Oh I forgot to add. It is going to cost me $125 to have the tooth pulled. Kris call around some more. I called one place that was $350! Going to try peroxide rinse and rice in a sock now. I just threw up my meds again.
Tiffany, are you getting something in your stomach before you take your pills, even just a sip of milk or spoon of yogurt? A milkshake or extra softened ice cream? Just something to coat your stomach so you can tolerate the medicine.
Tiffany, You may be sensitive or allergic to the antibiotic you're taking. That happened to me. I had pneumonia, and the doctor gave me some antibiotic. I started feeling sick that same night, and started throwing up. All the next day I did too.....I couldn't even drink water without throwing up. All the next day that's what happened. I felt HORRIBLE! So we called the doctor's office the next day and they said that I must be allergic and to stop taking the antibiotic right away. The doctor prescribed a different kind, and then I started getting better. Ask about that, you shouldn't be sick like that!
Well I think I figured it out. The antibiotic sits fine in my tummy. It is the pain pills - Vicodin. I have no appetite but I know I have to eat. Dh called earlier and I was crying to him on the phone to come home. He is very busy today but he did drive home, make me some toast and fix the girls lunch before going back to work. Becky you are totally right - I need to eat. I am forcing a second peice of toast down right now because I desperately need another pain pill. The doctor told me to at least drink milk with it but when I did that last night it all came back up. Right now my whole face hurts but a while ago there was no face pain only nausea. It goes back and forth between the two. If by later this afternoon I still can't keep anything down I will call the DR again. I know it is the pain pills and Tylenol isn't working anymore.
wow Monkeymama I hope you are feeling better soon. I think I would give the dr a call right now. It takes them awhile to call back if you know what I mean...
A common side effect of Vicodin is vomiting. I would call the doctor and ask for something else. Hope you feel better.

This afternoon I slept for 4 hours after I rinsed with peroxide and applied heat and tried to eat something before taking the meds. I think I have it figured out. I am about to eat a small amount again and take my pain pills. Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight. I will update you all in the am. You ladies are so awesome!
Hey, Tiffany, I hope you are feeling better! As far as the vicodin, you may just have a tolerance to the pain that won't let the meds help. I can take an 800mg motrin like it is nothing but let my sis take the smallest dose and she is gone. Your description of your dental past was like deja-vu with my sis, Beth A. She had soooo many things done to her teeth. My mom spent several thousand dollars on dental work and still ended up with more problems. At the time I worked for the dentist and he would actually have Beth come in after school without telling our mom and he did additional work for free. All of this to no avail as she still lost all her teeth from young. It is a heriditary problem-our mom had all hers pulled at 16. Hopefully by the time you read this you have gotten some sleep and the meds are working. Let us know how you are doing.
Have you tried the Sever Pain Formula Orajel to see if you can numb it some? I know some people swear by clove oil for toothache relief but I have never tried it. I just feel so bad for you. I am praying you get some relief soon. Beth
Good morning ladies! I'm happy to report I slept almost all night long!! I woke up at 4am in pain and took another antibiotic and a couple Tylenol. Went back to sleep until 9am!! Woo Hoo!! Of course when I woke up at 9 I was in a lot of pain. But again I took two Tylenol and another antibiotic and now I am okay. I am trying to save the Vicodin for night times so I can sleep. Plus I have my parents anniversary this weekend to get through. I had been using the Orajel the past several days but now it just hurts my mouth. It gets very sensitive. I'm also using a heat compress on my face when it gets bad. So get this - my pastor emailed me to see how I am doing and I found out that two other ladies in our church that I know well both have an abscess tooth!! Crazy huh? Well I am eating a bowl of oatmeal now and I'm gonna try to take a nap later. It feels a lot better when I'm sleeping.
my tooth pain is still haunting me. I saw a commercial for another Orajel product that comes in a box......... I may need to check it out it says its supposed to be a month of pain relief! DH is supposed to be bringing me a copy of the works dental insurance co-pays. (this is supposed to be worthless insurance, I don't know what it will cover)
so glad you are feeling a little better. I feel sorry for all you ladies with tooth pain. I'm so glad I had my removed, I don't miss the pain. I had jaw pain and ear pain. Its all gone now that the teeth are gone. I'm even smilling and not worring about being toothless. I had a little boy at summer school notice today that I had no teeth and he want to touch my mouth. I told him he was not putting his fingers in my mouth, but he was so cute! Hope you all find relief soon!!
Well I can tell the antibiotic has finally kicked in. My whole face doesn't hurt anymore just the left side of my jaw. I am still in a lot of pain but nothing like the last two days. I am sitting here watching the clock so I can take another dose of meds at 5pm. My tooth is throbbing so bad but I don't want to take my meds too soon. I'm always worried about an overdose of any kind.
Update Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that I go in today at 3:30 to get my tooth pulled. I am terrified!!!!! My hands are shaking and my heart is already beating fast. Dh is going to take me - bless his heart. I am just so scared. If you are the praying type would you please send up a little prayer for me????? God Bless you all!
