we used to have a thread going with dinner ideas. But it was long burried so I thought we would start a new one. Today I made beef stew its in the crock pot..........I need a bigger crock pot for Christmas Its filled up to the lid. Stew includes: 2+ lbs of stew meat--dipped in seasoned flour and browned 5 carrots 5 stalks celery 8 potatoes (some were small) 1 lg. onion 3 pks brown gravy mix made with drippings from browning the meat and water plus some vegetable juice and varrious seasonings.
Tonight's menu Getting cold here in MO so I am fixing chili for the first time this season. the kids are soooooo excited!
Haddock Bubbly Bake - A local dish. Dump haddock fillets in dish. Dump some scallops in too. Dump a drained can of mushrooms and a sliced onion in. Salt and pepper. Dump a can of cream of mushroom soup on the whole mess and bake until done. Optional: Shred cheddar cheese and dump that on top just before baking. Serve over rice. Tastes really, really good.
Hamburger Helper, lol!!! (But, if it helps, we're having home made beef vegetable soup on Friday. We'll be gone at a camp all day, out doors, and it's only suppose to get up to 60°. So I figure some good, hot soup will be welcome when we get home!)
Wednesdays: Hay Stacks and Burritos! YUMO !! Dawn, that 'Haddock Bubbly Bake' sounds mmmm good ... I'll have to try a Veg. of my own. Thanks!
Mmmm....everyone's supper sounds like it's going to be good! We're just going to have eggs, toast and some sort of veggie tonight. Tomorrow night we are splurging and going out for pizza before we take the kids to their swim lessons.
We made a pizza on a whole wheat crust before going to a swim meet last nite!!! I noticed after the swim meet some of the parents bought pizza for the swimmers. What's with pizza & swimming? LOL!!!
Fun! I too want to apple cinnamon french toast instructions, sounds yummy. We are having Tuscan soup tonight. I base the recipe on this one, but have adapted it a bit, LOL. I add celery and carrots along with the onion. I don't measure anything I just toss in what looks good. I use vegetable broth instead of chicken. I add one can of kidney beans and one can of white beans (I think I have great northern). This time I am using tortellini instead of pierogies (we love it either way, raviolis work great too). I have a loaf of french bread to go along with teh soup, not sure if it will be made into garlic bread or just heated as is. Maybe some fruit to go along since the kids aren't big soup eaters.
Funny! Pizza and swimming just sounds good together (not at the same time though ). I know the reason we are doing pizza tomorrow night. We go out of town for swim lessons and there is a chain pizza place there that we don't have in our city.
breakfast we had egg and bacon sandwiches for ou big meal and then tatortot cass. leftovers for supper. dh works nites so we eat big meal first.
Corn dogs here tonight. I have to be at church by 6, and we don't get home until close to 9. We either eat really early or really late. Tomorrow night is omelets. I bought 3 doz. eggs when our friends were visiting last week, and they don't eat breakfast. I need to use those eggs!!
I think the pizza and swimming go together because of the carbs......... you burn a lot of callories with swimming and the pizza with its carbs can balance....... and its fun....
last night we had "breakfast" dinner. Eggs, sausage and homemade waffles. Tonight is Easy Roast: Roast, onions, wost. sauce, sprinkling of onion soup mix, huge can of cream of mushroom. Great with mashpotatoes and breaded green beans.
We love breakfast for dinner. We usually do it at least once a month. Last night I tried a new recipe that was a hit, feta and bacon stuffed chicken breasts....it was delicious! Tonight I have no idea what I'm making. Hubby is sick with a stomach virus, so the kids and I will keep it simple.
Tonight is pasties that dd and made yesterday or else spaghetti. I just finished canning 30 quarts of spaghetti sauce.
Oh, Lee, what's the recipe for Pasties? I know Michigan is famous for them, and I'd love to try them! We eat at church on Saturday nights, but tomorrow Phillip and Carl are making Oven-Fried Chicken.
