    hahahaha! This is totally me!

I got the ebook a couple days ago and read it. I even signed up for the teacherfilebox subscription. If you do it month to month, the 1st month is 99 cents. If I love it, I will convert to the yearlong because it is much cheaper.

I think I need to check out some of those other links to see how others are using the idea. I am actually excited about possibly becoming better organized. That has been my biggest downfall our 1st year of hs.

Heck it's our 3rd year and I still feel disorganized :) I love this idea though.... not sure if I would do the boxes or the drawers. I like the drawers - I have good space for that... but I need to check the price out. Honestly I think I can get the bins/shoe boxes over at the $1 store.....

I'm just not sure year what will work and I need time to sit down and plan it out.....

yes, you could dollar stores always have the boxes, we actually have tons of them, I use them for toys , books cards etc for the kids, but I just got a new thing!
Well its been here but we have a cart type file cabinet dh is cleaning out and asked me if I want to use it for all my home school stuff... I said Great idea!
HA HA, well at least some of it will fit!
But it was so sweet of him to clean it out for me!
I thought he was cleaning it out to move it out of the house and was planning for my little drawers to fit there... oh well, I will see what I can down size even more, since I only have the one child now and all who will be home!
    Pretty cool!

I like the idea of using drawers. I bought four three drawer units today at WalMart so the girls will have 6 drawers each. If I need more I can add on since they are stackable. I think this idea, or a version of it, will really help keep us on track. I can't wait to try it out. I am wanting to get started back to school now, but the girls say no way.

How much were the carts at Walmart? I'm thinking of heading out that way today (ugh) or maybe while Jacob is volunteering at the library tomorrow ;)

This isn't the cheapest way to go, but I liked the idea of magazine holders because workbooks will fit, they take up less horizontal space, and the author of the book claims the items inside the boxes must be easily visualized. I have some clear magazine holders, but not 24. So I found what I think is the cheapest place for them here: magazine holders

The company has gotten excellent customer reviews AND they take Paypal. If you spend over $75, it's free shipping. So I went ahead and got 24 (because I use the ones I already have ;o) ) I am excited to get them and get set up because I want to start back to school in July.

Mine were $9.00 each. They may have been marked down. I am not sure. The drawers are 13 x 13 inches and about 2 1/2 inches deep. There are three drawers in each set. I like them so far.

I read about these a few weeks ago and am facinated by the idea, but afraid it would turn out like many things I start and end up letting fall aside. I like the idea of making sure to include fun, but educational stuff that I always want to buy, but don't use as often as I would like. I worry that I wouldn't be good at having the boxes filled each day. I am not very good at organizational stuff like that.

I do like seeing how different people took the idea and made it their own. If I do it I want to use drawers instead of shoe boxes.

This is REALLY supposed to help with the text books NOT getting lost :) One of the organizational "things" that goes with this system is a week long plan list of what subject goes in each drawer or box. When the child is done it goes into a bin of some sort before they get whatever is in the next box.

I might head over to walmart today and see what they have. I found an Iris 5 drawer unit I have - but the additional ones are $30 each for a 6 drawer unit.

Ok.. so I keep seeing "workbox" all over and have now figured it out.. and LOVE the idea... but I'm not a good planner, and I don't always find time in the evenings to devote to school.... we also don't usually stick with something very long  Would this really work for me???? When we first started homeschooling, I had a folder for every subject for each day of the week and would put his worksheets in it or if it was more than a worksheet I used little pieces of paper to write what we needed to do on it and papercliped it to the pocket front... almost the same concept. I liked it, but just didn't stick with it.

I love one idea I saw on someones blog about using the sterilite drawers, and think I could make that work for us. I don't want to go buy a bunch more of these drawer things if we aren't going to stick with this.. but then again I could use the drawers for a million other things if we "drop out" of the workbox system.

Sommer, I am thinking they would be good to just do a subject a drawer each week check it on friday and see what still needs to be done and take out what has been done. They can do self pace that way for our middle schoolers or have us do the teaching as well. But at any rate they can go through thier drawers and "see whats in the history drawer for this week"?
In my caseit will be a file cause of the thing hubby gave me, but I will make do, and may send him to the pencil drawer or the paint drawer etc, as mine will be used for supplies this year if I get the ones I am loking for at the right price!
IT will be cool to give him treasure hunt style directions! He loves stuff like that!
I am getting psyced up for school set up ! OH PLEEZE somebody keep this thread going!

Ok - I bought shoe boxes today at Walmart.... 20 of them... 10 for each kid. It was cheaper than the drawer units and I have the shelves in the basement to set it up. Right now I have each kid on a seperate shelving unit (these are built in to the basement and where here when we got here).

I'll be honest - if I had (when I have) more than 2 kids..... I would splurge and get the drawer units - these do take up a bunch of room.

okay, how much do the shoe boxes hold is my question? thats why I am using file and drawers... cause ds has a big book for History and it wont fit in much else but th file cabenit.
And ds said he wants to work from the book not take them out and binder them, so I stil have a pile of binders, sigh.
I have to get dds transscript sent out so I can know what she needs for classes too I guess eh?
Maybe she can use our umpteen binders?
people keep giving them to my dh saying "here your wife homeschools she can use these!" lol so nice!
but even when I gave dd them in years past, they are still as I handed to her,e perfect!
filler paper and dividers still there.... you wuold thinkI could use them somehow?

I think the best thing about this system is that everyone can tailor it to fit their lifestyle. The bins hold a good bid. I just got DS a big huge children's dictionary, and it fits on a diagonal, and I have room under it to put papers and stuff.
