praying here. I hope you feel better soon. remember to also flow the instruction of your dentist after words. No straws, smoking anything that reguires sucking. Good Luck!!
Hope everything goes OK. I have a terrible fear of dentist too. I have several issues right now that I am currently ignoring. I wish you much less pain.
I'm praying that the extraction won't be nearly as bad as you had feared, that you'll experience immediate relief, and that this will be the end of your tooth problems.
Got back fromteh dentist about 45 mins ago. My fears were all for nothing I'm happy to report! This dentist is my hero! First he numbed my mouth which I didn't feel at all - not even the needle! Then it took about 5 mins max to get the tooth out. I felt a lot of pressure but no pain at all. I couldnt' believe it was over so quickly. I told him and his staff how wonderful they are and made appointments to have my teeth cleaned as well as Samantha's. I am pleasently surprised and so happy to know that now I can go to a dentist without being terrified. My jaw is really sore, my mouth is still numb and I have a big wad of cotton in my mouth. Dh is about to go get my pain meds from CVS. Thank you to all my friends here who prayed for me during this miserable time. I love you guys!
BWAA HAAA HAAA You even type with a "Just had dental work done" lisp! Hahahahaha! Glad all went well. Have fun with the meds and call me in about three days wen you are able! So Happy for you!
I am so glad the tooth is out and it wasn't a bad experience with this dentist. Sounds like you found a good one. I always dread the dentist too so I have been worried about you and praying for you. So happy it is over for you now. Beth
I'm happy for you that the tooth is out, that it wasn't a traumatic extraction, and very glad that maybe your dental fears can subside. 'Thanking the Lord for answered prayers and hoping you'll be able to enjoy the week with your family and friends.
Thank God for pain pills ladies!!!! I woke up at 4am in extremem pain again. Took a vicodin, cried a bit and went back to sleep. Had to take another one as soon as I got up. My poor husband is such a wonderful man. He had to be out the door at 6am and I tried so hard not to wake him last night. He woke up right away and was so concerned. Even in my drugged up state this morning I vaugely remember him kissing my forhead and saying something really sweet when he left for work. I know that I have been the reason he hasn't slept much in the last week. Last night he said he was just so happy that I was actually smiling again because he hadn't seen that in a while. I've never had a tooth pulled before so I have no long this will actually take to heal. I'm hoping not long but until then I may just have to keep my pills close by!
Sending you hugs! Don't let it dry out! Don't drink through a straw! Don't smoke... DUH... Don't give up!
When I had mine pulled I was told to rinse with warm salt water. Don't swish it around just hold it in your mouth then let it run out. I hope it heals fast and the pain goes away! If not you may have to have it checked for a dry socket.
Well ladies I used to be a smoker. Seirously up until last week I was a smoker.Guess what! I quit last week when I got sick from this and haven't ahd one since! I guess a blessing came out of all this crap. So far.... taking my pain pills haven't smoked haven't drank through a straw trying to keep it moist by drinking lots of water (what else can I do to make sure no dry socket?) I think it will be fine. Pain is expected when you get a tooth yanked out of your jaw right? It was just so infected before. I think by this weekend I should be okay. I am going to try the salt water thing.
Dry sockets happen more in women who are on birth control pills. Smokers are more likely to have them also. Any motion like smoking or drinking through a straw can make them come on. I am not saying that you have a dry socket but if you do there are things the dentist can do to help the pain. They usually form after a extraction site has clotted over and the clot comes loose and air gets to the bone. Try not to spit too often as that can cause them to form also. I hope the pain is better for you this evening. Remember it usually helps to sleep with your head elevated. Feel better soon. Beth
I hope that your serious about quiting smoking even after the pain goes away. Glad you got it taken care of. I go in on Thursday to see what they can do to mine, I want to avoid having it pulled, I don't know if it would be cheapper to do that or have it filled.
Oh I'm totally serious about not smoking. So far so good. And I leave Sunday for a week at church summer camp where smoking isn't allowed. If I can make it that long I promised myself I'll never smoke again. It is nasty.
Tiffany---I'm rooting for ya, girl! You can do it!!! And I'll pray for you too, prayer never hurt anyone---God can help!!!
I quit, after 22 years of smoking just nearly 2 years ago. I quit each time I got pregnant, then convinced myself that everyone has a vice and mine wasn't so bad.... snicker... Anyway, I did have he catalist of a teenager whom I had told to change her whole life and go back to church...... telling me that I needed to do something drastic. SO smoking was it. But ultimately, what allowed me to never smoke again was attitude. Here's how it goes... In the movies such as Full Metal Jacket, G.I. Jane, The right Stuff, and others of the like where someone has to be tough to survive... there is always a "Test" scene where the star of the show is tested and they make it. The others who do not are weaker. They are told something such as "Is that all it takes to trip you up?" "Dayng! You're easy to trip up!" I finally saw nicotine as a drug that was taking me away from my family, forcing me to be dependant on it, grumpy SMELLY and so on. Apparently all it took to trip me up was a small roll of paper and tobbacco... If that's all you had, I was YOURS! That pissed me off! I do NOT belong to ANYONE! But I allowed THIS little stick to control me. That made me mad. I suddenly saw it as a form of weakness. And as I went through withdraws, I got angrier and angrier at the cigarrettes... After the cry fits, I would calm down and realize those b**ta*ds woul never get my money again. WHT would I want to go through this again?? Because after going through this, they will NEVER get my money again. It was like being excammunicated from a gang, I was beat down, left alone and helped in now way. Where was my "Friend" when I was down? No where, because it is an inanimate object. And apparently, all it takes is a small inanimate object to ""Trip me up." No more! I wore the patch for 3 months, then had to go through the nicotine withdraws all over again, when I got off the patch! So watch out for that too... However I do reccomend the patch because it allows you to build new habbits... (I mean habbits of where you are when you smoke and those situations.. NOT that smoking is a habbit, it is NOT a "Bad HAbbit"! Smoking is an ADDICTION!) Also, (Until the car was destroyed in the accident..) There was a packof cigs in my hubbys car with ONE cigarrette in it. And in my closet, there is ONE patch. WHY? Because as long as they are in arms reach and I do NOT reach for them, I know that"I" am stronger than "IT". I got the idea from the TV show "Lost" when the older guy tells the crack adict that he's better to quit now and get out form under the power of the drug while it is here and become like a david to this goliath, than to be FORCED to quit, just because he will run out of the drug.... Because this way you will KNOW that YOU are the one in control! I never reached for the other cig or that patch because I felt it laughing at my weakness and I would get mad. I know this is long, but If I can give you a shoulder to quit on, it is HERE! I also FREAK OUT in the grocery store when a smoker passes me... I ask Jack.. DID I really smell THAT bad? Holly crap! Good luck Love ya! Call me if you need to!
