we made it fine, nothing here but heat and I mean heat we are 101 already, we got the hot side of the hurricane, even though my dh calls it a himacane because its a boy, I told him only a boy would make a mess like this. just picking no tomatoes please not today.

Anyway wanted to let you all know I tryed Tiffany and can't get any answer I know they said there are millions and millions of people without lights. I did talk to a really good friend that lives up there she said it was bad. I don't understand I never will understand why people stay. Like Pam said down here they were telling them to use permit markers to mark there bodies if they stay. She told me she feels there will be alot of death, theres alot of flooding and house damage. She left for high ground. But, WHY did the rest stay.. I know they had one guy on the news and he said my house been here for 30 some years I am not leaving it now. Man oh man house is nothing you would think.
Oh Kris get off your horse and get to work.

Girls and I took all our boards off the windows this morning. DH got called in I believe he will be there most the day, with the rigs down in ocean the parts are on high demand.

I'm thinking that most, if not all of our Houston-area friends are probably without power now. Many buildings in Houston suffered major damage. There are also fires and flooding throughout the city.

The storm is not over yet, and more damage and flooding are expected. The storm did not affect us here in San Antonio as was expected. I think Austin, DaLynn's area, was getting some of the storms outer bands, so her area may experience some wind gusts.

Shawna, I'm sorry to here about your in-laws loss. The Louisiana coast has taken a real beating in the last few weeks!

This has been so scary for everyone whether they are in harms way or somewhere else worried about friends and family. Glad to hear from some of you and waiting to hear from more. Stay safe and God bless. Beth

I talked to Dalynn last night (we are both Night owls). They are fine.
She said they were expecting winds gust between 45-75 mph in Austin. What they got was tropical winds between 39-60 mph.

Austin has a forecase of Thunderstorms today. Currently it is party cloudy there.

just got a phone call from a really good friend in Houston, said all of Houston is without lights, yes theres some fires, but most of them are uncontrol
Said all most all the rain and wind is done. ALot of cleaning up to do. Said it will take weeks for everyone to get power again. She said along the ocean like Galveston and place they are looking for surviors right now. Said she surprise how well Houston held up with all the winds, it could be worst she said. Yes, alot of buildings are damage. But, she thought more. I don't know why. didn't ask. So, it might be awhile before we hear from Jen and Tiffany... I tryed Tiffany again when I got done with my girlfriend but she has no phone yet. My girlfriend was on cell phone when she called me.

Hey, ya'll! I'm here, we're fine - didn't even rain. UGH, sounds nuts to say, but all that build up for nothing!!! I told dh today, "Hey, look! That cloud right there looks like it actually might rain on us!" It was the only grey cloud in the sky. LOTS of clouds, white and some blue, and we can see the sky in breaks here and there, too... but that was the only grey cloud I'd seen all day. LOL

Shawna, so sorry about your in-laws! Will keep them in prayer!

Ok Ladies this is the the update I got from the Houston area, I just talk to my girlfriend who lives in Houston at 8:15 p.m. she said Houston looks like a war zone, the high building have broken windows and glass all over the place, trees up rooted all over the place. Now she has lights just got them back on, no water yet. Said that her husband who works for the city has been downtown Houston all day long and it's a War Zone, be awhile before everything is clean up.

Now Galveston she said they lost a ballroom thats been there for over 100 years it's flat. Alot of the houses under water. She said they are saying between Houston and Galveston there are 1,000's of people missing or trapped. So sad. WHY didn't they leave?

Any way I tryed Tiffany before I got on still no answer I will keep trying till about 10 if nothing I will keep trying tomorrow.

Oh she said it's not doing anything now it's mostly gone. Ike took a Hike..

Keep us posted on Tiffany and Jenn.

I can't remember which one of you posted that your husband was worried about his deer meat, but my hubby said you are welcome to come stay with us while you are without housing....that sounds like something my dh would be worried about too!

    Hello ladies,
I don't know how I missed this posting but I asked on the hs page and Kris said....pssst, there's already a thread on the other one. sorry.
I have worried about you all all weekend! I knew that many of you wonderful ladies are in Texas! I am so glad to hear that you all have made it through. We are watching the aftermath this morning on the news...It looks horrible!
We're still praying for you all and the ladies we haven't heard from yet. We are also praying that the clean up will be quick and people will be safe and be able to get back to their lives.
    God Bless you all!
