Okay, I just got here... I am 35. 4 kids - 12,10,7,5. All were birthed by a midwife - the last one WAS born in our van. We have been married for 14 1/2 years(yes, the 1/2 definitely counts!). What about That's Incredible with Fran Tarkington? I also had Donnie and Marie dolls and my OWN pair of purple socks! Also before school was Slam, Bang Theater with reruns of the three stooges. And I don't even know who the Bay City Rollers are. *sad face inserted*(where are our faces?) Sabrina
Ok, so I'm a bit late. I'm guessing I might be one of the youngest here, if not the youngest, at 22. My husband, Jakob, is 25. We have a 12 month old named Kaleb, and currently are caring for my husband's 14 year old brother (Josiah). We've been married for 2 years (today is our anniversary), but have been together for six years total. My son was born with a midwife at home, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. He was 7 lbs 12 oz, and wouldn't come for 26 hours after I went into active labor. We've decided that we want no less than 3 of our own.
Happy Anniversary, Amy Dawn! You are a young one! My husband and I have been married for 13 1/2 years. Sabrina~ I remember That's Incredible! Of course, you and I are the same age. When's your birthday? Mine is the first day of spring!
I'm all for a thread about how we met our spouses, but it might make for a lot of long reads! :O....You know getting married after knowing dh for 5 days has to have a story to it....
Heidi - my husband's birthday is also the first day of Spring, but mine is April 6, 1970. We met the one and only time I ever went to a pool hall! The girl I was with gave him her number and he called her for 6 months before I would let her give him my number. We finally got together - I think it was Providence. Sabrina
I'm 36 (but feel like 20). My husband is 37 (but looks like 20). Well, I guess I can't have both (the feeling and the look)! He still thinks I'm beautiful; that's all it matters, right?
Sorry to steal your thunder Miss amy_dawn but I check in at the childlike age of 21! Half of the rest of you are old enough to be my mother! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) Speaking of mothers, my mom and I will be 44 and 22 by the end of this year respectively. I told her I'd get her a special card. As far as memories go… I’m too young to have any.
and everyone else is too old ....incidentally, I've found there to be no middle ground...I went from no clue to no brain with the onset of marriage
This has been an interesting thread. I am 30 something. I keep forgetting. heee Our dd was born when I was 29 weeks along. She weighed 1 lbs and 14 oz. Our ds was on time and weighed 6 lbs and 13 oz.
I guess I'll tell my age too since we're all being so honest, lol! I'm 36! Not too old, huh? My dh is 38!
Hey Brooke, I actually never watched the Electric Company or Romper Room, but I did watch The Polka Dot Door and Captain Kangaroo...oh, and Silver Spoons...that cute Rocky Schroeder. I guess I don't feel so young up against the young 20's group. 28 is looking mighty grand.
"The Polka Dot Door, the polka dot door"....wow! I had forgotten that one! I was never so excited for a birthday as I was for 30...it just seems to say, "hey, youngin's, I know a thing or two you don't!"....not on this forum, as I still have not joined the ranks of the "older women" (and that's a Biblical compliment, ladies!), but it works for young punks I run into when I'm out and about. I broke up a fight amoungst a group of brothers at the county fair...I must have that "mom" look to me now
I am a true "Gen-Xer" I'm 32, dh is 33. The kidlets are 8,5,3. We did start a bit young, according to everyone we meet. But dh and I decided we would rather have kids while we were young enough to have the energy to chase them around, and broke when it didn't matter. I grew up on Romper room, Mr. Rogers, smurfs, fraggle rock. Loved Ricky Schroeder before he was rick schroeder, and I still listen to punk rock - yikes!
Hey, fellow GenXer! Welcome aboard! My kids are 9 and 6...I mentioned earlier on this thread that I never thought about being a "young mom" until I got on this thread and found out that we did start earlier than the recent trend. We figure we'll be able to enjoy some private time sooner than most .
Well, I am 30 but, I tell everyone I am 22 does that count? I have 4 kids 11, 9, 8 (just turned yesterday), and a 9 month old. All girls. I as totally in love with new kids on the block and I didn't see Menudo mentioned here. That was one of my favorite shows. I really like that. I also was in love with Bo duke. Dukes was one of my favorite shows than my grandma would make us watch Dallas. And OOh I forget the name of it. Oh yes Falcon Crest. We lived on a farm and I don't remember A lot of things around that time. Because we were always so busy. But, Madonna and Michael Jackson, (who my 9 yo is in love with) we also like the jackson 5. My favorite is Mama's Pearl and ABC. I also liked bobby brown.
....bpolin! Are you my long lost sister???!!! I, too, grew up on a farm but night time was spent watching the Dukes (I think the A Team was right before that, maybe?) then Dallas and Falcon Crest....dad worked 2nd shift or that wouldn't have made it on the screen....
Oh my, New Kids on the Block! I had such a crush on Donnie. I love bad boys, don't know why. Although, he really wasn't all that "bad" now that I look back. But to a 15 year old he sure looked rough around the edges.
I didn't watch much tv growing up. So I had to wait till I saw them on reruns. I did watch the Dukes of Hazzard (Luke Duke). My all time favorite show was The Waltons. Never cared much for sitcoms. I much rather watch drama's. Didn't listen to much music either, but have since my dh played me some of his. I really like the Eagles, 38 Special. We were only allowed to watch a few cartoons growing up my favorites were The Flintstons, The Smirfs, The Jetsons. But my all time favorite and still is today Winnie the Pooh. I just love the old ones. I was so sadden to hear of the passing of both men that did Tigger's, and Pigglet's voice.
