I do hope this is the mild case. We did go today to a few stores but we washed our hands good, and didn't stay long in none of them, and they weren't very crowd.

I am off in my own little world up here in the northeast. I don't watch T.V. We have a radio and internet for news though. I just listen or click to what seems interesting. I did get like 10 emails about this swine flu from famliy fleet and services. I feel that everyone is going overboard with this. I still continue to clean with my homemade cleaners. Store bought ones bother me very much. I do use bleach now and then but it really bothers me.
My kids wash their hands with regular soap from home and what ever the stores have in their restrooms. I have cancelled our daytime activities but that is because of having gas in the van issues. I cannot take 3 trips that are 30 miles round trip in one week. I am still keeping my nighttime activies because they are down the street. I didn't see any extra procedures last week and I am sure not to see anything extra this week about this. I also attend a church with a shared Communion cup and DH and I are still healthy. I have been going to church(es) for the past 4 years with shared Communion cups and been fine so no worries there. Hubby says God is looking over us.
So no extra precausions here. I have friend that will be taking a trip soon do to a move and I am leaving for vacation soon we will be in hotels. Personally I don't like them but I no other choice. I am actually going to bring back camper so we don't have to use hotels during the camping season.

THANK YOU!!! That pretty much sums us up, too!!! I simply don't see what all the noise is about; I believe everything has been WAY blown out of proportion! Last night at church, the pastor said that yes, we WOULD talk to one another, and greet each other by TOUCHING, just like we always do!

It's interesting to see how different churches are handling this. This morning at our church there were signs posted on the door saying that we shouldn't shake hands due to the recent outbreak (there have been confirmed cases in our state now). The sign also reminded people to wash their hands and cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing.
    ....interesting....

I think we all have to do what we feel is best for our families... Yes, everyone will do it differently. But, I feel the main reason it's not spreading so bad is because alot of people are doing things so it wouldn't. I think alot of people are trying not to spread it. who wants any kind of flu anyway? Not me.

I don't know how all religions do it, but with regard to communion, some have everyone sip off the same glass. I think that is a good way to spread germs unfortunately.

Everything was the same at our church. There was no mention of the flu and we have continued meeting as usual.

I don't think I'd feel comfortable with a shared communion cup, swine flu or not. That's just me.

We have those small little plastic cups filled with grape juice. :) I prefer it that way.

Yes, me too. I wouldn't be comfortable sharing a cup with so many others.
At my parents church this morning the pastor asked people not to greet one another with hugs or handshakes.

I'm not comfortable with it, but I have been raised in a Baptist church, where that was never really a part of how we took communion. I'm sure that if I were raised in a Catholic church or another denomination, I would think nothing of it.

My dh never thought about it until I brought it up. He said, "They wipe the side of the glass"! He thought about it and doesn't do it now. Let me be the first to drink out of it after it was washed in a dishwasher and I would be good with that, not possible though. I am not comfortable with drinking after 100 people. LOL

Brainpop has a really good video on it and explain alot for the children to understand. They do give free trials too, so go get the free trail and let the kids watch it about swine flu...

We haven't even discussed it. Just a bit how there is another virus going around and doing a bit of stressing of washing the hands and general stuff when out and about.

I'm going to throw my hat in there. We always keep hand sanitizer in the car, so we use that after being out. Reminding kiddos to keep hands away from faces or each others face (when out at stores). Using the cart cleaners at the stores more.

We are doing everything we normally do. I think because you hear swine flu people panic. The funny thing was a school around us closed on Friday because they thought swine flu, nope just regular flu, so they're opened again. I had to laugh. Reg flu is just as contagious as swine & kills people too. I would be ticked if I was in that district!!!

I'm with Kris (I think) who wants any type of flu!!! Not me had reg & stomach in the same year a couple months apart... AWFUL!!!

Ditto! No matter what time of year it is we always are diligent about hand washing and germs. If people would be thoughtful and diligent with their germs whether they are feeling well or not, things would not spread around like they do. You can have the virus and not be showing any symptoms and still be passing it around. When I sneeze or cough, I do it inside my shirt.

I remember when I was confirmed. I thought it was odd that we were drinking out of the same glass, even if it was wipped down.

The church I attend now uses little, clear, individual cups for communion.
