I was thinking the same thing last night, Jackie. That is why I was trying to think of an alternate plan. October can be cold. We probably won't want to spend a lot of time outside. So, we can either move the date up or I can brainstorm about a new activity. The art museum is still a possiblity...but not the family center as it is closed on Fridays. The apple orchard does have pumpkins. So, that is still an option....but outside again. Depending on the amount of people I can squeeze you all inside for dinner. You would be amazed how many we can squeeze in when we have to..LOL. I can look into my church. That does sound like a good idea.
Ok..the apple orchard tour is $7.00 per person. UGH. However, going to the apple orchard is free. So, we do have some possibilities. Now we just need to figure a date. As October goes on in Ohio things will get cold....or unpredictable..lol. So we can get our meeting together sooner...or...and I do hate to mention this...wait for spring break. We may have more options then. With a big group holding things outdoors works out nicely. The Bontanical Gardens will still have scavenger hunts and classes then. That maybe a nice time to go anyway. I really want to make this work...but I wonder if we should do this in warm sunny weather as opposed to rainy cold weather? I am up for anything. However, I don't want you ladies to travel all this way to have plans spoiled by weather. Just a thought. Like I said...I am up for anything! However, I am not the one traveling...so that may make a difference. so, let's get some input...do you ladies want a fall meeting or a spring meeting? What sounds better to all of you? Would it help those who work to have this planned for the spring? I would be happy to have you ladies in the fall, spring or even both! lol....so just let me know. Here are the things we discussed so far: apple picking Toledo Bontanical Gardens Toledo Zoo Toledo Museum of Art event at the Metro Parks. So, we have plenty of things to do....we just need a timeframe..... I know AmyU seems to be having difficulties right now...so if we do this soon she will most likely not be able to come...that is just my assumption. Melissa works...and maybe setting a date farther off would help her. Jackie, Ohio G'ma and I seem to have the most flexibility since we don't work. Not sure about anyone else. Like I said, I am up for anything. Just let me know! I do know that the first week in September is out for me. I may not be available the second week either...but that is iffy.
If you did it in the spring, it would be more likely that I could come. I usually go to Toledo for spring break alot anyway. This fall is just not possible for me as we are going up to Toledo for 2 days for my nephews wedding and making another trip would get costly. Now...even though I vote spring...my kids are the ones in school now and I don't have the flexibilty as most of the others...so I am fine with you planning this whenever and however you would like, and I will just see if it works for me. (but I do hope I can meet with y'all!!)
Why not do 2 get togethers? We could do one now and then in the spring or next summer when it is warmer or we could all travel to TX and join them because weather is always warm Just my 2 cents.
We are flexible as to now or in the spring..I just try to plan things on my off weekends, plus those are payday weekends LOL so it makes things easier too. It's going to be hard getting everybody together at once. Our schedules are so full. I think we should just pick a date in October and one in May or June and go with it. It can be cold and rainy in Ohio in August too. We just had rain and 60 degree weather - too cold to go outside. I also remember mowing the lawn in December and 65 degrees. Ohio weather is so unpredictable!!! I would love to meet everyone, but it's very hard to plan something like this and everyone come. I think 2 times a year would be great. My kids love to go apple picking, BUT at least down here there was a hard freeze after they blossomed, and it killed most of the crop. And usually we're picking during September, into October. By the end of October, most are gone. I was telling DH just today that I wasn't sure I could get enough apples to put down as much sauce as I usually made, or they would be expensive if I COULD do it. I'm also for scheduling one for now, and then possibly again in the spring. There will never be a time that is perfect for EVERYONE, so we need to decide when is best for the most people.
With what just happen yesterday I'm not sure I could make it in Oct. But like you guys said there is always next spring. And someday I will meet you all. I'm still hoping my hubby will only be off a short time. They said he would be one of the first called back So we will just have to wait and see.
Sorry for not responding to this sooner. I have been busy. Anyway...so we are back to fall...right???? Ok...did we say September or October??? UGH!!!! I am feeling pressured now...LOL. Make it easy on me...are we still shooting for a friday? Are we shooting for september or October or does that matter?
I think we decided most poeple can make it on Friday. How about if you make a list of possible dates, and everyone can chose thier top two, or which they cannot attend or something. Then you can total them and whichever can accomodate the most people we'll go with. We all know that there's always someone who cannot make it, and it's nothing personal. But if we were to wait for a date that EVERYONE can make it, it will never get done. Ava, you're doing the "hosting", so it's YOUR call!
Ok...yea...it is impossible to plan dates to accomodate everyone in any situation. Let me double check with my dh of his vacation time. I don't think he has any in the next two months..but I will make sure before I set something in stone (post)..lol. No offense but with a dh that often works 12-16 hour days...if he has a day off we do something with him. lol. I will get back to you tonight or in the morning after I double check. I do think that Sept 14th is a good day...I know that is only a few weeks away...but I am still thinking that day works for me. The 13th or the 14th. September 7th I will be out of town. Anyway...the 14th I think will still give us decent weather. October 5th is open also...I know for sure my dh is not off that day. However, there are a few other dates I am questioning that's all.
ok...I most likely will not be available on Sept. 13-14th like I thought. I am available Sept. 20th. However, that is a Thrusday. That Friday maybe weird for me because that is the day my dh gets back in town. So I am not sure if I can do it that day or not..that time he gets back is iffy. That isn't too far off! Yikes...time flies! If that is a difficult day for some we can move this to October. October 12th sounds fine to me right now. Any thoughts?

Ok...so as of right now we will shoot for October 12th. If anyone else has another date that is better please let me know. If not...we will start planning for the 12th. I will get together something fun and very inexpensive. Oh..Jackie...you are down to one car...will that be a problem? I just may be down to one car myself...that may pose a problem. Geesh. Mine maybe fixed by then..if not I will let you ladies know.
It shouldn't be a problem. We live close to Carl's school, so he can ride his bike. Plus, his parents live really close. I'm marking the 12th. So those that are staying the night, are you talking about staying the 11th INTO the 12th, or staying the 12th into the 13th?
