Count us in - I think free is the best, with transportation costs and hotel costs. Lynne and I were talking about getting a suite so the kids could be in one room and us in another. If we book rooms at one hotel, maybe they will give us a special rate. I will ask my daughter, she works at Comfort Inn. I know I can get a discount - family and friends. We stayed one night this last weekend for $44. Not too bad. Yes, Ava, our girls are close in age, they will get along great!!!
I hadn't planned on spending the night, but maybe might consider it if we had a bunch of us. Driving between Columbus and Bowling Green comes second nature to me! Plus, I wouldn't mind stopping and visiting for a short while (maybe an hour) at the Campus House to the Campus Ministry I belonged to in college. We still send a monthly support check there.
When are we talking?? I dont know if I can do a thursday, I work tuesdays and thursdays..have been asking for quite a few switches in my schedule lately, I would hate to ask for another one..ohh unless I gave 1 girl a friday off LOL
I'm still thinking how I could work it out. I would have to ask for the time off and work and not sure it they would give it to me. I'm also not sure it I can trust my van. I would love to meet all of you. My son is 12 anyone have children around that age?
Yes, that's fine too. For me, the bigger challenge will be convincing DH that the kids and I "need" to make a trip!!
Fridays work for me...funny...I was about to suggest a Friday this morning. I looked into the metro parks and there are tons of free events but most are in the evening. I will look again as I was not considering Friday at the time. Ok...if we are planning on Toledo...could we all do a roll call. Include the kids' ages also. Looks like we all have kids around the same age...I mean there are lots of older and younger..that's great! That is all I know for sure. Please add to it! lol. Also let's get a final destination. I feel like once Toledo was suggested I took over..lol..I don't want it to be a burden. Of course I am all for Toledo...lol. However, I want to do what is best for everyone. Let's also think of a weekday and then we can start considering dates. I am ok for Tuesdays, Thrusdays and Fridays.
I really want to come. But is all I keep thinking. My job is just starting on Aug. 28. And I don't know if they could find someone to cover or they may tell me I have to find someone. I would have to take 2 days off. We have a meeting this friday so I will ask my supervisor about it. So you guys are thinking the end of Sept or Oct, right? So if I can make it my son Devin is 12.
Ava, here we also have most of the planned events on the weekends. But you can also call and tell them you have a scholl group and they will schedule something for you during the week. I don't know if that's possible where you're at or not. I also sent a PM to MammaKittyCat. She's in central Ohio, so I wanted to make sure she knew about it.
Just talked to Lynne on the phone and she said she would like to join us. She has Cody 11 and Kyle 7. Wednesdays are out for both of us, too.

I think I have friday Oct. 5th off. I can find out tomorrow at our meeting. I still would have to find reliable transportation though. I just talk to my son and he wants to do this. I was thinking about asking my mom if she would like to tag along. Her car maybe better. My FIL just stoppped by and he thinks it will take more then 5 hours. (map quest says 4 hours and 55 mins.) Do you have an idea of the hotel. I could put in their address and see what I get. I put in Toledo zoo's address and thats where I get 4 h & 55 min.
Amy, Talk to Ohio Grandma. She is going to stay at a hotel. It would be cool if you all stayed in the same hotel. Might make things simpler. Not sure where she is staying though. Ohio G'ma: Do you know where your hotel is? If you give me the location I can tell you where it is from my house.
I haven't looked into hotels yet. My daughter might have lost her job, not sure yet. Will know more on Monday. She works at a Comfort Inn. Anyway, she said that we could get a group rate if all of us stayed at the same hotel.
Oh..I hope she doesn't loose her job! There is a Comfort Inn by my house. 3560 Secor Rd. Toledo, OH 43606 This is near the mall and on the same side of town as the Art Museum. Here is another one: Comfort Inn 1426 S. Reynolds Rd. Maumee, OH 43537 This is right off the turnpike. This is on the same side of town as the Toledo Botanical Gardens. Now...keep in mind that nothing is more than a 15-20 minute drive away anyway. I will be happy to provide you all with maps from your hotel to my house and vice versa...also to the attractions in case we meet there or loose sight of one another. Just find your way to the hotel.
I have the reservation person on the phone right now. He gave me a rate of $71.00 per night. I told him we are a homeschooling group and us mothers do not work and we will have traveling expenses, plus food. I told him I need a room for about $50. per night. He has me on hold checking right now. I'll let you know what I find out in a minute or so. I am twisting his arm.
