Have you heard of this family? They have had shows about them on TV. They are truly inspirational. I wanted to share this story. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070803/ap_on_fe_st/17_kids
YES I read about that today!! I never saw the show because we don't have cable but heard about them on the radio months ago. There are so many people out there that totally blast them and say horrible things about them. I think this family is amazing! I love reading their story. Thanks for posting this.
I came from a family 11 and didn't like it... I wish them all the luck in the world if they are happy and loving it then let them be,
Yeah. . .I'm sure my kids will all have things they didn't like about our home too. LOL And then they'll do it totally differently. And then their kids will talk about how they wish they had bigger families. . .LOL
It is funny how people have different perpectives depend on their family. I was adopted at 12 days old and have one brother, my parents natural child, that is 11 years older than me. I pretty much grew up as an only child and wished I had a ton of bros and sis!
I read in another thread about the birth of their newest family member. I enjoy watching shows about their family.
I think they are fabulously wonderful! Doing it THEIR way and I love their life, for them. I would love to have another, but it is not in the cards. My good friend, just had her 7th, this past couple of days. Another friend had her 5th a couple of weeks ago. As far as those unhappy with that many brothers and sisters or those unhappy being an only child... I think it all boils down to hair. Those with curly hair have flattening irons, whereas those with flat hair have curlers.... ie: The grass is always greener..... Thank God we live in a country where a man and woman can build such a beautiful family together through love and God! It's not for me, but I celebrate their freedom and specialness.

i just watched three shows on them recently (they were on one of our channels one right after the other) - i'd heard the name before but never saw them... they seem like a very sweet family... and i'd LOVE to have a bunch of kids like that! ---- mind you, i said that to DH as we were watching the first one and he said YEAH RIGHT. ....ah well, can't happen anyway, DH is fixed.
First off well said Jen and sooo true!! And thanks for the show times. I dont know that I've seen both of those and would like to.
I've watched their shows and I think they are an amazing family. They live simply and within their means. But really, I can't imagine lol.
wow! What else can you say?! I take my hat off to them....to birth 17 babies is one thing, but the real challenge is to raise them! Again, wow!
Wow! That is something. They even managed to use all J names. lol. I would love to have more.....somedays...sometimesl..no..lol.
I think they are an amazing family. I could never do that and keep my sanity but I think it is great that they can do it! I don't have cable. And I want to see the shows.
The Duggars are simply amazing. I am inspired by their faith, and motivated by their firm Godly example. My husband and I came to the same realization about birth control, and stopped immediately. We have 7 together -- 3 of his, 3 of mine, and one of ours. His 3 don't live with us. We do trust the Lord for our provision -- and since we had our last, who is 19 mos., He has provided for us in amazing ways. Our house is paid off, and we are debt free (except for some emergency dental work my hubby had). I sometimes wonder how it all works, but it really isn't up to me then, is it? The TV shows have been very positive. I thought at first it would not be, but their sweetness as a family and their love for the Lord absolutely shines through like a beacon. They have some organizational techniques that I have put to use in our house. It's worth watching just for that. OutSTANDING!
I LOVE to watch the Duggar specials on tv. I have printed out their "House Rules" in pretty font and color on my fridge. I wish wish wish that we could have more children, but my health/life prohibits it.
Great idea. Those are definitely good rules to live by. They are definitely an inspiration to us all.
