Oh my gosh, I feel like a baby! I'm only 28...an 80's child! Does feeling like I'm 40 make a difference? I know Brooke is younger like me so that doesn't make me feel so bad.

I was so excited when my numbers finally got into the 30's....at least it was closer to how I felt! I have twin brothers your age, JenPooh.....and that was making me think....do you think our homeschooled kids will think of people's ages as much as we do? I think we were all brainwashed by public school (well, most of us) into thinking that numeric age means compatibility, like we should all be sorted in that way or something, kwim?

Well, I'm afraid I'm still the "Grandma" here, though Trish may have me beat. I don't think she mentioned her age.....

I remember dancing to the Monkeys records when I was in second grade. I had a record player, but my best friend across the street had all the albums. I remember "Joy To The World" (and I'm NOT talking Christmas song here!), and Simon and Garfunkel's "CECILIA!!! You're breaking my heart!!!" I remember Donny Osmond coming out with "Sweet and Innocent" and "Go Away Little Girl". And the Jackson Five singing "ABC! It's as easy as 1,2,3!!!" and "Rockin' Robin". Sonny and Cher's "I Got You, Babe!" and since everyone's a Pooh fan,

"I've got to get back to the house at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised there's so much to be done....
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky.....
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh......."

T.V. Well, how about "Lost in Space", "The Girl from Uncle" (and, of course, "The Man from Uncle"!), "Wild, Wild West", "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", and (drumroll, please!!!) PEYTON PLACE!!! The last one I hated, but when we'd go to Grandma's house, everyone it was all the adults talked about!

(Oh, for the record, I am closer to 50 than I am to 40!!!)

Jackie, you have got me beat. I am 40. I will be 41 on September 24. I do remember a lot of the things you mentioned.

Back then tv was clean. Life was more simplier.

But I have a 5YO who is keeping me young! Part of me would love to have another. I didn't marry until a few days before my 33rd birthday. If I had started younger, I'd be giving Crystal the run for her money in family size!!! But having a kids in your 40's is a whole lot different than when you're 30. Phillip took a LOT out of me!

I bet JenPooh will remember the Electric Company, Romper Room, and Captain Kangaroo....:D.....or what about Silver Spoons, Fresh Prince and Family Ties...of course, I suppose anyone older than we are would remember those as well...but probably not as clearly ;)

This is a neat thread. Let's see....I'm 39, will be 40 in a few weeks. I don't feel 40 in my head (more like 20), but am starting to feel it in my joints...

Dh and I have been married for 18 years, nearly half my life!

    Yikes, Brooke! Five days!

    Blessings,

Oh Jackie! You're not lying about how having a child when you're older takes a lot out of you.

Jackie, I can remember all the things you mentioned. It just seems like the things that jump out at me most are the things going on during my teen years. All the 70's stuff is what I remember vividly.

Remember wearing "elephant leg" pants and 2-inch wide belts? I recall that when I was learning to shave my legs (I was about 12 I think), I used to wear mini skirts and knee socks to school. So mom caught me only shaving the part of my leg that showed between the socks and skirt.

    Trish~
Delta Dawn, what's that flower you got on? Could it be a faded rose from days gone by? LOL I was pretty much raised on country music, though I did enjoy my own "pop" when I was a kid. I believe that was Tanya Tucker's first hit, right?!

This is a cool thread. I'm enjoying the memories.

Brenda~ I have back pains as well. And, now I have this hip that decides to give me pain every once in awhile. I told Brian pretty soon I'm gonna have to stop sleeping in the bed, because I'm always so much worse in the mornings, and we have a brand new mattress! LOL

Jackie~ I'd love another child. The more I'm around Crystal, the more I long for a big family like hers. Anyway, I'm 35 and feel old. Gracie was such an easy kid, I don't know if I could keep up with another little Ashley!

    Heidi,

    Do you know this one....

I'm gonna knock on your door,
    Ring on your bell,
    Tap on your window too-oo-oo!
If you don't come out tonight
    While the moon is bright
I'm gonna knock and ring and tap until you do!!!

    OR:

    Funny face, I love you!
    Funny face, I need you!
These are the sweetest words I every knew.....

My mom's best friend, who use to babysit my brother and me, was a Country Music fanatic. My brother and I spent all our time making fun of it!

When I was in 8th grade, a new roller rink opened. Admission was .50 on Wednesday afternoons with an "A" on your report card. Plus I'd go with my best friend most weekends. We'd wear bell bottoms, and skate to Elton John (Rocket Man and Crocodile Rock), or "You're So Vain" was big then. Or "Little Willie, Willie won't....GO HOME!!!" Sigh..... Those were the days!!!

Okay, so far, no one has mentioned the Brady Bunch, Family or 8 is Enough... lol!

*I had Poppet when I was 30. She was 13lbs. 3 oz and was 24" long. She wore size 18 month old clothes and a size 3 shoe. I was scared to have another one... everyone kept telling me that the next one is always bigger!*

    Jackie~ I remember funny face!

I love the Brady Bunch, but I was never really sure if I actually saw that show, or just the re-runs, as it seems to me that it was on every day!

I loved Eight is Enough- that was one of my favorite shows!

Oh my gosh, Rumpledoodles, I thought Ashley was big at 10 pounds! No wonder you stopped at one, you poor thing! Did you have her natural? I had Ashley natural, and when they said "10 pounds", I said "what?! could you repeat that, please?!" She tore me in layers, which took forever to stitch! But, enough graphic details! LOL Blessings to you- you're like Wonder Woman!

    Oh my

Rump, you would have died if you had one any bigger. My twins didn't weigh that much together!!!! LOL

I watched Captain Kangaroo and I loved it. I even bought some videos for my kids. I am 37. What is the name of the show that was a kid exercise program? Romper room I think. I watched that too. I always wanted some of those cup type things on rubber strings to wear on my feet when they wore them. Poor me didn't ever get any. Do you feel my pain?

My babies were all about 8 lbs. I was very thankful for that! Rachael and Phillip took their own sweet time. With Faythe, she arrived at the hospital within the hour. It was a race to see if the baby, my midwife, or the doctor would arrive first. The midwife had never missed a delivery, but was putting on scrubs as she ran up the stairs. I had had a nice discussion with the delivery nurse, she was all prepared to deliver if need be, and I was very comfortable with that. I think most delivery nurses know more than some of the doctors. And Faythe sure hasn't slowed down one bit since that day!!!

Yes, I watched Romper Room, but only because it was on in the morning after Mom had left for work, and I had nothing to do for that half-hour.

What about "Here Come the Brides" with Bobby Sherman?

Yup... show of hands... how many of us just knew that we'd have a baby boy some day and name him either Jeremy, Joshua or Jason... *giggle*?
