We are starting back on Mon. I won't say how long we've been off LOL. We've had a day here and there but it feels like it's been MONTHS since we've had our regular schedule. Actually looking forward to getting back into the swing of things now that I'm feeling better!

I like to do that too, I gave dd some things to do with clothing design and she is loved that and I told her we will put the map work I gave her to show me what areas of the world she has studied thus far up on the wall as well when she colors it in. She loved that she got to do coloring ( being in highschool doesn't mean you dont like to color pictures anymore)!

Ds did the bible packet and really enjoyed it, has one page left to do today in that with answers to questions on revelation22 ( new heaven and new earth topic) then he did Math with out much effort, one thing I was not sure what they were asking on at first, so I told him we would not work on it cause it was confusing both of us... we did not get the teacher book in math 5 because I have taught it so many times now but this one thing is unique so I am wishing I had hehe.
I figured it out after he finished the other work, explained it to him and said next time this is assigned he will know what they are asking... anyone else out there using Horizon math 5? I could ask you a few questions hehehe!

I love the bulletin board idea but I still have my glow in the dark States map on that. we are trying to find a way to put things up on the wall that dh will say is okay, we dont like tape it pulls off the paint, we dont like pins they mak eholes Lol, and we don't like the sticky puddy stuff so far cause it seems to leave an oil spot? Any suggestions there will be helpful too!
I also found a magazine that came has some stuff that should be inspiring me but I am at the point in the year I guess when I am having my own attitude of why not just send them out lol, I know all the good reasons to homeschool, I know the reasons we home teach our children specifically but I am just having that slump still.... pray for me those of you who are prayers! Thanks!

That's so true TMom! I think our society makes kids grow up too soon! I think we had a thread talking about that sometime ago. With homeschooling, you can allow them to be who they are, and do what they like to do! I LOVE that!

today we went through her history, she was studying stuff we had already covered a few times in bible, so we skimm read it and I advanced her to the next lesson set. She is almost in Middle Ages.. the study of the Bible in EWH is SOOO Intense but she has sat in on our ladies bible study class for Genesis to 2Samuel intense studies, PLUS the women of the Bible study series and more since she was like 3, just because I lead it and they do lessons while I study but I found out years back she sits there pretending to work and listens to us study... I invited her to join us but she was too shy for it.
So we ahve a couple weeks and she will be in Middle Ages which will be very creative stuff

oh, the Notgrass Exploring World History?

and the week I gave her permission to miss is concentrating totally on Luke the book of so she asked if she could read the book of luke the whole book and learn it that way, I said yes. I checked the lesson out and about 97 % of it was reading the book of Luke anyway, they had short summaries of it basically in the text part. So the life of Christ was the focus, and this is a girl who accepted the Lord already is reading through the bible for the third year, not including missed days, and reads a teen devotional on the side as well.

So you really like it? That was one of the ones I was considering for Rachael in two years. Next year, we'll be finishing up on American History.

we do, it is way indepth study of the world and the bible together... we got a little behind with the lessons , like a week or two with holidays but its TONS of reading daily most weeks, some weeks not as much .. it is set up each days work lined out clearly and Mimi is loving it! She even likes that literature book that comes with and is keepign up with the readings there.... we started out with Mere Christianity, read through it portions by portions in the first couple weeks.
She said portions are boring because she has already been imersed in bible study, and that is one reason we skimmread through the luke section... ten lessons and she will be at 66 which is where early middle starts..... wee! so ther are 65 lessons already at that point... they go through the history clearly through the Bible and lining up what was going on in the world during these times up to Christ's birth at this point.
then the Church Age of course when the church started.
is where she is now.. I told her if she comes across an era that is really interesting we will put down anchor and study more about that stage.
She is especially interested in clothes and house styles and such in design interests so looking forward to that more.
It has some pictures in it but they are not the best quality in all of them... so extra photo type pics, you knwo colorized or what not? would be helpful.

And we've been through Mystery of History. So this sounds as if it would really build on what she's already had. It counts as three credits, one each for Bible, History, and Literature, correct?

yes! and the Bible and LIt are really there too!
I am fighting her with the writing part though, but I am sure you wont have problems with that, dd is just lazy when it comes to paper writing... some stuff I let her do on the computer and print it off because fo that but I want her to write it out too.. rought draft! So I added Creative Writing to her list.

OK, I'm trying to get motivated myself. We start back Monday but then have the first day back to co-op on Tuesday (short 2 hr co-op at our church)....so I'm planning for Monday to be a review of what we did right before break (last day was Dec 19th-ish), co-op on Tues plus free reading & practice AWANA verses, and then hit the ground running on Wednesday AM.

I want to change how we've been doing some things for "school" but I haven't decided exactly how to do it yet....when I do, I'm sure I'll ask for everyone's 2 cents :). And of course, I'd like the house to be spotless before we start back....ha!ha! And my sinus congestion isn't going to let that happen...plus I'm still taking down Christmas decorations.
