This article backs what Handsome's employee was telling him. At least I think so. LOL ;)
Yes people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s are dying, but how many people in Mexico actually have this flu? Many!
Again, we have lost thousands upon thousands every year to the flu and although the majority are babies, elderly, and those with low immune systems, some of them are people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s or people that we would consider normally healthy.

I could be wrong, but I am going to dare to say that America has lost more 20, 30, and 40 year olds to the flu than Mexico has lost to the Swine Flu. I could be WAY off on that one but that is just my guess.:)

I am not saying that it isn't reason for concern. After all, I wouldn't want to get sick or watch my child get sick but the bottom line is my life rests in the hands of my Father. I can't worry about this when I know there isn't anything happening that He doesn't have under control. I do believe we need to be cautious but I also think that the media is beyond out of control.

California has 16 confirmed cases of Swine Flu statewide, with a possible 23 cases still being investigated, some in my county. Yet all the cases appear to be mild compared to those in Mexico. I wonder why. I find this interesting. Is it simply that they have a much higher number of sick people, like Handsome's employee said, that it appears they have lost more lives or are they actually really getting sicker than we are? As more Americans develope Swine Flu, I hate to think it but we will probably have more deaths. God willing, this isn't the case.

hmmmmmmmmm, I am getting more confused and more confused everyday...
The only thing I am doing is taking care of my family and going from there. We are trying to stay away from big crowd places for awhile till this is done.

I think that is wise. I keep checking but it seems there is only one case in Ohio. That doesn't seem right...only 1...I would think where there is 1 there would be more. Of course as soon as they found it the school was shut down for a week. The kid was in Mexico so he didn't catch it in the US...so who knows maybe one will be it. Now for my aunt's funeral, I will be right where this kids is! So, we will do our best to be safe.

OK, I received an e-mail today from a friend, with a tip. I wanted to send it on to y'all....

In consideration of all the Swine Flu information being disseminated, I felt a need to pass on the one tip that really should help.

    Don’t Do This!

Hi Everyone! I heard this moring that today's eposoide of The Doctors will have some information about the Swine Flu. It's on NBC at 2pm EST. You can also check out the CDC's website for what will probably be the most reliable info.

Ava - I heard last night on our local news that there is 1 confirmed case and 2 suspected cases in Franklin County.

Wow...this is really spreading. Thankfully, it doesn't yet seem to be worse than the regular flu. I also heard on the news that it doesn't seem like this will be anything to really worry about...but to keep a close eye on it.

Keep in mind that the cases reported are only those that sought medical care and tested. There are many unreported cases. Don't feel if there are only 13 cases in your state that it means they are the only 13 who have the flu. They are the only ones who sought medical care and were tested.

The news is saying, do not see your dr unless you have difficulty breathing or the health care system will be overwhelmed.

Good point, Katie! There could be many more who have it but since it was so mild they were never tested. That makes sense. In some ways that's also a good thing, ah? It means it is still acting like a normal flu so nothing to be freaked about. Hopefully, it won't mutate into something we can't fend off as well.

Just an update for my area..........................

Several schools have been cloesed in Houston ISD as well as a few Christian schools. All of Navasota ISD and several area "small country" school districts nearby have closed their doors as well. Galveston State Park and a recreation center is closed too.

I also read today that a huge event/party scheduled at Big Bend SP has been cancelled.

So far nobody in our school district (CISD) has been affected but letters have been sent to parents and they are closely monitoring all absences.

I do not know if this information is accurate or not but supposedly it appears that the spreading of the flu is starting to slow down in Mexico. From my understanding, less people are getting sick and doctors in Mexico are diagnosing less patients with Swine Flu.
Granted, I read this in an article so who knows how true it is. LOL
Perhaps we just need to run the course as well.
(EDITED: I didn't read this in an article, I actually heard it on the news)

I read an interesting article last night and the Dr. who wrote it said that people are in a panic because of a few uninformed groups who are making this bigger than it is. Also, he said that while a vaccine is being made for this type of flu, it really isn't being made to inoculate Swine Flu as much as to inoculate the panic. I thought it was interesting.

well they close several school here in our area, they are having a big parade and aren't letting any of the marching bands from school march.
Well if it's not as bad as they think it is, maybe it's because everyone is finally listening and being careful. Lets hope thats the reason it's not getting to back in USA. Wishful thinking maybe, I dunno

I'm happy the precautions are being taken. Even if this is just another flu we certainly don't need another one going around.

I wonder if part of it isn't people hearing about the pandemic alerts and states of emergency different gov'ts and agencies are declaring. But those measure are usually more about freeing funding and resources then any real measure of how deadly a virus is.

More schools here have closed in just the last day. There have also been two confirmed cases in our county - the next school district over.
