So I only have one child who is 3, therefore i have some time to perfect a skill and be a work/stay from/at home mom. The problem is, i dont really have any skills. I want to be a WAHM desperately but I just dont know what i could do! I live in an apartment so i couldnt exactly run a daycare. I just dont know and no matter how much i look online at the lists and lists(not to mention all the scams!) I just can't seem so find what im looking for.

    Please PLEASE help me! :(

I am glad you asked this because I need to be a WAHM, too and don't have a clue what to do. I hope you get a lot of responses.

You can sell Mary Kay, Scentsy, Barefoot Books,Tupperware, etc. If you are into it you can make a decent amount of money. I have a facebook friend (old high school friend) that makes a decent living selling Tastefully Simple.

I am not good with outside sales...but I know a Mary Kay lady who makes decent also. I have a failed Mary Kay and Barefoot Books business...LOL. I never put an ounce of work into it...so you have to be ready to work and build a client base.

I currently make a little money writing online. I also just started my own business but that is not profiting as it just launched.

You can do daycare....I did that and made decent money. That would require you to be at home but there are benefits. I have a little e-book, I wrote on that business. It's simple but if you want it...I'll email it to you..just PM your email address.

You can clean houses...little start up..no kids...keeps you in shape. I know a few who do it and love it. In fact, one lady keeps telling me that I should do it for extra money. They get paid $25 an hour working on their own.

If you have computer skills there are plenty of scams to wade through...but there are some good resources also. http://occupationalhwy.com/ That site has some leads also.

You may also want to check out the Home Business section on Families.com (where I write!) for more leads....http://home-business.families.com/blog/

Not sure if any of that helped. I look forward to learning what others have to say.

Look at the Rat Race Rebellion website. No scams.

Thanks for the responses ladies! I appreciate your time.

Ava, thanks for all the suggestions! I've sold avon and did passion parties and discovered that i'm HORRIBLE at sales like that. H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E! lol

I love writing, but theres SO much competition out there and you have to like bid on jobs which is crazy. I'm not going to win out on a bid against someone who has a masters degree and runs a writing company.

As for daycare, we live in a small apartment so it would be difficult, if not impossible to run a daycare. If we lived in a house, I'd probably consider it.

I could clean houses but you mentioned about the kids and my son would have to be with me :\

I'll definately check out the sites you put up though

Here's what I discovered. I worked at McDonald's for 6 years (high school & college). I loved it. I started my own business as a financial planner. Hated it. Lost $10k in one year. I'm NOT a salesman!! Now I'm selling Barefoot Books. The difference is that I'm not doing home parties and getting people on my team and stuff like that. I'm doing most of my work via email, looking for public events, paying a minimal booth fee, and setting up shop in a public place. The books sell themselves! People at events give me leads, too. I do book fairs for preschools and things like that. (I used to be a teacher, so schools aren't scary to me.) I rarely have to "sell" anything, and when I do, it's in a form introductory letter to a school administrator or something like that. It's worth looking into. Find something you love, and market it that way.

I know some who have cleaned houses and brought their kids. so maybe?

You can do daycare in an apartment...I did. lol. I made about $250 or more a week. I only took on a few kids due to the size of my apartment.

Writing is a hard field....I have been trying to do more but it is hard. You can always apply where I write...Families.com but I don't think they are looking. They are desperate for someone to write the Single Mom section and a woman currently pregnant to chronicle her pregnancy.

That is a great! I am still a seller for Barefoot Books...I should take that approach. I am not into the home party thing.

My son is 3 years old, lol. I dont think he'd be the best helper in CLEANING a house, HAHA!

I might look into daycare but then id be stuck home all the time, also, dont you have to get permission from the apartment to do that?

I really want to get into writing or something like that. Something that idont have to spend money on to get into. But i'm not pregnant and I'm not single

I did actually look into barefoot books and if i ever get any money, i'll probably check it out. The issue was no start up. I got a website but thats not going to do me much good.

You will have to ask your apartment manager. I had no problems with it. Unless, you babysit for a small group you would be home all day. I used to take the kids out from time to time. However, even when I was home all day I figured I'd rather be home than stuck in an office all day. Either way I would be all day somewhere. lol. But...that is a HUGE downer for being a daycare provider.

Do you have a team leader? Your team leader should be willing to work with you if you don't have stock. You can schedule events together using her stock and get 50% of the profits (which is 25% of the sales, because she has to replace her sold books). You can also borrow someone's stock for community events, and then use your sales to replace their stock. If you sell $250, you can make a $500 stock order, give $250 back to the one you borrowed from and then have $250 of your own stock to build with. :D Where are you located? There are a lot of great events out there with $200-$5000 table fees. Um... NO! Not my cup of tea, thank you. I usually spend $25-50 on a table fee, and if I know it's a guaranteed big seller, I'll spend $100 on a table fee. Never more than that unless I'm going in together with someone. You can get book fair flyers for $6 per bundle (plus shipping) or you can make your own and get them printed at office max or something. Doing school book fairs with a take home flyer will cost you next to nothing, and you'll spend very little time working on it compared to a "real job".

My dd and a friend are looking at having a booth at a very large flea market. They're looking at selling baby clothes, which the friend makes, jams and jellies they make themselves, home grown produce and maybe plants too, some dried herbs they grow and dry themselves... Not a mishmosh, but focus on one or two things at a time, like just new and gently used infant/toddler clothes, or just the jams and produce, etc. so they might be changing from week to week. It would involve working only on Saturdays as that's the only day the fleamarket is open. Maybe not every Saturday, but just every other, or once a month - I don't know their whole plan.

Don't know if any of you are interested in this, but my husband is a web designer and he gives 10% referral commissions. A typical website is aroung $2,000...but smaller projects can be as little as $200-$500 and larger projects up to $10,000.

I used to do cold calling for him and landed a few jobs like that. Email works too. I used to go through local magazine ads and contact people who didn't have a website listed in their ad. I am just too busy for that now! :(

I know it is not very exciting, but just thought I'd throw it out there. You don't have to officially "work" for him, if you know someone who needs a website you can refer them and get 10%. His site is www.iewebsitedesign.com

My business partner and I used to do some homeschooling co-op things. So, we turned it into a business or teaching Godly character, modesty and purity through workshops, seminars, and even tea parties. We will plan events, like tea parties, centered on a value or Godly characteristic. We will soon be selling our lessons on CurrClick as well. Thinking of having some video CurrClick studies as well. Our first event is planned in May...it's a Mother's Day Tea and Modern and Modest Fashion Event. However, we can come to schools, homeschool groups, churches, etc. It's called Christian Graces, LLC.

I wish I could attend! We were just talking about this type of thing in Bible Study. There is so much imodesty in church nowadays it is sickening! Sounds wonderful! You need help with a website?

We have a blog right now: http://www.christiangraces.com And with our LLC paperwork through LegalZoom we get some type of website. But if I need help I will let you know.

Hey...if your husband has a button...about 125x125, I will be happy to put it on my personal blog and my business one. Not sure it would do him any good but it can't hurt. You can PM me for my email address.

We will travel! LOL....so if a church wants to pay the traveling fees we will bring the event to you! We have the clothing and I guarantee we are cheaper than Secret Keeper Girl. However, we do Secret Keeper Girl teas as well...and Girls N Grace. I prefer not to do Girls N Grace unless we have a ton of attendees...the licensing is very expensive.
