I have been thinking about Christmas and my kids a lot lately. I wondered if anyone wanted to share their favorite and least favorite toy from childhood. Mine would be easy. Favorite toy was a doll. I had so many of them! Least favorite was a hula hoop. I never could get the hang of those things! Beth
I love the flatess doll it was a flat doll she was my favorite of all time. I took her to school put her in my locker and someone took her I never seen her again. I miss her so much has anyone seen her? LOL
Kris, Were those the cute dolls with the long bright colored hair? They came in about three sizes I think and had names like Sandy, Patsy and I think even Filly. Who did you have that was kid errr.. Dollnapped?
I remember lots of my favorites! One year i got a Rainbow Bright doll and playhouse and I played with it until it fell apart. Another year I got a Cabbage Patch doll with a play pen and high chair. I took that doll everywhere with me - even to church - and I would bring her diaper bag and dress her in her best clothes!!!!! Okay and when I was 16 I got a car which was awesome for me at the time but thinking back I would never buy my kids a brand new car!! That's just crazy. I also loved my Hungry Hungry Hippo game when I was very small. I just love Christmas!
Oh I forgot about tinker toys and lincoln logs and my brother's old G.I. Joes and Star Wars storm troopers!! I also loved my old blue record player that looked like a little blue suit case - I would play the Bay City ROllers over and over again!!!! S A T U R D A Y !!!!! LOL!!! I hope someone else knows what I amn talking about.
I loved my Simon, My Calculator (It was a kind that played math games called Professor something??), speak and spell (You'd think I'd have learned to spell), Any kind of Art set you could find, magic trick sets, and one stuffed puppy that went everywhere with me till I turned 30 and Sami lost it.
Is anyone old enough to remember Sticky Finger? It was a large plastic finger with a suction cup on the part where your finger print would be. It had a handle and trigger and came with a ball. You had to throw the ball and catch it using the finger and suction cup. My sisters and I got pretty good at it. Beth
Beth, I remember Sticky Finger, I got that after I lost my doll. Hmmmmmmm not a good replacement! Some ways I wish they would go back to some of those days. I noticed bell bottoms are coming back, but my oldest informed us they weren't called bell bottoms they were called boot huggers, sound like the same thing to me. LOL
My Favorties: Cabbage Patch Kid Doll, Care Bears, Barbies, Etch-a-Sketch, and Tinkertoys (my son has the tinkers now and loves them).
weebles were the youngest thing I remember I even had the tree house for them, then the light bright, (that drove my mom crazy with the pegs), I liked the cabbage patch dolls just a little after every one else (I was like that with so many toys) strawberry shortcake was a favorite too, but the toy that I think drove my parents most crazy was the metal slinky, it sure got tangled a lot!
OH YEah, Amy... you brought back memories. Light bright and weebles (they dont' fall down!) Were when I was l was littler. The lightbright stayed up on a high shelf with the play dough and I ahd to have special permission to play with it. My room was decorated in Strawberry Shortcake. And the metal Slinky... yep I payed with that thing for hours. I was thrilled when we moved to n apartment with stairs in it so i could make it walk down.
I loved shrinky dinks too! I had an army of smurfs. I dressed up as strawberry shortcake for halloween one year.
I loved shrinky dinks, too. My mom wouldn't buy them for us, but my grandmother would. I loved dolls of all kinds. I specificlly remember the doll that you could feed "real" baby food, then she'd poop (like the Baby Alive of today that my 5yo has asked for this year), the newborn baby, and the CPK, of course. I had a World Traveler CPK from Holland. I also just had to have a Merry-Go-Round stroller one year. It was so cheaply made that it fell apart not too long after I got it.
Are we showing our age or WHAT?!! My favorites were the Donny and Marie Osmond Dolls and my Stretch Armstrong. I broke one of my Barbies heads off when I threw her up in his arms and when they crashed her head broke off! Also the Speak and Spell and Light Bright. My mom made us homemade Cabbage Patch dolls. I also got a huge wood dollhouse one year.
Ha, I still remember the commercials for Weebles! "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!" I liked my Lite Brite, slinky, and a green and black bike with a banana seat that I rode 'til it fell apart---I LOVED that bike! My least favorite? Used (by my cousin) boys jeans! Hello? Why would I want those as a Christmas present???!
My favorite gift was the game BEWARE OF THE SPIDER. I used to play it all the time. I was so sad when it broke. My most memorable gift was a Care Bear from my dad. Money was so tight this year that my dad sat us all down and told us we were not getting anything for Christmas. We were not expecting anything so on Christmas morning when I saw the bears under the tree, I was so excited. I remember my dad crying. My mom told us it was because he was worried we would not like the gift. It was all he could afford. He bought a box of five from a walking sales man for $1.00 each. This was all we received but I still have it to this day because it was more then a gift but a memory of how much my dad loved us. Patty
