and really am not in the mood to do it, I hope Net Flix brings me a good movie! Then I can at least enjoy the last day off! hehe

    OOOOO- push me! Push me!

I wasn't going to take a Christmas break, but then decided that we all needed it- and we actually had snow, so the kids played for several days. I thought we would start back up yesterday, but watched the Rose parade and football, and did housework and laundry, and well, never really got to the schooling.

So, today would be it right? Well, the boys spent most of the morning making thank-you cards for their friends and family- so we've been working on art, right? Now it's time for lunch and maybe we'll get to something solid this afternoon.

My problem (I think)- is that DH is taking vacation time next week, and our schedule will be thrown off for that. So I am not being real motivated to jump in, only to tread water for some of next week anyway. Oldest two DS's are supposed to spend the night at the friend's house tonight- so tomorrow is shot. And then on Friday some friends are coming to town for a swim meet, and we'll spend most of the day with them.

Yup, I need to chill out, huh?

I hope you get back in to the swing of things soon. I like the idea of game day, and science day! Rent a movie, pop some popcorn and relax- they are only kids once!

I needed new jeans too, TMom! Before Christmas we went to Value Village to get some pants for my oldest ds. While there I looked at the jeans, and found a pair that fit me PERFECTLY! I was so happy, cuz they were only $6.99, not bad for a pair of jeans that fit so well and look like they've never been worn! Come to find out, they had a green tag on them, and that was the tag color for the day, which meant I got 50% off! So I got VERY nice jeans for $3.50!

Anyway, we are doing a little bit of work today. It's harder to get my younger two motivated with my older ds and our Russian Friend (RF), but we said no computer games today, and some schoolwork MUST be done.

We also need to go out and get some groceries and get all 3 of these teenage boys hair cut! We have not yet gotten all the ornaments or the tree taken down, so we may do that as well and get that overwith finally! Oh, and dd has her piano lesson this afternoon.

So we'll have a busy day AND get some school work done. TOMORROW will be a bigger schoolwork day.
