Jackie and Amie, thanks for saving me some time.

This topic is getting hot and as I fear becomming nonconstructive.

I will say this and I know this will anger many but I sincerely am not trying to push buttons. One can believe there is a God and NOT be saved. One can know the whole bible inside and out and be a hypocrite and even the possibility of not being saved.

If you are not saved then by definition of the Chrisitan belief than you are going to hell. That is not an insult. As I cannot judge the heart and soul condition of anyone I am not saying anyone on here is going to hell.

Someone did mention judging...I do not believe ANY comments made were judgmental. Just because you disagree does not mean you are judging. Besides the concept of judging is not used correctly anyway. The judgement we cannot do by biblical meaning is the eternal judgement. I am not saying that anyone here is going to hell. However, if one does not believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again than you are not saved. If you have no interest in Jesus than that should not offend you anyway. Sure doesn't offend me that I am not going to Nirvana.

I was once taught that you had to "believe into" Christ. Satan himself "believes" in Christ. He knows absolutely, without a doubt that Christ is the Son of God. He knows that Christ arose from the dead, and that He is coming back. He knows all this, and trembles at the thought!!!

It's like having a chair, and saying "I believe in that chair. I believe that it can hold my weight." That's well and good, but until you actually SIT on it, you don't "believe into" the chair. We have to have ACTION to MATCH our verbal belief. We can believe Christ, but until we take an action based on that belief, it's just a bunch of words.

I don't think anyone here is being judgmental. A question was asked, and we are trying to answer it. Tolerance can be a touchy subject. God gave us free will, and He allows us to choose His way or our way (Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, agnosticism, atheism, and a host of others), BUT ONLY HIS WAY IS THE WAY! The Bible clearly says over and over that NO man can enter the gates of heaven except through Him. John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" (NIV-sorry Ava).

Ava is absolutely right in saying that there are many people who believe in God and know much about the Bible who will not enter heaven. Only those who have accepted the fact that they are sinners, believe that Jesus is the son of God and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and confess Him as Lord are saved. Being "a good person" will not get you into heaven. Doing good deeds will not get you to heaven. Only through a personal realtionship with Christ can we spend eternity with God. I make no apologies about saying that. It's biblical and this is the Christian Issues board.

I was raised Methodist, converted to Byzantine Catholic after marriage. Due to an incredible string of amazing experiences I now consider myself just a Christian who believes with all that she is. Mainly it is because I have yet to find a denomination that recognizes what I have experienced. Sorry if it sounds confusing.
