I meet to post always if you all every watch those old western movies where it's like a ghost town. Well that is what this town looks like right now. You open the door and theres no people around, everything board up, no birds, the only thing I we see or hear are the waves from the ocean.

We had a neighborhood pow wow last night. We are all prepared. We have exchanged numbers and even walkie talkies. Everyone is boarding up. My husband is silly. He just mowed the lawn! Like that is a worry!

I am shocked by the water already coming over the sea wall. Once the storm makes land its heading right over my house! At least that is what it looks like.

HAHHA Tiff, I thought about mowing the lawn, just because... to burn off some energy, to save from having too much high grass with any high water and to empty the lawn mower tank....

    But decided not too...

Too funny... we think alike! hahaha!

The Boardwalk Pei at 61st street is GONE! All in pieces washing up onto the seawall! Holy crap!

SkyEye 13 also found the pier collapsed from the force of the waves off the seawall at 61st Street in Galveston from the strong waves. And this is hours before the storm surge comes in.

A lot of the side streets in the Strand area were under water. The cruise ship terminal is under water as well. Galveston State Park on the west end of the island was fairly flooded as well. Numerous beach homes in Pirates Cove have already lost piers.

We just were given 4 more sheets of plywood. We only had enough to do the two big back windows and now we are able to cover them all! Thank God!

Jen you are funny girl we do think alike! He was mowing and I was washing clothes and cleaning the kitchen. I think I just need to do something ya know?

Samantha is doing her school work, Grace is riding her bike watching daddy work and I am just killing time.

I just bleached my whole kitchen... Hate the way germs multiply when there is no AC and too much humidity after the storm.

Yea, I may not get all the clothes put away, of course but I will get them clean and dry and in at least a pile...

Everyone is taking their showers, now. Then we bleach out the tubs and fill with water.

Note: Some areas may turn off their water service BEFORE the storm gets to you because they do not want polluted waters to enter their systems... so save some water for toilets and such.

We have wind up everything.... wind up flashlights, radios.. I hate batteries....

Also, turn your freezers and fridges to their COLDEST temp NOW.... and make sure they are packed solid.... this keeps them colder longer when the power goes out.

Do not put anything NEW into the fridge or freezer after the power goes out, because that item is warm and will bring UP the temperature....

Go run your dogs and kids around the yards now like crazy, to the point of sweating and exhaustion.... then wash'em up and set them down with a good game.

I am babbling because we cant do anything bu sit here...

when I stop posting, it will be because we lost power...

Oh yes we will certainly shower later today. Clothes are almost done. Kitchen is clean. I still have to do the tubs after the kids take a bath. .

I have decided to also walk around the inside of the house and get anything important to higher ground in case of a flood. Most important is our paper work for the business, contracts and info on the dog. We are moving everything low onto the spareroom bed.

    Goin to eat lunch now.

Ladies, go out now and buy blocks of dry ice they are selling it like crazy down here. You can put that in your freeze and ice box and it will keep things cold for along time.

I am amazed at how much is already going on down there when the hurricane is still hours away from land. I have had Fox News on most of the day and, for the most part, that is all they are covering.

    Kris...why aren't you leaving, girl???

If I am ever in a evacuation situation because of weather, I am taking JenErix with me!! lol Way to be prepared!

Okay ladies I am finally done.

We are done and we are done helping neighbors that needed help.

There is nothing left to do but wait.

    And see what happens.

Our dog is trying to figure it all out. Pretty funny.

I am going off line in a few minutes and I hope to not be gone for too long but I have no idea how long we wont' have power.

Oh crap is that what was burning???

I was on the phone with Kris, walked in, looked at the TV, saw smoke and wondered what that was.

Right now we are totally set and just waiting for Ike.

Dwayne is about to grill baked potatoes and bacon wrapped steak!

    See y'all later!

'Been watching Fox news.com and praying for all of you in Texas! We have a cousin who lives right on the Galveston Bay. She and her dh left yesterday. Thanks, Jen, for the pictures and links. It really shows the reality of the storm.

A boat marina burned to the ground.. the black smoke was the gas from the boats and the smoke was inundating the hospital... it is out now, but there have been other fires...

Officials estimate that 40% of the residence of galveston stayed, and are now in danger of drowning..

I part of my roof just came off... it is one of those little air vent thingies from the attic. We got it back, and ill see if we can staple gun it back on...

We lost power for a moment, but it is back on...

    The wind is starting howl...

We are just sw of houston.... the eye is headed right for us.... EEKK!

If you see Sugar Land, we live near there....
