I think a lot of the "children's movies" out there aren't so much pitched at little kids as they are at high teenagers. You can turn on the Power Rangers and get the same reaction out of a 6 year old that you do out of a stoned 20 year old.
Looney Tunes, no. Pink Panther, no. Only reason is because for awhile we did and Tanner started repeating some things I didn't care for. I told him if he kept repeating things, he wouldn't be allowed them. In the end, they were taken away. He can watch Baby Looney Tunes though which seems to be a little more tamer and for some reason he doesn't copy what he sees on that one. It's not he was saying bad things. It's just that he hears a phrase, thinks it's funny, and says it over and over...making it EXTREMELY annoying! So, it's not that I think they are bad...they just don't mix with my child. Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse (which is really educational) and House of Mouse we watch.
We love Tom and Jerry! But honestly, my kids are kind of past the cartoon stage. They prefer shows like Full house (our favorite) hannah Montanna on Disney, Drake and Josh (Disney), etc. Also, although we have seen alot of movies, it is rarely at the movie theater. It is usually on TV or occasionally we rent them.
Tom and Jerry was the reason we had to take LT away. I love Tom and Jerry though! I wish the kid would just learn to watch it and keep his mouth zipped, but...........such a typical boy he is. Maybe when he's a bit older he'll get it back.
I let my older kids watch all of those T&J, Pink Panther, Mickey and Looney Tunes. My younger ones have seen mostly Mickey and T&J. A bit of the other two, but I have stopped that.
I used to let them watch Aristocats.....then one bit the other in the leg and well.....I still let them watch it. It was very funny.
Yes to all of them. Well I would say yes if got channels that had those shows. No cable here. I love Looney Tunes!!
We are watching Bridge to Terrabithia (or however you spell it) right now. What do you all think of that movie? A friend let us borrow it.
Has anyone watched the new Harry Potter movie that just came out? If you have let me know what it's like.
I will highly recommed Miss Potter. Young ones will be bored but 10 & up would enjoy it (I think--mine did) It is rated PG for 1 word (ba***rd-but it is muffled-and friend of mine missed it entirely) There is nothing inappropriate that I noted. It is an excellent story of Beatrix Potter's life. It just came out on dvd this week.
Thankfully, my kids have never been interested in Harry Potter. That is one I do have mixed feeling about. But if they really were interested in it, I may let them watch it with me and discuss whatever issues came up. But again.....thankfully I don't have to battle that one!
What about Lord of the Rings (and personally I like these movies) My kids haven't see them. But my oldest are begging to!
Nellie I'm not sure how old your kids are. I think it comes down to being able to adjust your rules for the age of the child. People's opinions will be swayed for what they see in their own homes. You say Lord of the Rings, and I say AAAAAAAAHHHHH, but I have little ones only. Does that make since?
the new Harry Potter movie doesn't come out until the end of July. My dd's and dh is counting down the days till it does they can't wait....
