Did you read where I posted earlier (In this thread) about the guys theory that if we simply burn it all up real fast, that we will no longer be reliant on oil. WE will be forced to find alternates? That's halarious. And a little wishfull thinking, but funny.

I just wish I could go totally solar!
    That would rock!

Jen, my parents are all solar and man made electricity.
It has been a blessing for them with my moms medical needs.

You ladies remind me of my dad!;)

He has an old car on the side of the house that does not have wheels or a running transmission. When they are having cloudy days and he doesn't want to drain the storage of electricity, he starts the engine of the car. He has it hooked up to generator that is connected to the house. One time I was visiting and they had a snow storm coming in. My mom wanted to curl her hair so my dad went outside and started the car. I was laughing so hard. They like living like this. Another time their solar panels blew away in a freak tornado. So we watched TV while the car ran.
I figured it would burn a lot of gas but my dad said because they only do it when there is no sun and because the car is always idle, they hardly use any gas in the car.

I love to read how you all save energy. I had to laugh to myself with this one, we are in a hotel room and the children are sleeping - didn't want to wake them up.

You know, running the car for the tv is really not that different from having a tv plugged into the wall.... because of where your power comes from... Because most (Not all) of regular house electricity is derived from "Fosil Fuels".

We have the option to buy electricity from the power company that supposedly comes from 100% wind power, but basically most peoples power is originating from those same dirty fuels that cars get a bad rap for.....

So, the next time someone says we should have electric cars that we simply plug into the wall at night...... tell them that it only makes a difference if your home power (Where you get the cars' power) is 100% solar, or wind or hydro powered!

    Otherwise, what's the difference?
    Hahaha!

I would love to be 100% wind or solar or hydro!
Hydro meaning harnessing the power of naturally falling water....
Have you ever stood at the sea shore and thought, "Geesh! With all this wind constantly blowing, we could line up several wind mills and get TONS of power! I do...

If they could trap about one hour of central OK wind, I think that could power the country for at least a year.

we've never bought Citgo gas- it's cheap gas as dh puts it lol- it's a lesser price for a reason.

Gas is 2.79 here right now. So glad I have a car that gets good gas mileage- costs me 38 dollars to fill it up at the moment, but that will last me for close to 400 miles.

Problem is we drive a lot- all the homeschool stuff is at least 15-30 miles away. Now dd's occupational therapy is 30 miles away and that's every week, art class is 15 miles away, shopping is around the same lol. Nothing is close really.

Total threadjack here...When I taught 5th grade, I always used the book Prairie Songs by Pam Conrad as a read aloud. (If you have not read this, I highly recommend it!) Anyway, in it the use the word "dung" when they are talking about the buffalo chips they burned. And then the lady's water breaks. Guess who got to explain both of those things. The kids thought it was hysterical, and so did their parents. No sympathy for Mrs. G.

    Threadjack over. Continue on.

Again, the environmentalists think that it would ruin their view if we were to put up wind turbines in the middle of the desert or ocean where no one ever goes!

Yet in the middle of underdeveloped countries we are using solar power to power a fence to keep predator's away from their goats and to power a light for the families to have in their dirt huts at night.

But geeze the view, come on, we need the view. ;)

I can't believe it, I filled my gas tank up on Saturday, paid $2.93 and today it is $3.49. I think I'm turning in my drivers license and selling my van. I don't like this at all. I remember when I first learned how to drive it was $.32 per gallon. Ugh!!! I'm glad we took our vacation when we did.

Our gas is at $3.29 a gallon right now. We stayed at $2.79 for a while and then late last week it started going up. When it hit $3.08 I thought it would start going back down but the very next day it was $3.29!! Thankfully I have a minivan that does great on Gas and hubby has a motorcycle. But at these prices it don't matter how good gas milage you get. We have been teasing about buying an old horse drawn buggy that we saw for sale outside one of the antique stores here in town.

Gas here is $3.39. I so hope and pray it doesn't go too much above that. However, I know it will eventually. Thank goodness my car is good on gas.

The news is reporting that we are at $3.00 but I noticed yesterday that Walmart was still at $2.93. I just don't have any money right now to put in!
