Okay if you guys don't mind I'd like to join too. This sounds very cool. Of course it would mean yet another Texan. I do live close to the Birthplace of Texas and am actually going there for a field trip this month. I could grab some postcards while there. Pm me too if interested.
My ds (now 13, did this a couple of years ago. We all had a big postcard exchange going on here! He got most of the states and some foreign ones, and he LOVED it! We ARE studying US HISTORY this year, so this would be great for dd to do! Let me know if anyone wants Washington State, or our general area. The cards will vary (Olympia (capital), Seattle, the ferry system, our town---which is a Navy town and has huge aircraft carriers docked nearby, Mt. St. Helens, etc.) I can't promise which one we'll be able to send, it partially depends on what's available.
I can send one postmarked and from GA. I also have one that I can send from Myrtle Beach, but it'll be postmarked and I bet I can get my IL's to send one from TN. LMK.

When we did the Postcard Geography project I found a posterboard sized wipe off map of the US and we colored in each state as we got a postcard. Just a thought (that you probably already had, since I am not that creative!), but I thought I would share!
Jen, That's a GREAT idea. Do you remember where you got it from? I was thinking about the US maps that someone from here posted about. I believe they bought them from Oriental Trading company. I thought we might use one of those and put up a differant state as we recieved the postcards. But that wipe off thing sounds really neat. Thanks for sharing. Angie
Just for grins.... I know it is fun to trade among friends. I just thought I would share this extra outlet for trading postacards.... I belong to a Postcard sharing group on yahoo groups. It is free and you end up with TONS of postcards...from all over the planet.... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/postcardkids/ We have been members for months (Since before J's accident) and we have sent and received TONS! It is fun and has been a great experience. They also have, in their files section a set of beautiful certificates to print out for your kids when they have collected postcards from different countries, states, or regions. Very nice set up they have over there.... Of course, I would also LOOOOVE to trade with you guys too! We are also in Texas. Our cards are about NASA, and Cowboys..... PM me with address if you wanna trade. Also willing to trade more than one, if your individual children would like to have some addressed directly to them. (My kids squeal when thy get something addressed to them!)
I think I just got it at a local teaching store. I am pretty sure it was Trend brand or something like that. It should still be in my attic somewhere...
