I was a PC consultant for about 3 years - I have a ton of the stoneware and is IS great! A lot of consultants sell off pieces on ebay that they earned free - so you can definitely pick up a bargain, and believe the prices are MUCH cheaper than the catalog!!!

I'm not doing it anymore, too much stress, I wanted it to be fun.

If you can get a slightly used one that's already started to darken all the better! I keep my large round and my large bar pan in the oven all the time they're almost black!

Jackie, I'm sorry for your bad experience! You can go to the PC website and ask for a local consultant to contact you. They usually have the ones that are directors on the list which works out best for you b/c you would get one with lots of experience and not one that would flake out on you like that. I know when I was a consultant, the calling and hostess "coaching" was the hardest part for me...I was always so nervous. I never flaked out on an opportunity though. Some of my smallest shows were the best ones.

Good luck on the stone finds. They are GREAT to cook with, I love them for everything. All I need now is a square baker...I think I'm going to check out ebay! :D

No, I'm not sure she meant she would "give them to me". I sure didn't take it like that! If you and her can come to an agreement, all the more power to you! I just wanted you to be aware of how much shipping would run.

Kbabe, I've had several shows in the past, so I know this is not their normal way of operating. Never before have I had this trouble!!! Next year, I might try getting a consultant that way.

All presses must be different. Mine makes it clear nothing with oils, such as spreads. I tried it before with margarine for baking and it still didn't work. I have to use real butter with mine.
I am still looking for the recipes. I think I may have put it away when I was cleaning a few months back, getting ready for the realtor. I will have Handsome look for my kitchen box.

If you need the PC recipe, I think I have the product info card that comes with it somewhere around here. i sold my press (my mom gave me an electric one by wilton that totally rocks! so out with the manual press!).

I'll dig it out if you need the recipe that comes with the press though. I'm pretty sure it needs butter AND from what I recall if you let it get too loose (i.e. leaving it out with dough in it while waiting for a batch to bake) it just turns to mush and won't work right. Kind of why I got rid of it. I don't have that problem with the one I have now AND it came with the decorator tips for filling things like devilled eggs and such so it even replaces the easy accent decorator~ LOLO :D

I think the butter/margarine thing would depend on the individual recipe. I'm sure there are some that you can't and some you can. The press itself, I don't think, would make a difference.

Does anyone have LINZER cookie cutters? I got one last year. It's a round cutter that you can put inserts on. That way, you cut one regular round batch, and the next batch you use the insert, cutting out shapes in the center. Then you sandwich the two batches together with raspberry jam between them. The jam can be seen in the cutout center.

Krista, I just checked out your blog spot ( I don't remember if I had or not already) but you have some great ideas there. I don't usually go to blog spots you have a very nice one, I coppied the friendship soup if you don't mind and sent it to a friend. Thank you.

A friend of mine and I did the same thing with a lentil barley soup one Christmas. We got together and made enough for her other friends and my other friends, and it was fun working on it together! We put it in jars with the squares of material for the lids, and the directions typed out and attached to a ribbon that was tied around the top of the jar, below the lid.

She's right it's a neat but inexpensive gift to give others! And our friends really liked it! We were going to do something like that again, but never got around to it.

We made layered jars like that in MOPS one time also. Only the ingredients layered in the jars were for chocolate chip or raisin cookies (we could pick which ones to put in). The square of material was used with the lid, and the directions to make the cookies were attached in the same way.

These are very fun projects the kids could help with too!

:) of course! Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks...my blog is about my passion for cooking! It's really just a place for me to drop my dinner ideas and such! I'm trying hard to keep it simple or I'll never do it!

I find some blogs are all bogged down with advertisements and stuff! I cannot stand a blog that has tons of flashing things on it! I might as well go to google, right!!!???

Hope you enjoy that soup, it's one of our faves. I plan on getting the ingredients this year just for us to have the soup. Hubby's not allowed to have beef often (gout) so I use chicken for the meat and chicken broth instead of beef. I know the one year I made it for our playgroup I made it with crumbled soy protien stuff, it was so yummy, you couldn't even tell!

    :)

Come January, we need to do a Soup Recipe thread! But personally, I can't even THINK of any other kind of cooking right now other than cookies and candies, lol!

    :) happy to help!

I'm making it this year too to put in the coffee baskets. I dont like coffee much, but someone said if you mix your hot cocoa mix into coffee it's really yummy!!! :D

Jackie a soup thread sounds like a great idea! I have a few soup recipes on my blog, but I love soup as a meal, especially in winter. Crockpot soups are even better! Of course, my favorite kind of cooking is the kind where you throw everything in a pot and walk away (LOL :D)

Ultimate Snickerdoodles are in the process right now. Butter is softening. I'm going to make one batter a night this week and freeze it. Then do all the baking next week.

Promised my daughter I'd keep a little dough out from each batch to cook for us this week! :D

    Tomorrow is Chocolate Chip.

    Wednesday is Peanut Butter.

Thursday I have to make Splenda Almond Biscotti for my MIL's Christmas basket. I'm bummed I cannot dip it in chocolate! She's a severe diabetic. Insulin 3 times a day. Anybody know of a sugar free melting chocolate OR if I could buy baking squares and sweeten with splenda and it would still be okay?

Friday I'm going to get Sugar Cookie dough ready. We're having a kid's Christmas Party here next Weds. I think we'll prebake the cookies and everyone can frost & decorate their own.

Taking a Baking Break Sat & Sunday b/c we have tons of plans! :D

DH made gingerbread men yesterday. I have my Linzer cookies dough made up, and chilling. I ran out of softened butter, so I'm kind of at a stop until it softens up again, and then I'm making my pressed cookies. I found a recipe today for something called "Bishop's Hats". You take 2" circles, put jelly in the middle, and fold the sides up to make a "tri-cornered hat". DH bought some cream cheese and Oreos for those "Dirty Snowballs" posted here!
