Kris, I know what you mean. It took $80.00 to fill up the van this week. That is a record for us I think. Beth

It's $3.30 or more per gallon around here! :( That's just crazy! Is it ever going to stop?

While driving up here to northern Oregon one stop cost us 130.00 to fill up! Ouch! I just got an email from a friend saying that their is an online petition going on asking everyone to not fuel up on May 15th. The result would be almost a 3 billion loss for the oil industry. I plan to boycott that day, whether it helps or not at least I'll give it a try.

I don't know if we will or not, but I also heard that we are supposed to hit $4.00 by the end of summer. We will see!

I just read on Snopes that a one day boycott really doesn't do anything. The reason is, people just buy gas on another day, so they buy the gas anyway, so it's not any loss to the big guys. The one day boycotts DO tend to be hard on the mom & pop and smaller places that have a hard enough time keeping their heads above water in this craziness!

Just thought I'd share that , since I just read it a couple of days ago. If you want to hurt the big guys, it'd have to be a real sacrifice for a lot of people---to use mass transit, carpool, and for a month or more cut WAY back on gas consumption! If people did that, it WOULD make a dent in the big money-hungry companies, but it'd have to be a mass effort!

I can't believe the gas is this high! It's crazy!

My uncle owns numerous gas stations througout Los Angeles County and he said that the gas is way over priced, including his!
He said the same thing Deena, that the little guy will suffer if everyone boycotted for a day. The little man tends to sell for less so he can sell more. Usually the little man only has one or two stations max compared to larger companies.

I don't think it's the oil companies fault so much as their suppliers, they're the ones who set the price per barrel.

Have any of you guys heard of the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez?

Venezuela is fourth-largest foreign supplier of oil to U.S.

He recently convinced his country to give him complete dictator control over the country. (Buy getting rid of term limits, nationalizing many formerly private parts of his economy, such as banking and so on.)

He also, this past week kicked out ALL oil companies and "Nationalized" all of their oil production.

Hugo Chavez is the SOLE owner of CITGO Gas.
    Just for your own FYI.

That, coupled with the fact that the EPA will not let us make any new refineries means that yes, there is enough oil, but it "Bottle Necks" at the refineries and only so much can be refined.

But keep an eye on Hugo Chavez. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, and this guy looks very familiar to me, when I consider our world's history.

My DH and I have been watching Hugo Chavez for some time. I will never again get Citco gas. This man is truly our enemy.

Here in my area of GA regular gas is $2.91 and diesel is $2.96 per gallon.

This will not stop us however. As disgusting as this is, I will not let it ruin our life on the road and we have 2 tanks that hold 85 gallons of diesel fuel. That costs a pretty penny to fill.

It is what it is and right now there is very little we can do about it. We need to find other sources for fuel or alternative methods. Our truck can actually run on cooking oil, but that costs more than diesel at the pump.

Deena is right, those one day gas outs really don't hurt the bottom line of the large companies, only the mom and pop's.

Our gas right now is $3.20 here. Not sure what's going on. Though I did hear on the news that environmentalists complain each time the US wants to drill for oil. Geeze, (imo) wouldn't it be nice the the U.S. to not depend on another country for something such as oil. (I am not starting a debate) But, yes gas it high.

Our gas was $3.19 yesterday and $3.09 today. It just sickens me. I am soooo glad we didn't buy an SUV, we could never afford to fill it up! My little car is decent on gas but still...$10.00 barely gets you 1/4 a tank anymore. lol...I have a small Corsica...so $10.00 did give me a decent amount of gas a few years ago..lol.

We are at $3.20. It cost me $50 to fill up the other day. UGH! I have a Toyota Highlander and it gets pretty decent gas mileage....but with these prices, I don't tink it matters what you drive...it is just plain expensive!!

I have a mini-van and drive 116 miles round trip to work at least 3 days a week, it SUCKS!!! the only relief I get(which isnt much but a HUGE HELP) is when my sister is in town and can pick up Madison or she spends the nights on the weekends I work. that will save me about 100 miles in a weekend.

    Bwaa haaa!
    You're the Devil!
    Hahaha!

    Kidding...
    Right now we are $2.81 - $2.85

I heard a radio commentator make a funny statement today...

"I think the only impetus for us to finally get off our duffs and finally find an alternate fuel is if and when we run out of oil. SO I am suggesting that for the good of the country, for the good of the earth and for the good of humanity, get out there and burn as much gas as you can in the largest SUV you can get your hands on!

In fact, leave the thing running in the garage overnight! Pretty soon, there will be no more and we can tell Saudi Arabia and Hugo Chavez to kiss our Red, white and blue fannies!"

    BWAAAAA HAAAAA HAAAAA!

We were at $2.81 yesterday. I haven't been out today. The highest here was 2.91 about a week ago. If this trend continues, I will have to take my kids out of activities. There is nothing in our rural area, and I have to drive an hour to get the the girls' dance school, doctor's and dentist offices, etc.

It is sad that us little folks have to hurt with gas so high.
It does effect families of middle and lower class alot.
I don't know anyone who it isn't effecting.
