I called the district office after flying through hoops just to get the number but that is another story .

I was told that the district would NEVER do this. I called the police and they took down the information I had and will keep it on file in case this happens again to me or if they receive another call about it. Basically I just informed them. Since a crime wasn't committed, this just helps get the ball rolling in case something does happen down the line.

You have to be so careful these day, you just never know. My kids were just a block away from our house when a creepy guy tried to drag then into his vehicle. The sheriff's office said there is nothing they can do. Seems they say that a lot to the citizens around here.

In this case, nothing could be done. A crime wasn't committed. It is somewhat the same as when my mailbox was hit. Although it IS a crime. There was no witnesses. When my house was paint balled. It was the same thing. The officer was kind and let me know that he will take a report but unless we know who did it, this was as much as he could do for now.

Patty, I am so glad you did it. Now you will have peace of mind knowing you help out.
I figured the school wouldn't do something like that, that is why I said to call in the beginning.
    Stay safe girl.

Oh wow Patty! How scary to know some freak is going knocking on doors like that asking questions about children! I am so glad you found out and called the cops.

Do you have a big dog??? I NEVER answer the door to someone I don't know and my dog is big and barks on command.

We have Rodrigo who is huge but represents the Welcome Wagon Society. Handsome was a great watch and guard dog; once upon a time. Now that he is so old, he has lost his touch. But our two little ones are incredible watch dogs!:D

Or German Shepherd was as gentle as they come, but SOUNDED ferocious. Both my dad and my fil has entered the house without knocking; just walked in, yelling "HELLO!!!" Both have done this just ONCE, because the dog didn't appreciate it; each VERY QUICKLY backed out of the door, closing it behind them! As soon as they were allowed in by one of us, the dog was fine.

The two we have now aren't as big, nor near as imposing. The little girl, however, is the more agressive of the two and I think will be a good watchdog someday. She's about a year old.

I am surprised to hear the there is so many "nothing we can do" from police stations. We told our police station that we were having an issue with someone harassing us on the phone and that they may try to come to the house. The police have now do regular drive-ins (you can't see our house from the street) to make sure we are safe. At least three times a day. Fortunately we haven't had a problem.

We were really blessed when somebody tried to break into our house. Actually I lived with my roommate at the time. The officer drove up and down the street a couple times a night for a few weeks. That is unless he had an assignment elsewhere.

Depends on where you live. Where I am now, there are two patrol cars on duty for a really large area. Not near enough. I was talking to an officer one evening who worked as an off-duty security officer for a restaurant. He says there's very little they can do, because lack of man-power. Where we lived before was a small township. We would get an officer drive down our street several times a day as a matter of routine.

My sil house sat for us when we lived in the township. She was a young, 20-something at the time, working at a resturant. One Friday night, she invited ONE friend from work to join her for a late-night movie. Some guys overheard her, and decided to crash the "party". They showed up at 1 AM drunk, banging on the door and wanting to come in. The neighbor, knowing my sil was alone, called the police. By the time they got there, the guys were gone. So the NEXT time she sat for us, again she had a friend over and the dog got out. This dog would RUN! So at 1 AM, these two girls are running up and down the streets, waving a piece of bologna, trying to catch my dog. And the police just happened to drive by. So from then on, we teased her about warning the cute young police officer whenever she was staying at our place.

I had an insurance man call me wanting directions to my father in laws house (which is on the same property as ours) and I refused to give them. My FIL hadn't mentioned to me about them coming by but I wasn't about to give directions to a stranger calling me up, regardless of if it was legit or not. They did find their way to the house and I called my FIL to confirm it but it freaked me out anyway. You never know.
But in your situation I would call the school board. If it wasn't their doing, then call the cops. If it was their doing, tell them you prefer not to receive communication in this way. You prefer it via snail mail or telephone.

That is so true! We are so far in the country that it takes around a half an hour. I say well by the time they showed up it would be too late. It has always worried me, but you learn not to rely on them for immediate security. :(

Thats really creepy! I wonder what that guy was up to? Its too bad you dont live close to me, I would let you borrow one of my dogs, Dolly. She may be small but she is mighty! Dolly is a pekingese that will bite a stranger in a heart beat! I have to lock her in my room when any one outside the family comes in the house. If anyone freaky comes around here I can just let her out the door LOL.

I used to have a Dobermin when I was single. He was a little love bug but quite intimidating to others. I felt really safe in the city with him around.

I think it is appropriate for the police to ask these creepy people what they are doing. Perhaps if the cops make some contact with them it might make them just move on!

A very strange guy showed up at our house looking for a lady that I knew of. Even though I knew where she was at I played dumb. I was floored because the guy came to MY house, I didn't even know him and only knew of her. Anyway, he ended up finding out where she worked and she showed up to her work with a gun! She works at a pre-school!

My old dog ran off an intruder once. The guy was literally breaking into my patio door while I was home. I called the cops, but my Millie went totally nuts, slamming herself into the door he was trying to break into. I fully believe she saved my life.

Then she was stolen, and despite the fact that I knew exactly who had stolen her (and the dumb woman even admitted it), I was told "there's nothing we can do"! So I never got my dog back. I contemplated "stealing" her back under the cover of night, but never got the courage.

I also agree with this. We are finally getting a new police department on this side of the city. Our officers are spread thin when they have to drive over the tracks to get to this side. This should make the response time faster too.

I totally agree. The only problem is the officers have to find them first. But if I see that guy again, I am calling the police right away.
